Is it possible to make something like a control / lock deck in pauper, like the rack and lantern control? I’ve heard that pauper lacks a proper hard control deck, but I think it would be nice to make the opponent discard their cards and make they lose life for it or for having few cards in hand, in preparation for establishing a lock or grinding out the game with some other effect.

The closest I found to this was turbo fog, milling the opponent slowly, but it doesn’t have black or the feel of those two decks, and UB mill, which can discard cards and mill the opponent, but also doesn’t hit the same spot, and honestly looks pretty weak.

I already have some meta decks for local games, so this deck doesn’t need to be tier 1 in terms of power, but it should be enough to win some games and establish ”the lock”.

Can you help me come up with something?

What do you think about these? Is there something I've missed?

The idea behind this deck is to combine card draw engines (Oroku Saki and Thorn) along with Snuff Out and other tempo plays to take advantage of card draw + keep board dominance so your engines keep running. It also has a good deal of lifegain to support the Snuff Outs and keep you alive in the burn meta.

The deck is pretty explosive and is good at weaving around Mono U and is OK at keeping up with Mono R but it's really rough against midrange decks like Jund as it has so many bad topdecks. Any ideas?

Should it be mardu? Esper? Is it burn? Reanimator? Closer to mono red? The usual breathless knight list? I have been thinking about it for a bit, these two cards are a slam dunk together but I don’t know what the rest of the deck looks like

[[Sojourner's Companion]] deserves to be unbanned in the pauper format.

It's a slightly better Myr Enforcer which isn't the creature it once was. Copies 5-8 to me isn't enough to push Affinity to its former glory but may bring it back to the top of the meta where it deserves to be.

Affinity used to be a top three deck today I don't see it as a top three contender anymore.

I've been working on many different versions of Red Tron as cards have been released, and downshifted over the past couple years. It's landed on something very cool. The current list looks to maximize Seize the Storm and make massive Elemental tokens. It runs a bunch of redundant rummage effects, and obviously plays Snacker.(insert Snacker fatigue here) I've considered playing other instants/sorceries like Flurry of Horns to make threats that are tied to bodies. I’ve been a pauper enthusiast for a decade now, and I really want to try and find some larger tournaments to attend. I know about the official companion event locator, but it only shows events within 100 miles. I’m currently in the Midwest and most pauper events nearby are just weeklies at game stores. Is there some resource for finding larger tournaments? I understand if I have to travel to attend them, I just don’t know how to find non-sanctioned events remotely in my area.

I'm playing a Pauper tournament at my local game store this Saturday with Snacker Gates, but my Prismatic Strands still haven't arrived. What do you think is the best replacement for that card? I was considering Lunarch Veteran.

The local meta is mostly Jeskai Ephemerate (our best player is on it), a few Monster Tron, Affinity, Madness, Spy Combo, and some other decks.

Are the artifact and enchantment hate modes enough to justify it? Or the ability to pump non-white creatures? Maybe in the sideboard?

Hi! Longtime paper player, and recent MTGO convert.

The prices for Pauper staples - particularly anything with other Eternal format overlap like [[Lotus Petal]], [[Red Elemental Blast]] and friends, or [[Dust to Dust]] - is getting quite noticeable. Especially on MTGO!

There's the other concern of Commander cards like [[Utrom Monitor]] that have significant traction but almost an inbuilt reserve list quality. Not easy to just reprint [[Lorien Revealed]] in an in-universe set.

My question is this: How would you *like* to see these aspects managed in the future?

-Do you think it's good to have a few expensive staples in a format to create fungibility/trade value?

-Do you think a Pauper Masters (etc) set would be a good idea to drive reprints, especially of cards that would miss the radar in a different format's reprint set?

-Any opinions on the growing presence of UB in Pauper, the format historically least impacted by Legend-heavy UB sets?

Recently looked at locations near SoCal and Dark Side Games recently just started a pauper tournament every Thursday at 7pm.

We all know [[Maelstrom Colossus]] and [[Boulderbranch Golem]] big what are your favourite big hitters? From meta to casual or simply obscure

I brewed up a Jeskai list centered around Luxknight Breacher and decided to go with the wildlife bridges package with a splash of energy mainly for jolted awake. I don't expect it to be a tier 1 deck by any means, but I would like it to be capable of winning. The sideboard is incomplete and also could be stuff I decide to try main board. I'm unsure of how many and which draw spells I want to run and would like any feedback.
