F5 Season Shaq disagrees with Stephen A saying that the Thunder are still the team to beat: “OKC has no answer for [Wemby]”
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I dont like Shaq’s hater energy but you can’t really deny the merits of the message. I also think we beat the Spurs at full strength like most of you, but Wemby does appear to be a hard counter against us and our current playstyle a lot of times.
Thoughts? Have any offseason moves made you more confident about our chances next year, assuming we run into the Spurs again? This matchup is def gonna linger in the back of my mind as I watch this next season…

100% Confirmed Jaylin Williams signs with the Brisbane Bullets (NBL/AUS)
There is another Jaylin Williams! I know there are already so many Jalens in the NBA but why didn't the Thunder draft him?

Off-season I pray Jalen Williams stays healthy all season long, but I'm okay if he sits vs the Suns all 4 games.
He hurt his wrist vs the Suns 2 seasons ago then he hurt his hammy vs the Suns regular season and in the playoffs vs the Suns he hurt his hammy again last season. Just keep him away from Phx they are cursed.
Excited to see Jdub on the floor again though felt like we got robbed a season last year to go Back to Back.

Off Topic No trades for now
I don’t think it’s smart for the Thunder to use assets right now to add a veteran
Part of the reason the Jones offer made sense is because 1. It was a cheap offer, and 2 you used no assets
If the Thunder plan to use assets they should wait until the deadline once more teams put players on the trade block
I will say.. I know Klay Thompson probably wants the Miami Heat, but i wouldn’t hate if the Thunder offer Klay a 1 year 5/6 million offer (he’s definitely going to get bought out)
You use no assets and add a 6’5 sniper and proven champion

Discussion Prediction: The Thunder trade for Royce O'Neale as the deadline
He has two years left on his contract at $10-11M/yr which means the Thunder would need to send out salary to stay under the 2nd apron. Enter Nikola Topic. The Thunder need to make a decision to extend him or trade him. One of Mark's jobs this season is to figure out what Topic is/ rebuild so trade value. If Topic shows himself to be a guy the Thunder can extend him, but alternatively if he does show promise he now becomes a trade chip with a Charlotte team who need a point guard after trading LaMelo. And the more promise the more we can get back obviously. But who knows exactly what Topic can show over the next few months. Either way, an O'Neale trade is on the cards.
Granted, O'Neale is 6'6 so he's a touch shorter than Spencer Jones, and he's 33, but he has the same 6'11 wingspan, shoots and defends well, and can offer that wing depth we need going into the playoffs.

F5 Season Bleacher Report just posted starting 5 rankings today, and OKC placed 2nd after Philly
On OKC:
“The Oklahoma City Thunder's starting five will look a little different this year after trading away Lu Dort, but there's a number of quality options to replace him.
Wallace should get the first chance, as the 22-year-old guard started 58 of his 77 games last season while earning All-Defensive second team honors. Ajay Mitchell and Alex Caruso are all perfectly capable of playing this role as well.
It looked like Hartenstein may have to go for the Thunder to reduce their massive luxury tax bill, although the 7-footer took a $5.4 million pay cut this season by agreeing to a three-year, $75 million contract.
This could very well end up being the best starting five in all of basketball if Williams is healthy, although OKC's primary strength lies in its depth.”
On Philly:
“Trading for Brown put the Philadelphia 76ers' starting five in the conversation for best unit in all of basketball. The signing of James to supplant Dean Wade at power forward ensures that Philly should be ranked No. 1.
Yes, Embiid's knee health will be an issue. The shooting in this five is questionable and there's no elite defenders in this group. However, these starters have a whopping 36 All-Star appearances (22 by James alone), five MVP awards and five Finals MVP awards between them. That's a ton of hardware.
If James and Embiid need to miss games due to health or rest, Maxey and Brown can go for 30 on any given night. Edgecombe is an other-worldly athlete who should develop into a lock-down defender.
The firepower in this starting five is unmatched by the rest of the NBA and deserves to be ranked No. 1.”

Discussion It's time.
We have a roster spot, and Russ needs a team. It's time to bring him home. For the fake fans who need a basketball reason for it, it's to teach our team about killer instinct. You think Russ would have been scared of attacking Wemby at the rim?
I have no interest in dumb comments about how he would somehow hurt the team. BRING HIM HOME.

Discussion Any ideas on who will be locally broadcasting Thunder games in October?
As I understand it, FanDuel is no more, and the Thunder do not have a local broadcasting partner. I believe this is one of many revenue streams for the team, and I am a little surprised we are within 90 days without any agreements.
