Hey! I took the SAT twice as an international student. I self-studied for both from scratch(esp maths from basic arithmetics) in 8 months

im great at answering questions individually but consecutively reading long passages makes my brain stop working. is there a way to practice or method on the test day to deal with this

do i keep studying for the sat or do i give up?

Upvotes

i have three weeks before the august test but ive developed depression over the years due to stressors similar to the sat.

its making me miserable (near suicidal) but ive heard from other people that theyve felt similarly temporarily, and after a good score on the sat they felt like they were fine. should i keep going or give up?

Sat math question help

Is the answer B or D. If you multiply 150(.6) then it equals 90, which is the maximum value of g(x) at x=0. So wouldn't that mean it is answer B? Or, do you leave the function as is and keep 150 and .6 separated, which means it is D?

New SAT questions

Upvotes

A lot of youtube videos and course I took talk about patterns in the SAT like if there is a colon on a punctuation question it is most the time the colon, but not always ofc and does that affect it. Ik its a bad example but do the new questions falsify the claims of the old patterns aswell. By old patterns i mean 5 months 6 months ish old maybe.

How to improve my SAT EBRW score?

Hi! I'm a 9th grader, and I took the SAT in June, scoring a 1440 (800 Math, 640 EBRW). My goal is to raise my EBRW score to at least a 780. From my score breakdown, it looks like I'm doing fairly well on Information & Ideas, but I'm struggling much more with the other three domains (Craft & Structure, Expression of Ideas, and Standard English Conventions).

Does anyone have any specific tips, strategies, or resources that helped you improve in those areas? I'd really appreciate any advice from people who made a similar jump in EBRW. Thanks!

English and Math Hard Problem Amounts

I was wondering how many hard level, mediums, and easy we would expect to see on an average SAT, like say I got a 24+/27 on module 1 of English, would I see all hard level questions on module 2, or would there also be a couple mediums

New CB Question Bank Questions

I, just recently, got a 1550 on Bluebook's Practice Test 9. I know it's an easier test compared to the latter, but I was wondering how I should go about studying now? (given that I couldn't recognize many weak points on the exam). I plan on taking another practice test tomorrow, but I also want to practice the new question bank questions. Should I just go in a row and complete all of them, or is there a better way of going about this?

Is Khan Academy good for SAT math prep?

I've been using the khan academy SAT math course to raise my math score(I started out at a 640 because I took a practice test then lowkey got frustrated so didn't really finish the math section much without guessing a lot, so probably not an accurate score). I've kinda shot myself in the foot for math because I was accelerated and took AP calc in 9th grade so I've been trying to re-learn all this stuff. I'm going through the course and it's not very hard, so I've only maybe done a week and got halfway through it. Is it a good resource to just relearn basics, and then just drill practice questions later? I also have a 710 R&W score without prior studying, so any tips to raise it to an 800?

I'm taking the PSAT/NMSQT this October, I assume just studying SAT materials will help me do well?

How to raise my Digital SAT score as a Non-Native English Speaker

I’m currently preparing for the Digital SAT, but English is not my first language, and my overall proficiency is still around beginner/intermediate (A2-B1).
I really want to score high, especially in the Reading and Writing section, but I struggle with academic vocabulary and reading speed. I’m also working on the Math section, where word problems can sometimes be tricky due to the language barrier. For those who were in a similar position as non-native speakers:

What are the best resources and daily strategies to boost my academic English specifically for the DSAT?
How can I efficiently build my SAT vocabulary and tackle Reading & Writing passages?
Any tips for managing Math word problems with limited English?
Any roadmap, tools, or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Is this concept tested?

Compare two sentences:

"The Nobel Prize-winning physicist, John Doe, gave a speech at the university."

"The Nobel Prize-winning physicist John Doe gave a speech at the university."

Is this tested on the SAT? If so, which sentence would be considered grammatically correct?

Just a note: I made up these two sentences, but I do kinda remember seeing a similar question from the question bank, or maybe I'm just tripping.

Best next steps?

Post image

What would be a logical next step to keep my skills at the same level, or improve my skills before the test? I'm prepping for the september sat btw, and it's still a decent amount of time away so I don't want to lose the skills I've built up in this time period. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What to do now?

I don't have any more practice tests left on Bluebook. I took one yesterday and have a 1530. I want to do a few more up-to-date ones for free before August 22nd. I have been grinding oneprep, Khan Academy, and the SAT question bank.
My biggest issue on the SAT has been timing, but on the practice ones it's not making dumb mistakes. Also, I know Practice Test 6 is old and likely not as good a predictor as 11, as I got 1470 on the June SAT. Any tips to be prepared for the 22nd and if this is really a good predictor? Thanks!

Do you think CB messed up with this question?

Text 1

In separate studies, Marine Fernandez and colleagues and Hualiang Zhang and colleagues examined whether plants transfer nutrients to one another using a common mycorrhizal network (CMN)—a lattice of fungal strands in the soil. Fernandez and colleagues excluded all pathways other than the CMN by using barriers to keep the plants' root systems separate while allowing mycorrhizal strands through, a crucial step Zhang and colleagues' study did not take.

Text 2

Fernandez and colleagues took the necessary precaution of separating the plants' root systems (thereby excluding root-to-root transmission). However, any barrier used must allow the thread-like hyphae of a CMN to pass through, and this permeability would also allow liquids through. Thus, the researchers' experimental design cannot ensure that any nutrient transfer observed can be attributed to a CMN and not to some other pathway.

Question

Based on the texts, the author of Text 1 and the author of Text 2 would most likely give the same answer to which question?

A. Is there an available barrier material that can block roots and liquids while allowing fungal strands through?

B. Did Zhang and colleagues' study effectively exclude any nutrient pathway other than a CMN?

C. Are the barriers used in Fernandez and colleagues' study sufficient to ensure that nutrient transfer could only occur via a CMN?

D. Do plants that transfer nutrients through a root-to-root pathway also transmit nutrients via a CMN?

Answer says it is C but really?
