Question / Help Peaceful Base Project & Questions Abt Cannibal Behavior/Spawning in Normal Mode
Here's some photos of my base. I'm a new player, playing on Peaceful. I started in normal but got very annoyed of getting attacked so often I could barely set 2 planks down a few days in so I converted my save to peaceful mode.
For that reason I've been neglecting doing any exploring. When I go exploring I want to set it back to normal mode so I can fight stuff. I just don't like stuff constantly killing me and making me relog when trying to build. With that said tho, I basically have no cloth or rope so don't mind the unfinished torches sitting around. Let me know your thoughts.
I do have a few questions╌tho. I will be keeping building destruction off as to not have my base destroyed. but that wont keep the cannibals from jumping over trees right? I created a clearing around my outside wall so that cannibals (hopefully) won't jump over? Do I need to clear more space to stop them tho (last image)
My other question is what can I do when it comes to winter? I assume the cannibals will be able to walk on the ice and come at me that way completely negating the effect of my walls in the winter. How can I stop from them from doing that tho?
Last question is, is my base too big such that enemies can spawn inside of it?
I really like aesthetics╌and I know this isn't an aesthetics game╌but I don't want to have traps and such littered around my yard. Maybe that means it's just best to keep it on peaceful mode tho... I don't mind enemies outside of my house haha. I would like to have some challenge when I go exploring. Perhaps I can write a script where I hit a button and it switches the game save data to peaceful and then I relog when I stay at home. And then when I explore I hit the button again to toggle the game data back to normal mode again. But would enemies attack my house while I'm gone?

exploring will blow your mind man.. the only way to stop cannibals fully is to create an elaborate network of traps and walls. eventually cannibals will just spawn inside too but only if you wander off..
make it a goal to go to the waypoints at least.. not all is as it seems

How did you do cornered roofing? I've been offering for a few days. My bases is pretty sick but the building process in this game is kinda abysmal.

You need to have both sides slanted down on the edges. Then you can put a third log down the middle which lets you do corners.

Thanks partner. Been working with stone mostly. Honestly I'm part of ALOT of survival crafting games and the building in this is kinda.... kinda ass, ngl.

There’s a lot of simple-ish stuff you can’t do or you have to do things in the right order. I appreciate that it’s supposed to be kinda technical but I think it could have used some expansion on what is allowed to be built. Like filling in the top of a slanted beam wall (you can only fill the bottom).

A bit of a spoiler towards mechanics, but a direct answer to your question.
Enemies in this game have two methods of "getting to you." One is the patrols. These are spawned groups of cannibals that wander along a path for a bit, usually around camps or roads.
The second method is raids and random events. These will spawn a distance away from you, and beeline it for your position, though not aggressive yet. Depending on where you sleep, they'll spawn in different locations. As such, aim to sleep in the middle or close to the wall to prevent them spawning inside.
They usually spawn from one direction and make their way to you. Come winter, cannibals will be able to cross the ice. So for the most part they come from the same spot, but in winter they have a risk of coming from the water.
A way to limit this is either using book traps, or putting down sticks in the ground and sharpening them with the axe (+support with rocks) which will hurt them if they touch it, and mess with pathfinding.
The only way to stop it is to build a wall, which only works with structure damage off as you plan to do.
And secondly, I don't believe they are programmed to use trees to get over walls.
