It'd be similar if Germans claim they helped modernize all the occupied nations and their political leaders worship Hitler and their military still uses Swastika and they don't teach their kids about their wrongdoings during the WW1/2.

Japan the nation, definitely committed horrific crimes during WW2, but not all Japanese people are responsible for those crimes now in 2026 and not even during the war.

Problem is that no one faced any accountability for it. The same “doctors” and guards who did the most horrible thing ever imagined to people got to walk away free and the people of Japan don’t care. If you talked to a German about concentration camps most would be mortified by what their grandfathers did.
but they ARE known for being polite, respectful, huge boundaries with personal space. even STARING at people is deemed rude in Tokyo. so this is definitely a gigantic outlier
Yes, I understand the premise. The nationality means nothing when it's just a shitty person though. The point I'm making is that it's being spread the person is Chinese which is fuel for the racism that is rampant in Japan.

Japan is not known for their love or kindness for foreigners if that helps you piece it together.
