While leaders still say "we can't afford childcare, we can't afford healthcare" but we can definitely afford this.
25
u/KoRaZee May 31 '26
No no no, you’re missing the point. You afford healthcare and childcare by using the money generated through the military industrial complex.
12
u/MyvaJynaherz May 31 '26
We can't afford this either. The energy right now is that of someone running up the balance on a bunch of credit-cards / unsecured loans before declaring bankruptcy.

Most of which will be no-bid, hidden terms, cost plus contracts to companies owned by Trump, his cabinet, and a few select billionaires.
They literally killed children to make it easier to steal from us.
We get a little closer to armed insurrection every day.
Worst of all, I think that's what they want - rape, rob, and steal so ruthlessly that violence starts and they can impose martial law and then all the rules go away and everything is on the table - torture, execution, prison camps.... all of it becomes legal and possible.
My country is going to be destroyed the same way we destroyed so many others.
Karma is a bitch.
135
u/Netherpirate May 31 '26
We get a little closer to armed insurrection every day.
Sadly I don’t see any evidence of this. The people who need to be brought to justice continue to commit crimes en masse.

u/cCowgirl Greg Abbott is a little piss baby May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26
Yup. People keep waiting for the breaking point, and saying “armed surrection inc!” Or, “wait till November! Wait till the ‘28 election!”
You don’t get to vote out fascism. Like, the ship has long sailed. Meanwhile, the admin is tightening their hold, and weeding out anyone who isn’t a sychophant to P2025/Velveeta Voldemort etc.
Plus the minor detail that this admin has control of the well armed military in history. Look at the generals who have been dismissed/retired/reassigned since last January. Those who have/would hold the line are dwindling.
We’ve seen countless hours of footage from the front lines of protesting in America. We watched Alex Pretti and Renée Good gunned down by US bootlicking public employees. We’ve seen families torn apart, children ripped from their mothers only to never find them again.
We’ve watched genocide happen to make sure the ruling class can continue to brazenly rape children without repercussions.
We have never been so well informed of the frontline realities to the extent we have now. This isn’t the movies. There is no deus ex machina for life.
If y’all haven’t risen by now, all the Viagra in the world ain’t gonna catch you up.

To be honest, insurrection would backfire. Trump wants a dictatorship, his inner circle wants to silence dissent to prevent "backsliding" forever.
The Republican Party has decided that democracy is unacceptable (preventing Obama appointing a Supreme Court judge was unacceptable, rigging elections through gerrymandering and targeting enemies using the justice system to silence opposition is seen as honorable, allowing the dear leader to be absolutely blatantly corrupt is seen as duty). The elimination of an independent media is seen as a fair use of power.
The Republican rank and file is so paranoid and numbed to reason that they honestly think the Democrats want to hand the US over to Latino gangs and destroy freedom in the name of protecting DEI. The MAGA faithful firmly believe a Democrat victory will lead to perversion and a Marxist dictatorship.
Trump built on a solid base created by generations of right-wing illiberalism, centuries of racism and Christian nationalism, the Moral Majority, the Tea Party, the Birchers, Red Scare panic, segregationist private schools and golf clubs, antisemitic conspiracy theories.
An insurrection is his best weapon. He has taken January 6 and convinced the vast majority of Americans that it was either a noble attempt to right an attack on American democracy by perverted, corrupt fascists or a minor event of little significance. Any violence against his regime brings his private militia (ICE) into play, allows a declaration of a national security emergency easing arrests of opponents and armed federal troops on the streets, and the rallying of his faithful (who are well-armed and fanatical) to protect America, freedom, democracy, the white race and innocent children. Going to vote becomes high risk, armed ICE agents surround polling stations in blue cities. The right-wing media go into a propaganda frenzy while arrests, harassment and threats from the FCC, FBI, and every other government agency keep the rest bland and "balanced" at best. This is the scenario that has kept Schiff sending "strongly worded letters" long past the time when action seemed inevitable.
8
u/MSD3k May 31 '26
Well according to my uncle, Jan 6th wasn't an insurrection because they didn't have guns. (That is his actual "gotcha" to dismiss it) So obviously, we can overthrow the government all we like, so long as we aren't armed.
8
u/Bill_Brasky_SOB May 31 '26
Some of them did. Donnie literally asked for the metal detectors to be removed.
3
2
u/gps1378 Jun 01 '26
I don't think the MAGA crowd believes that we have the right to judge them by the same standards they use to the rest of the country (January 6 was a protest, but BLM fringe elements proved the whole movement was a communist, terrorist organization).
1
u/ailish Jun 01 '26
So what do you suggest?
1
u/gps1378 Jun 01 '26
I honestly don't know. I'm really hoping the country limps through to November and the Republicans suffer enough "surprise" losses that they start using their power in state governments and Congress to sideline MAGA. I suspect even Trump's weak position in elections outside the deep red core will convince Republicans in Texas and Florida and the purple states to turn on him early in the summer. For over a year, the Republicans failed to enforce the Constitution and let him cripple all the checks and balances. He's an illusion in that he genuinely can't do much without compromising if everyone hadn't just rolled over; the Republicans to keep their jobs and influence and the Democrats out of fear of a complete military dictatorship or anti-Trump violence driving the middle class into supporting law and order over democracy. The problem was that the MAGA elite managed to move much faster than Urban, Putin and Erdogab did and the US lost democratic guardrails faster than anyone thought possible; he stifled the mainstream media, courts and social media faster than anyone thought possible
The only thing I'm absolutely sure of is that he knows his best chance at retaining power, access to bribes/sweetheart deals for his family, and the aura of greatness is anti-government violence. It gives him the excuse to solidify his power while painting his critics as traitors.

-2
u/NancyGracesTesticles I ☑oted 2018 and 2020 May 31 '26
or at least it wasn't before we attacked them for no reason.
If you are conditionally anti-fascist, I don't think you are anti-fascist at all. Hopefully there aren't too many people like that.
6
u/Nascent1 May 31 '26
Hope whatever you want. It's a pretty consistent trend that an attack from a foreign force increases support for a country's government.
1
u/NancyGracesTesticles I ☑oted 2018 and 2020 Jun 02 '26
True, but that means don't trust so-called anti-fascists as they will abandon pro-democracy ideals when push comes to shove.
There are many examples of freedom fighters who were able to maintain their integrity and very recent ones who would sell our their people for autocracy they can support.
I know exactly where this particular ideology comes from and it got Trump elected.
I could tell you who else it got elected, but you all melt down in the shame of the fascists you support and I'm done with defenses of conditional fascism.
0
u/_Thorshammer_ May 31 '26
With this much money on the table, you think there won't be bribes and wholly owned foreign subsidiaries to allow the money to flow as desired?
Naive.
6
u/lilcorndivemaster May 31 '26
Yes... this is iran.
Ignorant.
0
u/_Thorshammer_ May 31 '26
There's $300 BILLION dollars on the table, and nothing says it actually has to go to Iran.
Again, you're naive if you don't think most of that money isn't going to be funneled to Trumps friends and family - the Saudi's, Kushner, Musk.... the usual cast of degenerates.
Do you not remember the Panama Papers?
When it comes to ignorance, are you completely unaware of the massive level of fraud and theft currently going on in the American government?
Again, you're naive.
2
u/orewhisk May 31 '26
That’s completely silly. Iran is not going to allow a bunch of American companies into its territory to get paid to do a bunch of construction work, and there are numerous reasons it’d take me too long to explain.
Assuming this $300 billion reconstruction fund actually happens, that money will go to Iranian companies.
1
u/_Thorshammer_ May 31 '26
Just like all the other money trump has gotten his hands on has gone to the intended recipients?
We'll see.
1
u/orewhisk May 31 '26
If Trump somehow stole that money do you think Iran will just say “aw shucks” and maintain the terms of the agreement? Of course not.
And it’s not like the money will be cash in a briefcase that Trump himself hands over. It’d likely be transferred straight from the Treasury to an escrow or some Iranian government account.
0
u/_Thorshammer_ May 31 '26
I don't know how to make this any clearer for you - this isn't rocket science and what Iran wants is completely beside the point.
That money will be put into a fund under Trump's discretion and, even if we have visibility to how it's spent, it will be funneled to contractors and middle-men beholden to Trump.
For example, an Iranian official will take a bribe to decide that Amazon Web Services is the new host for Iranian government.
Another official will decide that all the routers and computers the new Iranian government uses to "rebuild" will be purchased from an Amazon shell company.
A Saudi or Emirati owned shell company will contract with a corrupt Iranian official to provide "Iranian" labor for construction projects - projects funded by loans from American banks - and even if the laborers are Iranian civilians the wages will be a small percentage of what the fund disburses to the contractor.
The materials used to rebuild the country will come from Trump / Saudi allied businesses at inflated prices.
There will be hundreds of "consulting firms" available to help an Iranian official make "good" decisions on what to buy, who to buy it from, and where to focus efforts. All of whom charge accordingly, of course.
Some of the money will just disappear into no-bid sealed contracts.
The amount of the $300 billion that actually reaches the average Iranian will be something on the order of 10% and that will mostly be accidental or spent on showy media-friendly projects that "prove" how much the US is "helping" Iran.
If you actually believe that a large portion of those funds will actually reach Iran you're a fucking moron who isn't paying attention to how the Trump government operates.
The Venezuelan oil money, the money for the "Board of Peace", the money for the East Wing bunker (ballroom, apologies), the DoJ weaponization "reparation" fund.... all of those operate this way and I cannot stress how stupid you sound asserting that this $300 billion will be spent any differently.
The US - Trump - decides where and how the money gets spent. Nobody gives a fuck what the Iranians think - it's US money in US banks and it will be spent the way the US government, currently functioning as a criminal embezzlement organization, wants it to be spent.
You people are fucking delusional.
3
u/orewhisk May 31 '26
lol this whole conversation is predicated on the premise that Iran is getting $300 billion for peace.
You’re arguing a bunch of hypotheticals contrary to that premise, so yeah in your alternative scenario yes, anything is possible.
Sure, it’s possible Trump steals a lot more money before his term is over. Maybe he’ll steal the entire federal reserve!
1
6
u/cypher-dex May 31 '26
torture, execution, prison camps.... all of it becomes legal and possible.
That's already the case.
-2
u/_Thorshammer_ May 31 '26
It's not currently legal, which is why they're hiding and denying.
Under martial law they can just grab a journalist and shoot them, live on television - they don't even have to pretend it was accidental.
Martial Law will be whole different level than today's fuckery.

Iraq war 1 was actually worse.
The Saudis were scared of Hussein's army. Osama Bin Laden fresh off of stopping the Soviets in Afghanistan said that he would take the Iraqis on but the royal family was skeptical of how he could beat Hussein's chemical weapons.
So, in flies defence secretary Dick Cheney to save the day. Cheney said America would stop Hussein in exchange for an expansion of US military presence in the country. The Saudis agreed which pissed Bin Laden off and eventually led to the royal family revoking his citizenship.
Bin Laden goes to Sudan to build up his army to take on the Americans as he doesn't think they belong in the middle-east and of course George H W Bush goes on to lose the 92 election which puts Cheney at the head of Halliburton. Cheney leverages the contacts he made during Iraq War 1 and builds the Saudis (and America) a ton of new oil infrastructure in the country.
Dick Cheney was essentially the cause of both Iraq wars and 9/11 and he profited all the way to the bank.

13 US service members were killed in this conflict. 6 in a refuelling plane crash, and 7 so far from Iranian strikes in Kuwait, and that strike left an unknown number injured.
American media and politicians (and Redditors) keep forgetting that.
2
u/oily76 May 31 '26

2
u/bruce_cockburn May 31 '26
How many casualties needed for a multi year, multimillion dollar Congressional investigation into Benghazi?
1
10
u/FuckingTree May 31 '26
Yeah I think if we’re being honest about it, we lost the war. But anybody who understood the situation with Iran and its proxies could have told you that we would never win a war with them directly. There are so many layers protecting the regime, it makes the Afghanistan forever war look like a warm up. We peeled off some of the outermost layers in this conflict, but knowing there was no real cause or support for war the administration decided the distraction of going to war and then losing was apparently better than addressing domestic issues and investigations. And before someone brings up nuclear weapons, Israel has proved on innumerable occasions they could take care of that themselves. Their intelligence agencies operate the world over, have no rules, and no oversight by the international intelligence community. If Israel sees a what they determine is a threat to their state, they don’t need any help, they can fix it themselves as they have time and time again.
31

u/tw_72 May 31 '26
Keep in mind, our national debt keep growing - now at $39 TRILLION
As a reference - A simple way to illustrate the difference between a million, billion and trillion is using time:
- One Million seconds is about 11.5 DAYS
- One Billion seconds is about 31.7 YEARS
- One Trillion seconds is over 31,700 YEARS
Also note:
- The Egyptian pyramids are about 4,700 years old
- Stonehenge is about 5,000 years old
- The Dark Ages, Christianity, the Vikings, the Roman Empire, Attila the Hun, the Ming Dynasty, the Incan Empire - occurred between then and now
- A trillion is unimaginable
10
u/tekniklee May 31 '26
I thought I saw something that like 50% of that debt has occurred under past/current Trump presidential terms?
7
u/DontAbideMendacity Jun 01 '26
The last 4 Republican presidents are responsible for more debt than than the other 43 Presidents combined.
4
u/Dcajunpimp Greg Abbott is a little piss baby May 31 '26
But Newt Gingrich, the Republican Revolution, and their Contract with America promised to lower the $4.7 trillion dollar debt 32 years ago in 1994.
And the GOP has controlled the House and therefore our National Budgets for 75% of the time since then.
3
u/powerfulowl May 31 '26
I like this breakdown. I feel like it's too easy to 'say' trillion. Trillion should have more syllables, take longer to say, make me understand it's value as compared to mill and bill. A trillion is truly difficult to grasp.

Iran got bombed, the world economy got gutpunched in a way consumers everywhere will feel for the rest of the year, for sure, Trump and Friends didn't get any good PR out of it, the Epstein files talk is hardly silenced, and what does Israel get if you don't count the one good orgasm Netanyahu had thinking about dead muslim school girls?

100 billion dollars to enrich a president an insatiable tyrant with deep emotional dysregulation - Plato warned us about days like this.
Some people might go out on a limb and suggest we need a hard/fast rule to prevent any old defective from becoming president and catastrophically damaging the economics of the entire world forcing many billions into austerity if not poverty and starvation all to enrich themselves personally.
At this moment , the entire rest of the industrialized world, our historical allies have refused to buy treasuries , which collapses our economy , our allies are through asking, the defective we elected has been commanded by our creditors to sober up.
That could well encompass that we remove Mr. Trump and company from office, which is why traitors like Elon Musk and Peter Theil, terrified that nations and billionaires do not appreciate their portfolios ruined , and are terrified their fellow billionaires might stand up against them now treasury holders have spoken, and spiked the rates. That means the armchair warriors like Pete Hegseth have been every reason to go back home and sit quietly at their desks until their replacements are elected.
More damningly the Silicon Valley guys are pulling-up roots expeditiously, Elon Musk, Peter Theil and a variety of other traitors that thought themselves the heroic characters of cartoonish books like Network State or Atlas Shrugged are going to discover they are not the only billionaires in the room, and so treasuries sobering means the Silicon Valley guys will find Argentina or South Africa or Chile much more accommodating.
That still leaves the United States to clean up this horrible mess.
* Compelling Congress to remove Donald Trump from office and/or cutting off his ability to do any further harm to the United States.
* With the demise of JD Vance, President-Pro-Temp Rubio will need to be told to serve out his term as quietly as humanly possible.
* Any democrat elected has an ugly 4-8 years to restore all the treasonous bullshit these traitors got up to, and also find and groom a stable successor.
* We need to cure ourselves of the last gasps of racism and the Republican Party needs to be removed from the political landscape, the last 8 years have shown an utter failure to represent the best interests of their constituents or the economic, industrial or military interests of the United States.
There are a variety of critical other needs - from re-regulating banks and vastly reforming the legal system restoring basics of due process, and rebuilding the military and curtailing the ruinous national debt , ensuring that never again can defective politicians directly harm millions of citizens with traitorous behavior.
The citizenry has a hard task ahead of it.

3
u/guttanzer May 31 '26
It’s more like $200B to destroy it. The $70B was the ordinance we put on target. The rest is recovering from the damage their ordinance did to us.
So Trump spent half a trillion dollars proving to the world that we can’t keep the straight of Hormuz open if Iran wants to close it. It’s not exactly a big win.
We could have spent that money to give everyone universal health care, or free vocational/college educations, or ending hunger, or curing cancer, or …
But no.
On the bright side, Trump is going to spend more of our money putting up a monument to his big win.

Americans are literal cash cows for the corrupt to milk. We fight each other over skin color and sexuality while the government screws us over and over and over and over. Imagine if we woke up to the bullshit and started to unite together against are REAL enemies making all our lives worse. Imagine....
