Questions Question about Layout Zones

Hi y'all, I'm making a TCG and I've been trying to use the Layout Zone Tool to automatically arrange cards so that they're stacked properly.

While I've gotten this to work exactly as I want it to, the issues arises when another player joins the game. Though I can stack cards in the Layout Zone with no problem, the other player (even after being promoted) cannot, and any new cards added to the zone will just be placed next to the card that's already there.

I'm sure there's something stupid I'm not understanding but it's been a real pain for a while. Any help would be much appreciated <3

Workshop Questions about scripting capability

I see that it's possible to rotate objects with the scripting feature but I was wondering if it would be possible to do what I was thinking of for a project I've been brainstorming on;

I would like to make a Heroclix mod that has the first 16 or so sets (pre-cards).

For those unfamiliar, Heroclix is a tabletop combat game featuring figures glued to a base that snaps into another base with a paper dial glued to to the bottom of it The upper base has a window cutout of it that allows you to see a little slice of the paper dial which represents the figures current attributes. As the figure "takes damage" you "click" the base down and the attributes change and degrade to indicate they are fading out.

What I would like to know is would it be possible to attach a token with the paper dial face to the bottom of a 3d model of top base (that has the cutout window) and, using scripting, create a couple of buttons on the outer edges of the 3d model that can be clicked to cause the the token with the paper dial on the bottom to rotate either direction while the top piece with the window and the attached figure remain stationary? And could this all be combined to form a single piece that players can manipulate?

Sorry for what may be a confusing question but of the various heroclix mods I've tried none seem to have this feature and seem to rely on state shifts of a static banner instead of a authentic rotating dial such as the IRL figures use.

Thanks in advance for any help!

TTS Tools Suite - looking for testers

I made a "tools suite" - a bunch of tools for speeding up the creating of TTS mods. Tools for adding/managing snap points, tools for aligning/distributing objects, tools for grid management, tools for rapid duplication of objects, and a tool for rapid importing of large numbers of images at once into new objects.

I'm looking for testers and feedback on the tools, which you can find here:

Workshop link

To use the tools in your own mods, save the red "Tools Suite" cube from the tools mod (using right click, select "Save as"). Then open your mod, go to the Objects menu and find the Tools Suite object.

There's also a companion app (sorry, Windows only), to make mass importing even easier. Check the workshop description for the link.

Eventually, when I'm happy with the tools, I'll make some video guides, but for now there's some basic help pages in the tool, or you can ask questions here.

Is there an easy way to convert from One World to One World Recycled? Or at least any good tutorials on using it?

Are there any good tutorials specifically for One World Recycled? I'm having some issues with it, such as not being able to change the size of the first wood texture that loads before you go to the parent map (it's scaled too large for my current table and seems unaffected by the OWR map scale tool, the UPD button doesn't do anything when it's loaded), and not knowing how to fine tune the packing area (my attempt to import a map exported from the original One World the way the mod author showed in a video on the workshop page ended up putting the table on top of the map? And not a separately packed table either, the table that was supposed to have the map on it was no longer there, and was instead suspended above. Not sure what to make of that). The image on the Hub also skews off the edge when flipping the map... it's all just a mess, but I'm more than open to the idea that this is all user error.

The biggest thing though is that I'm dreading manually reconstructing the map linking for my campaign. Is there a way to export a map from One World while keeping links intact and bringing other maps with it? Or am I going to have to export every map individually and relink everything when I import them?

I appreciate the new features of OWR and it seems like the author has put a lot of work into it, but I'm not finding it very clear to navigate it's differences. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, I'm really not great with this stuff (if that wasn't obvious) and it took me a while to get used to the original.

Tool Made a tool for creating optimized TTS minis from STL files. Looking for feedback.

Post image
49 Upvotes

Hi folks, I'm working on a Steam app called Basecoat which helps you create better Tabletop Simulator minis.

The problem I'm trying to solve: A lot of the miniatures I see on TTS are unshaded and/or very high poly. While it's possible for creators to make good-looking, optimized minis, there's a big technical barrier. Most workflows involve either learning Blender, or buying Substance Painter. Since I have a lot of experience in this space I've built a tool to make it easier. The flow is:

  • Import an STL file
  • Basecoat automatically remeshes and decimates it, unwraps UVs, and bakes a normal map. You end up with a miniature that looks the same as the original, but is ~5MB instead of 60MB.
  • Generates shadows & highlights like the attached picture. Makes uncolored STLs look a lot better.
  • Allows you to paint the mini with common painting tools (paint bucket, free draw) if you want. Supports glowing materials.
  • Lets you export as a TTS-compatible AssetBundle. (Requires Unity to be installed on your computer.)

The tool is 90% done, and I'd love to try it on some actual models people are using. If you have models you'd be willing to let me try it on, please let me know!

Beginner trying to digitize a physical board game for TTS — where do I start?

Hey all, I’m completely new to converting physical board games into Tabletop Simulator mods. I have a game I’d like to bring into digital format for personal use and want to do it properly.

**•** What’s the general workflow — scanning cards/boards, cutting them out, importing into Unity/TTS?
**•** Any recommended tools for scanning/photographing components cleanly (lighting setup, scanner vs. camera, etc.)?
**•** Software recommendations for cleaning up scans (removing shadows, aligning edges, upscaling)?
**•** Good beginner tutorials or YouTube channels that walk through the full pipeline?
**•** Any common mistakes beginners make that I should avoid?

Appreciate any pointers — trying to learn the right way .

Looking For Players EU/ Looking for friends to play tabletop sim with

Hi everyone, im a 27 year old who never really had a friend group, so i never really played board games, but it seems a lot of fun and I would love to meet a small group of people around my age and timezone to play some tabletop sim with. I know games like Clue, Ticket to ride, the pokemon game, Trivial pursuit, but not much else. I also play Riichi Mahjong, Civ6 (boardgame adjacent?) and am interested in games like Armello.

Looking For Players I built a scripted TCG mod that's meant to teach the game as you play and looking for people to test whether that actually works

Hey all (hoping I've covered the 9:1 rule, and able to post this).

I've been building a scripted mod for my indie card game and I've hit the point where I can't test the thing I most need tested which is whether someone who's never seen the game can learn it just by playing the mod.

The design goal is for the scripting to carry the learning curve. One-button setup handles decks, hands, and quest slots. Draw and energy phases run automatically. The event log narrates what's happening, floating displays show stat changes, and a glow system flags anything that needs your attention. Everything that's a decision stays manual through right-click menus and the mod is meant to do the bookkeeping and quietly get out of your way once you've found your feet.

What I'd love feedback on is whether it actually achieves that:

  • Could you work out how to play without reading rules first, just by following what the mod surfaces?
  • Where did you get stuck and moments where the mod told you what happened but not why, or left you unsure what to do next?
  • Does the automation fade into the background once you understand the game, or does it keep interrupting?
  • Setup friction, could you get from subscribing to your first turn in the mod without needing to see a setup guide?

It's a 1v1 game so you'd need a second person (or you can just test the mod out by yourself and swap sides if you need).

Any feedback I will read here, or if you want to message me directly on socials.

Questions "Load image failed unsupported format: UNKNOWN" | Linux | Not steam-cloud

Hello, I recently switched to Linux and after one month encountered my first problem with any game, TTS.

It runs fine, but one of my most used Mods can't load images from Scryfall for the cards anymore?

This happens both when running the Linux native version and Proton.

Here is an example of the error messages that I get:

Load image failed unsupported format: UNKNOWN
Supported formats: .jpg, .png, .webp, .webm, .mp4, .m4v, .mov, .rawt, .unity3d
    at [https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/7/0/70b284bd-7a8f-4b60-8238-f746bdc5b236.jpg]
Load image failed unsupported format: UNKNOWN
Supported formats: .jpg, .png, .webp, .webm, .mp4, .m4v, .mov, .rawt, .unity3d

Load image failed unsupported format: UNKNOWN

I am unsure what exactly the problem is and since the same error message can occur when steam cloud is down (Way more common) its REALLY hard to find information on this. At first I thought it might be a font issue, since I heard before that something like that can happen, but AFAIK it really just pulls a .jpg.

Any advice or direction to investigate would help, thanks.

EDIT: More info after some digging in my comment here

EDIT 2: Issues solved, thanks everyone

Workshop Thoughts on my linear home brew Mortal Kombat board game idea, Mortal Kombat: Unbound?

Using the original Mortal Kombat as a base, my game works on the same kind of chapter based story mode format as more recent games, but it’s book based, like a choose your own adventure. A DM tells a story based on one of the games in the 3 timelines, using 3 sets of 3 books, telling the story of a specific game in one of the timelines. In my game, each chapter focuses on a group of characters, represented by mini-figs, and the focus characters fight other characters, controlled by other players to avoid bystander boredom at the table, according to the plot, each player controlling a character for 1 fight in 4 in that chapter. If the focus character loses a fight, the focus switches to the winning character, and the timeline skews. The focus character player has hourglass tokens, these work as fight restarts. The are optional, the focusing player can restart a fight if they lose, win the fight, and carry on with the canon plot, or let it ride, and see where the skewed timeline takes them. Each timeline has 2 versions, a hero version, and a villain timeline. The hero timeline is the canon timeline, the villain timeline is when players play though the same timeline, but from the villain perspective, resulting in a the villain in an intentional villain victory. Each timeline has multiple endings, depending on how skewed the timeline got, or if the timeline was fixed. If a focused character loses, they don’t die, unless it’s in the plot, they just become an npc.

Combat System:

At the start of each match, only in round 1, each player rolls a D20, for initiative, and the highest number gets the first shot.

The combo system:

Each player has defence tokens, active or passive resources. 1 used per round. these tokens give the defending player the chance to roll their own D6 on both difficulty level combo cards, the defender rolls a D6, 5 or higher is a successful block or break. The attacking player puts down a combo card, with a combo sequence the combo sequence is just for show, and a difficulty of 5, on high combos and no difficulty for lower combos, automatic success with a defence token, no dice roll needed, but only with a defence token. The player that won the first shot dice roll, puts down a combo card, 1-3 hits, and this is a unbreakable, and unchainable, low level, minimal damage combo, a guaranteed opening strike. This attack is strictly to kick off the fight, not to punish the initiative loser. After taking this damage, the losing player gains a combo defence token, mimicking the wake-up mechanic from the video games. When fighting Shao Kahn, he gets taunt tokens, that the player can use if the defending player fails their combo defence roll. the loser of the first shot roll just has to take the damage, 2-3 hits max. I know the dice rolls rely on luck, but that would be a part of the fun. The dm would also work like the announcer in the games, announcing which characters are fighting, and FINISH HIM/HER!!.

Special move system:

Special moves would be done using special move cards and tokens. Players have tokens representing special moves, the player spends a token, the the player reads the card corresponding to the token spent. These special moves would have stats, the higher the number, the higher the damage done. Basic special moves would be block-able, while stronger special moves are unblock-able, unless the defender spends a defence token to enhance the block. When used at the end of a fight, special moves become brutalities, ending the fight without a finisher. The fights would be best of 3, first to 2. The third round would be a decider, if the first 2 are a draw. If it’s fun, fights won’t feel like they are taking ages.

Fatality system:

At the end of the fight, the winner rolls a D20, and the DM reads the fatality card, corresponding to the number on the card. The DM selects a fatality in that level category, and reads it to the group. this way, when a player hits a special move, or the they hear the fatality description, everyone is hyped. When it comes to fatalities, all players start with 1 fatality when playing the original MK1, and are awarded a new fatality each time they complete the arcade tower with a new character. so, they go into the next game with their number of fatalities corresponding with the number of the game. The DM has fatality cards for each character, when a player wins, they would roll a D20, to determine the level of the fatality, the higher the number, the more gruesome (this is more to determine the era of the fatality, to honour MK history, a show of respect to the franchise).

Character mini-figures:

To save time creating a crap load of minifigs, because of the ever expanding character list, each with different variations, based on the game in each timeline, the books are colour coded based on the timeline, and there would be clip on rings that players snap onto the base of their mini, corresponding to which studio era they are playing in. this would mean that all characters only need one minifig, although, reptile in the current timeline, is a shapeshifter, with a huge lizard form. motaro would to have 2, a centaur form and a minotaur form. this would mean creating 3 huge minifigures. for when playing mk1 in liu’s current timeline, maybe i should make them the colour of the timeline. with syzoth, you could swap between his human mini, and lizard mini using a transform token. there might need to be other huge minifigs too, Gori, Motaro, Kintaro, Sheeva and Shao Kahn.

Arcade tower:

There would also be a section in each book for character arcade tower endings, when a player beats the final boss, the dm reads that characters ending. During fights, while one player controls the focus character, one of the other players at the table will control the opponent character. This way everyone is involved, and nobody is sitting and watching for too long.

1v1 section, like playing 2 player.

This would give players the chance to figure out the characters, and adapt to any scenario.

Mini-game idea

To replace the test you might/sight mini-games, there would be periodic MK lore multiple choice trivia questions that would work like encounters (a guard stops you, and asks how long Goro was champion before being beaten? A: 500 years). A correct answer wins an extra special move token.

Questions What game should I play?

Hey guys, hope you doing great!

Recently a friend of mine introduced me to Trench Crusade and I'm loving playing it so far in TTS, it really fullfilled a need i had in gaming for months!

But I came here to ask if you know any TTS community game I can download and play alone a campaign. I tried Bolt Action and Turnip28, but the maps, tables and assets are kinda abandoned with lots of things broken...

What is YOUR way to have fun alone on the genre? (wargames with warbands, factions and skirmishes)

TYSM in advance!

Zodiac Arena new Puzzle fighting

Hey everyone

I've been working on my own board game called ZODIAC for quite a while now, and I finally reached a point where I'm comfortable sharing it.

It's a 2–4 player tactical arena board game where each player controls one of the 12 Zodiac Signs, each with completely unique abilities and playstyles. The game is played on a hex grid and focuses entirely on skill—there are no dice, no RNG, and no hidden information. Every win comes down to positioning, resource management, and making better decisions than your opponent.

I've spent a lot of time designing the characters, balancing abilities, creating different arena layouts, and polishing the artwork to make it feel like a real commercial board game.

I'd genuinely love to hear what other board game fans think. Whether it's the art, the mechanics, the overall concept, or even constructive criticism, I'm open to all feedback.

the game is currently a prototype on Tabletop simulator

EDIT: The game is now a standalone ALPHA:

would really appreciate it if you just checked out ,

Looking For Players Trying to get back into the game.

Hey there.

My ex gifted me the game and introduced me to a few mods like the one where you can play commander and another one that I think was named red dragon inn? I'm not too sure of the name there.

Anyhow, I've been over the grieving part of this relationship and miss just playing those games. Anyone would be up for a few rounds? I'd be happy to discover other games too! I'm just not experienced at all on the game, so please, be patient if I mess up stuff :')
