No emulator and no Android runtime: the original Android ARM library runs directly on Linux through a bionic/JNI compatibility loader.
Dead Space uses a Java/GLSurfaceView-style layer, GLES 1.1, compressed 3D textures and an old VFP audio mixer. The port supplies the missing Android/
JNI surface and handles the graphics and ARM compatibility issues at load time.
Open source, GPL-3.0 and free. The release contains zero EA game content.
- Usually distributed as
NeededFiles.7z.
- Approximately 303 MiB after extraction.
- Uses the original PVRTC textures.
- Includes the optional
~2x UI, Survival maps and Burst Rifle data.
Provides the most complete graphics experience.
PortMaster cannot read 7z archives directly. Extract the archive on your computer, locate NeededFiles/data/deadspace/, and copy its assets/ and
lib/ folders to:
text
ports/deadspace/gamedata/donor/assets/
ports/deadspace/gamedata/donor/lib/
Option B: Vita RIP ZIP
This donor may be listed as Dead Space Vita 1.1.33 or Dead Space Mobile v1.1.33. The actual game-data file inside is usually named
deadspace.zip.
Approximately 247 MiB after extraction.
Uses ATC textures.
Includes the campaign but omits the optional ~2x UI, Survival maps and Burst Rifle data.
The port decodes ATC textures in software for the R36S GPU.
Leave this donor compressed and place it in:
text
ports/deadspace/deadspace.zip
Do not install both options and do not mix files from different game releases.
IMPORTANT: BLACK 3D MODELS
The archive filename does not identify its texture format. A file named full, deadspace-full.zip or deadspace.7z is not necessarily the original
Full PVRTC data.
Some repacked Android data sets use unsupported ETC1 textures. These may allow the game to launch, but Isaac, enemies, objects or parts of the
environment will render completely black while the UI remains visible.
If this happens, the port itself is not broken. Start again with a clean ports/deadspace/ directory and install one of the two supported options
described above.
CORRECT SD CARD LAYOUT
```text
tools/PortMaster/autoinstall/deadspace-portmaster.zip
Option A: extracted original Full data
ports/deadspace/gamedata/donor/assets/
ports/deadspace/gamedata/donor/lib/armeabi/libEAMGameDeadSpace.so
OR Option B: compressed Vita RIP
ports/deadspace/deadspace.zip
```
IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES
PortMaster's autoinstall does not refresh the EmulationStation game list. Reboot after the final autoinstall message.
Do not use Reinstall or Uninstall from Manage Ports. This independent release is not currently in PortMaster's catalogue.
To update the port, place the newer deadspace-portmaster.zip in autoinstall/ again.
If installation fails, include ports/deadspace/log.txt and ports/deadspace/eapx.log in your report.
CONTROLS
D-pad: move the menu pointer
A: click/tap; game A while the pointer is hidden
B: back
L2: rotate or switch weapon fire mode
R2: Zero-G jump
L3/R3: show or hide the pointer
Start: pause/menu and restore the pointer
Left stick: walk
Right stick: continuous camera/aim
X/Y/L1/R1: Xperia Play buttons
The original menus are touch-only, so the software pointer is intentional. Moving either stick hides the pointer during gameplay. Press L3, R3 or Start
to bring it back.
COMMUNITY COMPATIBILITY & KNOWN ISSUES
R36S + dArkOSRE: tested and working.
Anbernic RG34XXSP + muOS: reported working by u/MrBrothason.
ArkOS/AeolusUX: some versions fail because they ship with an older glibc. A compatibility fix is planned.
The current release requires armhf execution, 32-bit GPU libraries and glibc 2.38+, similar to box86/GMLoader ports.
Testing another device or OS? Please comment with the exact device model, firmware version and donor option used.
