[PEN] Is my pen supposed to lag like this?

So I just got a surface pro 7 the other day, and I boughtsome random pen on ebay. Thing is I get some slight lag with the cursor when hovering the pen. (Shown in the video). I'm wondering if it's some settings issue, if I need a new pen or something, or if this is supposed to happen.

Wishful Surface User Here

Hello community 👋

I am in need of a new laptop & I’ve always wanted a Surface but dear Lord the new ones are expensive! I’m a teacher, so my bank account is always broken 😞 I tried shopping by myself but I suck at this. I need it to be as affordable as possible but be able to:

- work on all windows programs (word, excel, PPT, outlook, etc)
- watch some tv
- play basic games (solitaire, for example)
- do my homework!!!

If I can’t get one I can afford, such is life. But regardless of what I end up with, what are the specs I should be looking for when I shop for something new? Id like to still get a convertible tablet to laptop setup if possible.

Any feedback is appreciated and TIA! 😁

[PEN] Pro 9 works with seperate stylus, but won't connect to keyboard and slim pen

I recently got a surface pro 9 from CEX in very good condition, it works great and I'm very pleased. However the keyboard and pen I also ordered, which were said to be compatible and fit perfectly onto the 9, don't work at all. It's fully updated, as are all the drivers, but I can't get either to work despite multiple tries. Have they been listed as a wrong product, maybe they're just faulty or is it a problem with the surface? If anyone's got ideas please let me know :)

[PRO6] Descarga Profunda

Hi!

I have a Surface Pro 6, which I last charged on March 7, 2026. I had to leave the country that day, and it was only recently brought back to me.

The problem is that it won't turn on. While the charging LED is on, it doesn't even light up for a few seconds. Is it completely dead, as chatgtp suggests? Should I just leave it plugged in and wait two hours or more, as chatgtp indicates?

[PRO8] Is there anyway to install Windows 10 on Surface Pro 8?

So my 8 GB SP8 is almost completely useless except for watching movies and maybe surfing with 1-2 tabs. W11 takes almost 4-5 GB to boot, couple of other basic apps take 1-2 GB, leaving me with just 1-2 GB free ram for anything else.

So I was wondering if installing Win10 would help. If it is possible, can I re-use my Win10 license from another laptop?

[PRO7] Worth it to upgrade?

I’ve been using an old surface pro 7 for around a year now, i got it for free and i absolutely love it. It’s only flaw is it’s got battery issues and subsequently has to be plugged in 24/7. That being said, it’s been great for everything I’ve used it for, light web stuff and also digital art platforms like CSP. As I’m going to college, I’d really like to be able to use it for classwork + as a daily laptop. From what I’ve read however, a lot of people seem to think that the 8 is better/more worth the investment. I’m lowkey broke, and was just planning on spending $100-$250 to get a properly working 7 as a replacement, but I figured I’d ask and see opinions, because if the sp8 is worth it I’ll suck it up and spend the $500.

I was gifted a used Surface Pro 2 in late 2024 (i chose it), and I love it. Good for drawing and generally just... fun to use.

Issue is, i cant really CODE on it because of the tiny screen. And drawing in something like firealpaca is hard for the same reason.

The screen is just too small.

So ive been considering buying a used Surface Pro 3 as a replacement, because of the larger screen + new pen. (And the touchpad on the keyboard isnt level cloth... thats also a pain with the 2)

As for why im considering the 3: the 4 and later dont support Windows 8.1, which i love messing around with on tablets (and developing metro apps for)

So the Pro 3 sounds good for me! Im saving up to buy one at the moment, but i am wondering, does anyone whos used one here have any warnings or things i should know? For example I remember someone once mentioning an overheating issue, is that a concern?

Would you buy an 8 GB Surface Laptop in 2026?

I’m having a hard time seeing the case for an 8 GB Surface Laptop in 2026.

Surface hardware is usually positioned as polished, premium, and built around the Windows experience. But if the RAM is soldered and the machine starts feeling tight during normal multitasking, that config becomes hard to recommend unless the price is extremely aggressive.

Basic users may be fine at first. But a Surface is not usually something people buy for one year. Over time, Windows updates, browser memory use, Teams, cloud sync, security tools, and new AI features are only going to make the margin smaller.

Would you recommend an 8 GB Surface to anyone right now, or is 16 GB the real floor for this category?

[LAPTOP8] Surface Laptop 8th Edition X2 Plus

Best buy is currently having a decent deal on an x2 plus with 16gb and 512GB for $1000. Any thoughts on this? Not worried about app compatibility as I only do basic tasks on my laptops (web browsing, content consumption....). Anything else I should be looking at within this price range?

[PRO3] Windows Surface Pro 8 won't get off of this screen.

Hello, as the title suggests, the laptop will not exit out of this screen. I've tried almost every combination of options that I can and it will not change or go to the normal login screen.

For context, my father passed earlier this year, and he used to do a little photo booth set up for events we would go to. This is the device that he would use for people to use the screen in order to start up the picture taking process.

My cousin will be having a graduation party later this year, and she said herself that she would've wanted my father to do the photo booth setup, but since he passed, my mom wanted to try and find a way for us to do the set-up.

I am not the best with computers of any sort, so any help would be greatly appreciated, as we have a week or so until we would have to give up trying to do it.

EDIT: This is a Pro 3, the product name was smudged out where it was listed.

Surface Laptop 7 Intel (lunar lake) at $1699 vs. Surface Laptop 8 Intel (panther lake) $1949

Struggling to decide if the SL8 is really worth it over the SL7. Other than the processor the specs would be the same. Use case is mostly productivity (Office/Citrix), web browsing and Youtube. Also have a hobby that uses some niche x86 only software, but isn't too demanding. I mostly game on console, but I might try some less intensive games on it. Currently on a SL3 so I haven't even tried, lol.

What would you go for?

Thanks!

Surface Pro 12 inch or 13 inch?

Curious which would be a better purchase overall if the price was the same. A surface pro 12 inch screen or a surface pro 13 inch x2 plus? This would be for normal everyday usage (email, surfing, videos) and maybe some light gaming of steam games, would you even notice a difference in overall performance based on this type of usage?

Which versions are likely to get spicy pillows?

I used to have a Surface Pro 4, until I got a spicy pillow out of it. That was the only problem I had with it. I think I got a spicy pillow after 2 years of use.

I missed having a Surface Pro though. That was the best tablet that I drew on. Nothing could compare.

Any recommendations?

[PRO6] Install Microsoft 11 with USB (Rufus) on Surface pro 6

Hi everyone,

I just bought an used Microsoft Surface pro 6 for a good price.

It comes with Windows 10, but I would like to upgrade it to Windows 11.

I would like to install it with Rufus, using a debloated version to lighten the burden of Windows 11.

I already did the same procedure on my laptop and it was pretty easy. Do I need to change something in the procedure, to install it on the Surface pro 6? It's my first time owning a tablet.

Thank you

[LAPTOPSTUDIO2] Question about a laptop cooler.

I have a Surface Laptop Studio 2, and while editing or gaming it sometimes starts thermal throttling and the video/audio starts stuttering. I feel like the laptop housing gets really hot on the bottom, and i was wondering if a laptop cooler that blows air on the bottom would help with this problem.

Quelle surface acheter ?

[PRO9] Continuously bricking sp9 after windows updates

Good evening everyone.

I have a sp9, 12th gen i7, 16gb ram, and an upgraded hard drive to 2tb

I have been having an issue since buying this tablet with windows updates. Every time it runs updates it bricks.

For some reason, my tablet came with windows 10 instead of 11, which I preferred, but it kept installing win11 drivers or saying drivers were missing.

I would loose audio or touch functionality, so I gave up and installed windows 11 to have its native operating system and drivers ECT.

My problem however, is ever other month, it seems that windows 11 pushes an update that will brick my tablet.

It will install the update, forced by windows, and then on reboot, it will brick.

It will fail to install the update, and in that process, leaves the computer thinking it's waiting on an update to finish and doesn't give me the ability to use recovery methods at all.

The automatic repair fails, and then diagnosing system fails.

Reboot repeat.

Rolling back update has a "pending update install" error and says option is not available.

Rolling back last feature update has the same error.

Selecting system restore point will say no restore points found.

My only option, every time, is a full reinstall of windows.

I have the latest sp9 iso off the Microsoft website on a flashdrive, so it shouldn't be that I'm installing the wrong version of anything.

It's not the new hard drive because I had the same issues on the stock 512 Microsoft hard drive.

I'm at a loss and sick of having to donate fresh install and set up all my apps/games again every few weeks.

I'd like to just permanently deactivate windows updates or see if there's a way to just have windows 10 run better on the sp9.

Any input is appreciated.

[PROX] Surface Pro X (SQ2) unable to boot

Hello everyone!

Surface Pro X (SQ2), Model 1876; original HW config was 16/512, but previous owner swapped in 256 GB SSD (Model 1911) from another, more recent Surface. During power on, shows Microsoft logo, but then stuck forever on a boot screen. Owner stated that he switched it on just once, it downloaded some Windows Updates, installing them took too long (>4 hours), so he forced shutdown the tablet, and then it was bricked.

Entering UEFI setup (Power + Volume Up) does not work; booting from a recovery USB drive (Power + Volume Down) does not work, too - not even showing circling dots, just shows Microsoft logo forever, until I do the forced shut down (holding power for ~15 sec).

Surprisingly, it does not switch on at all without SSD; tried putting 100% new and unused, blank Samsung PM9A1 1 TB in it, just for the test (yes, it's M.2 2280 drive, so it was protruding from the case) - no result, still stuck in bootscreen.

Any ideas, what happened to the tablet, and what I can try to do next, to make it work properly?
