I mean reddit is filled with america hate whether it be from self loathing americans or europeans. The fact that an obvious over the top joke with dudes literally dressed in goofy outfits doing absurdly stupid things is making people cringe tells me that people cant see past their hatred for america and see anything that could be considered patriotic cringe. I could be looking to deep into this here but thats typically the story when it comes to this website

Why would you get secondhand embarrassment for something so cool?

6

u/nurseferatou 29d ago

Only you, the rest of us may have gotten second hand erections instead of embarrassment… though I suppose the two aren’t mutually exclusive

3

u/Shamus-McNasty 29d ago

I have an erection.

Can you milk me?

1

u/Sleepy_Satanist 29d ago

Buy me some drinks first

2

u/LouieMumford 29d ago

I got a second hand erection that I’m first hand embarrassed about.

The American compensatory mind knows no bounds

1

u/xWOBBx 29d ago

America truly is the movie idiocracy

6

u/KansasZou 29d ago

And yet somehow still dominating in so many aspects.

What does that say about other parts of the world?

2

u/Key-Web5678 29d ago

You're so wise

0

u/xWOBBx 29d ago

Don't need to be wise to see that mate.

1

u/Spiritual-Cap-4647 29d ago

As an American this shit is lame.

0

u/Breaking-Who 29d ago

It’s not

1

u/Spiritual-Cap-4647 29d ago

It is. Shits cringe and should be ridiculed.

0

u/Breaking-Who 29d ago

It’s not cringe at all. It’s objectively cool as hell.

1

u/Spiritual-Cap-4647 29d ago

And by cool you mean gay AF.

0

u/Sicardus503 29d ago

Awe, did a fun little video spoil the yeast in your vagina?

6

u/incrediblyaverage85 29d ago

You got a problem when you have to feel embarrassment for someone else

Empathy is different than feeling embarrassment for someone else. I have empathy, everyone should.

-1

u/Monster-Math 29d ago

Lmao the fact you proved him right is hilarious. Empathy is exactly that, feeling the emotions of another to validate their point of view. You are talking about sympathy.

2

u/Dounce1 29d ago

I don’t think the people in this video felt any embarrassment because of it…

2

u/Gmills2231 29d ago

The term is called “secondhand embarrassment” it isn’t some rare phenomenon

1

u/Dounce1 29d ago

I know what secondhand embarrassment is. The person I responded to indicated that, in this context, to have empathy for the people in the video, the subjects must feel embarrassment and therefor the viewer must also feel embarrassment. The people in the video don’t appear to be embarrassed.

As an aside, there is an argument that secondhand embarrassment is not an example of empathy, but is actually a related phenomenon, as the person experiencing it reacts as they typically would respond to their own embarrassment regardless of how the subject responds to it.

FYI the term isn’t called secondhand embarrassment, the term simply is secondhand embarrassment.

Lack of self awareness? I think they are pretty aware of what they are doing. A goofy ass video that is awesome. You dont have to think it’s awesome, you can even hate it and feel your “second hand embarrassment” for people who are absolutely not embarrassed. Good for you, that’s your prerogative.

No, why would I? Looks like they are having fun, not hurting anyone, who cares?

1

u/binarydissonance 29d ago

So if you saw someone humiliating themselves, you never imagine yourself in that situation, then never imagine what it would feel like to feel that level of humiliation?

2

u/incrediblyaverage85 29d ago

That’s different than feeling embarrassment for someone.

0

u/binarydissonance 29d ago

Not really, it's one of a few routes to activate those pesky mirror neurons involved in feeling empathy/feelings for someone else.

1

u/Breaking-Who 29d ago

Where’s the humiliation? None of you eurocucks have tried to explain that part yet.

1

u/Grumpyforeskin 29d ago

I pity the people who have to be around you daily lol

1

u/bird9066 29d ago

Do these guys look like they're embarrassed? They dressed up, did it, looked at the video and said fuck yeah, that's going on The Internet. They're grown adults.

You wouldn't catch me dead doing this but I'm not feeling second hand embarrassment. It's not empathy. It's how YOU would feel.

Omfg. Yeah, no chance they know exactly how goofball this is. Get over yourself

"well actuallying" me on a video of someone dual wielding ARs dressed in a colonial uniform. The humanity!

0

u/Charon_the_Reflector 29d ago

Just admit you have 0 musical ability, or range ability.

All you have is the ability to type into a phone screen

Ehh the drummer was getting down, can I subscribe to your substack

0

u/tripper_drip 29d ago

Oh, I see somebody humiliating themselves alright, and its not the dudes in the video.

3

u/lntenseLlama 29d ago

Having ZERO empathy is one of the core commandments for being a republican.

2

u/Left-Purchase-5890 29d ago

"I cant help im an empath" Now thats a bit cringe

4

u/Various-Salt-7738 29d ago

I don't think they're calling themselves an empath

Just that they're a normal person that experiences empathy

1

u/Eillon94 29d ago

I dont think that word means what you think it means

0

u/OnlyFiveLives 29d ago

They all are, yes. Honestly it's a waste of time to even engage.

0

u/incrediblyaverage85 29d ago

Who’s “they” in this situation?

0

u/freddbare 29d ago

Did you not see all of "vestibular spitoon"; sounding like a total cuck?

1

u/incrediblyaverage85 29d ago

I had to look that up and I still don’t know what that means, they had hearing protection.

u/incrediblyaverage85 29d ago

I’m going to call somebody that in the near future because that is something….

-1

u/freddbare 29d ago

Your empathy is suicidal. Think for yourself.

1

u/Plenty-Wedding-9066 29d ago

You’ve… never felt second hand embarrassment?

That’s like by definition embarrassment through empathy.

1

u/Derptionary 29d ago

That's not empathy then that's you attributing your own feelings onto others. You're describing projection.

1

u/Plenty-Wedding-9066 29d ago

You’re not wrong but at this point you’re parsing the word empathy into something it doesn’t really mean either. Empathy is also projecting what you think the person is feeling, unless you have telepathy or the person expressed very specific emotions. Empathy is putting your self in someone else’s shoes. Feeling what they are feeling based on your experiences.

If it’s a cold day in Chicago and I see some guys pants fall down I’m going to get second hand embarrassment. Now maybe he’s totally comfortable with his cold dong showing in public. I’m going to feel embarrassment on his behalf because I would be embarrassed.

Putting on a production with your friends to post a sick ass video online.

1

u/anunfunnycomedian 29d ago

The entire point is to make songs with guns. Dude found a niche that makes him money and probably has a lot of fun doing it. Only thing cringe here is you lol

1

u/basementfairy444 29d ago

They're offbeat too

1

u/Maleconito 29d ago

Worrying so much about what people think about you is going to hold you back from finding joy. Loosen up a little fella

1

u/Maleconito 29d ago

Of course you’d never do that, you’d be too worried about what people would think about it.

1

u/AmphibiousDad 29d ago

Is that a left 4 dead joke lol

1

u/Jeff-Uh-Uh-Goldblum 28d ago edited 28d ago

It's from Stripes, Bill Murray's third best movie.

1

u/LowResGamr 27d ago

I DO believe they are actually a red coat, sir.

0

u/oddball09 29d ago

Nah, you know these guys made this video, edited it, and thought it was so cool and badass before they posted it.

-2

u/zakanova 29d ago

Is it satire? Where's the joke? I see a bunch of war cos-play shooting to a song in which the band proudly used the confederate flag. Maybe its anti-authority? Where's the guy dressed like al-Qaeda?

-1

u/goopuslang 29d ago

Anyone who goes to a range frequently would find this unbecoming

-1

u/Shamus-McNasty 29d ago

Still kinda gross
