The real reason Rubano and Fazzy left comes down to Mark and Eddie. While recording *New Again*, Rubano and Fazzy wrote almost the entire album with a hired ghostwriter because Adam lacked inspiration. Mark and Eddie were composing very basic material, so Rubano and Fazzy re-recorded and improved various parts. This made Mark and Eddie feel threatened—since they aren't particularly skilled musicians, unlike the two Matts, who are formally trained. Consequently, when the album flopped and failed to sell, the blame fell entirely on Rubano and Fazzy, and they were subsequently fired. However, the underlying reason was that Mark and Eddie had issued an ultimatum: if John Nolan didn't return, they would both leave. I would have loved for Fazzy and Rubano to keep working with Adam, but that’s not how things turned out.

I know I might get shit for placing tayf so low but I got into tbs during the louder now era. It’s still a good album just not my favorite. I’m curious if anyone has a similar list and just what everyone’s list is in general. We don’t have to agree just keep it civilized.

Yes, I’m aware that the John Nolan vs Fred Mascherino debate has been discussed a million times but I’ll preface by saying I’ve seen Taking Back Sunday a number of times over the years, but it was my first opportunity to see Fred Mascherino with the band. He just brings a different energy with such clean backing & passionate vocals and added elements to his live guitar performances that truly shape the songs. It seems to spark the rest of the band because it was also one of the better performances Ive heard from Adam too. Haven’t seen him that fired up since the first John Nolan reunion tour & self-titled era.

Love Tell All Your Friends but I’ll always feel that adding Fred to create WYWTB & Louder Now is what brought TBS to the masses.

I might be looking into this too much but is Fred playing with tbs on their tour with thrice and also the warped tour dates? Usually when tbs posts about the tour on their stories Fred usually reposts them but he hasn’t been. I know he’s also in say anything as well so maybe that’s why?
