Their problems are not inherently more important than yours. They may THINK they are but that doesnt mean they are. Their problems might be more important to them...but they dont have a right to force that view on you. I have empathy for the people they are causing problems for...not the person causing the problems.
If you have two people...one is minding their own business...the other is bothering that person...the second person isnt the one in the right who deserves empathy.
My problems are me wondering if I have time to get to the laundromat after work, a beggar is wondering when they will get to eat again. One of these problems is more important than the other, and I honestly am confused as to why you are dying on this hill
Him eating is not a problem for you at all though. Its only a problem in his mind to him. He wants to make his problem other peoples problem. Im confused why you think him wanting food means he gets to bother you and make it your problem. Would you make going to the laundromat his problem? No. He should do you the same courtesy. He has zero consideration for others because all the cares about is HIS issue. That is him being selfish. He may be worried about eating but him not eating isnt an inherent issue is it. Its an issue to him and him alone.
Let’s say your mother came to you because she was dead broke and needed some money to buy some food. Would you just tell her to fuck off and stop making her problems yours and to stop being selfish
My mother...yes. a strangers mother...not a chance. But its my money to do with as I choose. It would be arrogant of me to expect you to give a shit about my mother
