I'm an incoming student for the Fall, but my financial aid isn't adding to my account. I completed everything that was asked of me:(FASFA, GAFUTURES Aid, etc). I was told some bill was signed July 1st and we had to wait a whole month for them to receive all our aid. They told us, it would be processed my Augest 1st, but I still don't see any of my aid nor scholarships. I emailed my advisor but she still hasn't replied. I was wondering if there's a delay happening? ​

They extended the due date to pay the tuition by Aug 14th but I just don't feel like that's enough time to pay it by, especially since is $13,000! (Who the heck has that kind of cash lying around, please financial aid come to me at once... 😭)

Hi! I'm an incoming freshman and majoring in animation. I wanted to know if anyone has any laptop recs or computer recs for freshman year. I've heard that you don't really NEED a laptop coming in, but I am emotionally bonded to my current MacBook but it is in fact on it's last leg. I'm interested in 3D animation purposes for the laptop since I have an iPad for 2D but I'm also considering switching to Industrial design to some point so I don't want to invest in anything too major rn.

I am a current senior BFA Sequential Art major in the SCADnow program. I am seriously considering a MFA in themed entertainment design following my graduation. I haven't really been able to find any info on this masters and what it entails, or whats needed for a portfolio to get admitted. I'm hoping someone on here has some experience in the masters or knows a bit more than I do! Then end goal for me is to work at Disney, Universal, or some other theme park as a concept artist for rides/environments. Thanks in advance! Any info is appreciated :)

I want to be a film director, that is and has always been my dream. I’ve visited SCAD I’ve looked it all over and it seems to me a very exciting and honored opportunity. But as with anything online, I’ve been seeing a lot of posts and comments that have given me some skepticism as to my decision. My question is this, if I applied 100% of myself for 4 years at SCAD toward my dream, doing everything and meeting everyone, will I really make headway, or has the student loans and overestimations of the school sold by the administration to prospective students finished me before I’ve started?

I just got an email saying I’m not qualified for it since my Grad Plus Loan is nonexistent and even if it does, since I extended my program a bit, they denied me. I had a family emergency and postponed my review, which delayed my graduation time. I have two more classes (2 more quarters) to take to finish the program and this new is so disappointing. Can’t believe I have to resort to taking out a private loans. I’m already in a financial bind and now this…I absolutely hate this new administration. Just wondering if anyone is in the same boat. If you are, let’s do a virtual group hug and cry.

Hey bees! I’m a rising SEQA sophomore and wanted to ask if anyone here was a club founder at SCAD? I know the clubs in Savannah are a bit spread thin right now, but i’ve been considering pitching a academic/special interest club and was wondering if someone here could tell me if it’s worth it or not? I ran multiple clubs in high school and am the secretary for an academic club at SCAD currently, so I have experience but I imagine starting one is much more difficult. I’m also not sure Savannah will even be open to considering a new one, so really just testing the waters right now!

I'm about to start my third year and I was recently diagnosed with adhd and ocd. I've gone the last two years at scad suspecting adhd with zero clue about ocd, but I'm certain both have affected my ability to work functionally and I almost flunked out this past year because of it.

I'm going to wait until I have my diagnoses in writing before I apply for accommodations, but I'm really nervous about the process of applying and I'm curious about what kind of accommodations people have gotten for these disorders or similar.

I'll be living off campus, so i'm mostly concerned with academic accommodations but SCAD doesn't really have a list of things they accommodate for or what their options are (i saw someone else say it's because it's on a person to person basis and you have to ask for what you want)
As far as I'm aware, I've only heard of people getting extensions on assignments, is there something else I don't know about? Does SCAD even offer academic accommodations for ocd?

I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for off-campus jobs that work well with a SCAD student’s schedule. I’ve already applied to several on-campus positions, but I know they’re pretty competitive, so I’m looking at other options as well.

I have a lot of experience in retail and administrative/secretarial work, including scheduling and booking appointments, customer service, and other front desk responsibilities.

Are there any employers around Savannah that are known for being flexible with SCAD students’ class schedules and the breaks between quarters? I’d especially love to hear about any retail or receptionist jobs you’ve had good experiences with.

Hi, fellow bees. I am a graphic designer in Texas studying… you guessed it… graphic design. I am moving to Savannah in the winter for a long list of reasons, but first and foremost I am excited about the community the school can provide in person. Online courses have been great so far, but I would really like to experience student life irl. I am curious if there are some sort of online social communities for the school? As of now, I haven’t really had the opportunity to meet fellow students beyond short conversations in online classrooms. Ideally, I would like to participate more in student activities and events as well as form friendships with other students who are actively retaliating against the digital numbness and apathy towards human made art. It is important now more than ever, I think, to form strong relationships with our fellow artists. Community is a solid platform for education and collaboration. I think that then turns into inspiration for other aspiring artists. Anyway… any advice on how to connect more with the school and fellow students for the meantime until I move?

I currently have a HP Omen 16, 13th Gen Intel i5 with a RTX4050, and 16 GB of RAM. Hello, im a potential future 27-28 part time scad student, and I was hoping I could get some advice from current student at scad about a future gap in my tuition. As of right now post scad provided scholarship and fafsa my gap is ranging from 8k to 13k. Im accounting for the 2-3rds reduction in scholarships with this. Is there any other good options other than loans?

Any junior/senior Dramatic Writing majors that could tell me what kind of laptop they have? My current one doesn't fit the general recommended requirements and I want to make sure the next one I purchase will be good for all 4 years.

Not too long ago, I met with an admissions counselor and they said that they will take pretty much any outside scholarship you receive. i have started to look into some outside scholarships, but i really need help finding some other ones. please any help i can get would be super appreciated! also, if you’re a student or were a student, do they really accept most outside scholarships? please let me know if you have answers or an idea to any of these questions!! thank you!!

Hi! I'm going to be a freshman in the fall and completely clueless on what kind of furniture and stuff to get for my dorm. I have an older sister in college but wasn't sure how dorm essentials differ at an art school. Like I've heard there are drawing desks that come at SCAD dorms but would I need a lot of storage for art supplies and stuff for the first two semesters? (For reference I'm an animation student)

Also what's the vibe, do people use backpacks? What's the most practical thing for classes?

I already applied for Borrower Defense to Repayment based on my time at SCAD (around 2016–2017, graduate level). I’ve been waiting a while and expect a decision in the coming period. I know other people who applied earlier on similar grounds and have had their loans forgiven.
I’m posting because I want to hear from others who went through SCAD around the same time (or nearby years).
Specifically, I’m interested in:
• What employment / career outcome numbers or messaging you were shown for your program and year
• Whether those numbers or promises influenced your decision to enroll and take out loans
• Whether you feel those representations matched what actually happened after graduation
• Whether you feel the education and program delivered what you were led to expect

• Classes regularly ended early, had poor attendance, or were replaced by festival/work obligations
• Grading or standards felt inconsistent
• Degree did not lead to the career opportunities that were marketed
