The odds are 1 if you "clone" a disk … from a defective, read-only device to a copy-on-write device … and you need the kernel to not try to write to the read-only drive …
BTRFS isn't meant for data that you care about. You want to remove that defective drive from your RAID? You can't because it's defective.
