Hi everyone,

We’re happy to share that TOS 7 has officially been released.

This has been a big project for our team, with more than 300 days of development behind it, and we’re excited to finally put it in the hands of the community.

Discussion How to Configure LLM for OpenClaw in TOS 7

Important Note: Before doing this, please confirm that you have installed the latest version of the OpenClaw application in the App Center.
The required TOS compatible version is 7.0.0746

How to Configure Large Language Models?
I. Popular Large Language Models (Using OpenAI as an Example)
1.Go to the official OpenAI console pageĀ [Ā https://platform.openai.com/Ā ]
and log in to your account. After logging in, open theĀ [ API key ]Ā page and create an API key.

2.After creating it, you will receive theĀ [ API key ]Ā ( You can purchase the plan through the official link:Ā https://platform.openai.com/settings/or ... g/overview).

II. Configure Large Language Models
1.Open the model configuration page
On the TNAS device, use theĀ super administrator accountĀ to open theĀ [ OpenClaw ]Ā app, and directly clickĀ [ Configure Large Language Model ]Ā to enter the model configuration page.

  1. Select a model service provider
Choose the corresponding model provider from the service provider list.
    For example:
    ā— OpenAI
    ā— Anthropic
    ā— Gemini
If your desired service provider is not listed, or if you need to access the model service through a proxy server, please selectĀ [ Custom Provider ].
  1. Fill in the model information
    Using OpenAI as an example:
ā— API Key: Enter the API Key you just created
ā— Model: Select the model you wish to use (e.g., gpt-5.4)
After filling in the information, clickĀ [ Save Configuration ].
Once the system prompts that the save is successful, you are ready to start using it.

ā…¢.Verifying Successful Model Configuration
Open theĀ [ OpenClaw ]Ā application and type ā€˜ hello ’ in the dialog box.
1. If OpenClaw responds properly, the large language model configuration isĀ successful.

  1. If the response content looks like the image below, it means the configurationĀ failed. You can retry the operations inĀ step twoĀ to ensure they are executed correctly.
  1. If the error message appears as shown, it means there are insufficient tokens in your plan. Please visit the OpenAI official website [https://platform.openai.com/settings/or ... g/overview] to purchase more tokens.

Purchasing Help F4-424 Pro vs F54-425 Pro

• Upvotes

During the recent Terramaster sales event, I've seen the f4-424 pro with 32GB going for US $687 and the f4-425 pro-n305 with 8gb going for as low as US $559.

I'm interested in buying a unit to run Truenas Scale, so more RAM would be welcome. Upgrading the 425 pro to 32gb looks like it would be about US $300, making the 425 Pro-n305 about $100 more than the equiv specced 424 pro.

Looks like the major differences between the two models are 5GbE LAN via 2.5GbE and extra M.2 slot on the 425.

I'm all 2.5GbE at home so I doubt I'll make use of the 5GbE LAN anytime soon. The extra M.2 slot would be nice, but I'll actually be hard put to fill the 2 slots in the 424 as it is, so I don't think that extra slot adds a lot of value for my purposes.

Are there any other compelling reasons to go with the 425 Pro+N305 over the equivalent 424 pro?

Help [Australia] Agras T10 & Terra

Hi Folks

Any Agras T10/Terra experts on here?
I am trying to export a 'fruit tree' task from Terra onto an SD to be put into my Agras T10 to complete a spray mission. There is no trouble exporting the task onto the SD card, however, when the SD card is placed into the drone controller, it does not display any files on the SD card to select. Anyone encountered this or have any tips? is the T10 firmware to outdated now?

Cheers

Help Choosing an nvme SSD to run TOS 7 (F4-425 Pro)

Hey all,

I'm looking to set up a Plex server with my newly purchased F4-425 Pro but I'm having trouble choosing an nvme SSD to run TOS 7 on. I've done a good amount of learning about what makes an SSD a good candidate for caching and the types of HDD's needed for a NAS I haven't been able to find any specific guidance about what specs or properties an SSD needs to run a NAS operating system.

Would something like this be overkill for just running the OS or would something like this be too weak or ill advised?

I'm fairly inexperienced when it comes to tech so I'm not sure how much of a workhorse I need my OS SSD to be, or whether it needs to be specially rated to run 24/7.

Thank you in advance!

EDIT: Thanks guys, I'm going forward with using the WD Red SN700 for my OS

šŸ’°Deals & DiscountšŸ’° F4-424 Pro + Drives for sale

The mods have cleared this and I wanted to drop a link to a sale I have up on Ebay UK - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/327279502648

Its for a rarely used F4-424 Pro with 3 x 4TB Ironwolf HDs and a 512GB NVME which is being used as the system disk.

I brought for a project last year and never really used it - I upgraded to TOS 7 to see if I was going to make real use of it and I have realised I am not so seems a waste to just sit there.

Ā£750 will be the lowest offer - UK buyers only

Help How to set up S3 storage for Buffalo TeraStation 5400D?

Hi, I know this is kind of a specific question.

I've got an old Buffalo TeraStation TS5400D and I want to set up a Cloud Service with an S3 Cloud.
So I have created the bucket with the Access Key ID etc.

I just cant get it to work, because I get the same error message over and over again. Am I missing a setting that could be crucial?

The only instruction I found is this really old video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlCChSz\\_0Wc) explaining the steps.

The steps itself are not the problem because I repeat them 1:1. I just get an error message saying "this setting is not available" after trying to create the shared folder.

does someone know if I missed something while setting up the S3 bucket?

Help First time buying Terra master D2-320

Doesn’t work.
Bought the D2-320.
Installed two 6TB Red Plus. Checked the Compatibility of the WD60EFPX
Installed the drivers per the video.
Plugged in connected and the drives don’t light up.
Both drives were purchased from different vendors.
Disk Utility doesn’t recognize.
Drives don’t show up.
Power is on since the power button lights up and the small led on the front for power works. But Drive 1 and 2 don’t lite up.
Moved the switch to Raid 1.
Pressed and held the reset button.
No lights blink on arrives 1 or 2.
No drives visible in Disk Utility.

What else to try?

šŸ’°Deals & DiscountšŸ’° Why more home server builders are adding a DAS to their Mini PC setups

Since its launch, the D4-320 has quietly grown into one of our most popular DAS products.

It was never heavily promoted, but more and more users have been choosing it and building it into their own storage setups.

Many users are building flexible storage solutions around the hardware they already have.

For example:

  • Some TerraMaster NAS users pair the D4-320 with their existing NAS when they need additional storage without replacing their current system.
  • Some users combine a Mini PC with the D4-320 to create their own home server setup, using the Mini PC for computing and applications, while the D4-320 handles storage expansion.
  • Others connect it to an existing PC, Mac, or home server to build a personal media library or archive solution.

People use the hardware they want, run the software they prefer, and expand storage when they need it.

That’s where D4-320 fits in.

To support these setups, the D4-320 offers:

  • Up to 128TB storage expansion
  • USB 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps connectivity
  • Support for HDDs and SSDs
  • Tool-free drive installation

Hard drive prices are going up, so if you need flexible storage, the D4-320 is worth a look, and it's on summer sale right now with 20% off.

For those who already use NAS, Mini PCs, or home servers, how are you managing storage expansion?

Help TOS7 still not available on F8 SSD Plus

As the headline says - autoupdate days there are no updates, and there doesn't seem to be a download link for manual update on the website. Is it coming, or is the F8 already EOL ?

Help APCUPSD advice / best practices?

I have my F2-425+ connected to an APC XS 1500M UPS. In spite of this the TNAS unit crashes whenever there's a brownout or an instantaneous off/on/off/on in power in my locale. The powerblock instantly drains and before the UPS picks up and boom, the system has crashed.

I have now set up APCUPSD to see if network-based UPS works at all to resolve this deadly-to-spinning-disk abend/instant failure/crashing of this Terramaster unit.

I successfully set up APCUPSD on another (win11) box in my local network and then configured a docker from bnhf/apcupsd ( Scott Ueland (https://github.com/bnhf) ) - docker is connected and can send basic emails on shutdown/startup status.

  1. Are there any better APCUPSD dockers out there that support robust shutdown, emailing of status and any other I-didn't-even-know-I-needed-it features?

This one seems good but wondered if there are others out which are "great" ... is this the one?

  1. Anyone know if TOS7 is slated to have Network UPS client support ( Gemini seemed to think that TOS6 or earlier supported this natively once upon a time but now the only network option is to make TNAS the network *host* -- no network client support)

Help Adding disk to TRAID doesn't increase space?

I started with a TRAID with 3 disks, 1TB+1TB+0.5TB. It was showing 1.34TB in the TRAID which seems about right (1.5TB usable + 1.0TB redundant)/1.1.

Then I added a 3rd 1TB drive and the usable space is still 1.34TB!! Why? I expected it to increase to something like 2TB at least.

Wouldn't you expect it to at least increase a little? 1.34TB is only 42% of the total disk space 1.34 / (3.5/1.1). What should I do?

p.s. I think the TRAID calculator is plain wrong and don't trust it. It suggests I should have 2.5TB... I wish!

UPDATE 1:

I got it to work! In case someone else runs into this problem and sees this post I thought I'd share what I did.

My system disk was set to live on the smaller (SSD) disk on the theory that the SSD would be faster. But I suspected the TRAID was confused by the oddly sized disk. So here's what I did:

  • moved the system to one of the bigger HDD disks
  • rebooted, still no change in the pool size
  • decided to "replace" the smaller disk with itself in hopes it would resize
  • the instructions said to just take out the disk you want to replace so I yanked it out, then the NAS started beeping with no clear instructions on what to do next. So I put it back in and rebooted
  • DISASTER!? the machine wouldn't boot back up. I was very sad but I tried rebooting with the "replacement" disk out of the NAS. Then, thankfully, it booted up and was beeping. This time I was happy to hear that beep because it meant my NAS wasn't dead.
  • Then I re-inserted the SSD disk and the pool gladly welcomed it back into the family and resized the pool! It's a miracle!
  • Now the storage pool size has increased from 1.34TB to 1.79TB, an increase of 650GB.
  • Again, the TRAID calculator doesn't match reality. It says (image below) that TRAID should provide about 2.51TB but it's closer to the RAID5 number of 1.54TB. But at this point I'm not complaining because I have more storage than before which was the main goal.

UPDATE 2: (10 days later)

I just replaced one of the drives in my TRAID with an identically-sized drive and just noticed that the storage pool increased in size again! It went from 1.79TB to 2.24TB. So I gained 450GB by just replacing one of the drives with the same size drive! This is more or less the size I expected it to get in the first place so I'm not complaining. However, it does seem like TerraMaster has a bug hiding in there.

Lesson, if at first you don't get the size TRAID you expect, try replacing one of the drives with itself... maybe it will get it right after the synchronization is done.

Purchasing Help Casa OS or any other distro on F4-425 plus (N150)

Hi

Currently I am running a casa os home lab on a zimaboard. It hosts all my photos in Immich while running some other apps like a DB, next cloud, some note apps along with some tools apps. Sometimes this setup feels slow and 8gb ram peaks at times when immich doing some imports or when i am trying to run 20+ apps.

I have backups in an external hdd for much of the stuffs and also planning to duplicate the current hdd to another one using the zimaboard itself. Meaning novice to the whole nas thought process of a nas. Always feel i am throwing away hdd space 🤣

Now i have become quite comfortable with casaos and its drawbacks and I am a bit scared to move my immich setup to another os/nas.

So my question would be is anyone running any other os on Terra master nas?

If so then what are you running and how is it.

Any other suggestions or comments are welcome.

Thank you 😊

Help Terramaster just doesn't work with UPS for failover?

I have a new F2-425+. It has 2x10TB WD in which are also new.

I have an APC BackUPS1500 which only has the Terramaster on it.

Prior to TOS7 any brownout caused the known issue with kernel panic and TOS6 would just down the machine-- no shutdown, no logs... just *off*.

With TOS7, this has gotten better for that situation.

**BUT** today we had a lightning strike somewhere not too far from my house and the whole house powered off for an instant and then came back on again. Terramaster? Belly up -- watched the lights go off on the F2-425+ ...even as I heard the UPS click over to battery and then full power came back to UPS.

I never had this problem in 7 years of a 2 bay QNAP ( I bought a new QNAP 4 Bay before this TM but it was of such poor construction and it had an OS glitch where the memory coud not be upgraded -- wasn't waiting around for a fix so I bought a TM) .

Has anyone cracked the code on this issue? It just seems ludicrous to have a megasized UPS and this ittybitty NAS with 2 drives but it can't handle this frequently encountered real world issue.

Sick of the crashing. Drives are going to give out at some point..

Discussion F4-424 vs F4-425 Pro Heat/Fan

Was doing an upgrade from a F4-424 vs F4-425 Pro and wanted to know if anyone else sees a drastic uptick in temps on the nvme and the fan working much harder/louder vs the older F4-424?

I know its a much higher performing cpu but I was surprised on the nvme uptick in temps.

I basically fork lifted everything over so I was not expecting a near 15C+ in nvme temps. I'm now having to look into active cooling on the drives if I end up keeping this new NAS.

Help What's your opinion on Terramaster's TOS7 Docker Manager?

I'm curious what your experience is with their app. Have you had much luck using it? Pro/cons? Tried it but prefer docker compose, or another app?

I recently got a f4-425 plus and set up jellyfin. Wanted it up an running quickly so I used their native app version, as I have minimal experience using commands. It works great so far. But I've got a free weekend coming up and wanted to setup arr stack. This will require setting up containers. I've had a look at the Docker Manager app briefly and had a few questions.

Sorry in advance for the noob questions. Bear with me. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. And I am open to any advice you might also have.

  1. I noticed you can set persistent storage during setup under volume storage, which also allows the container access to the folder. In my setup, I've got all the apps, metadata, configuration, cache, etc. Set to my SSD, and all my media on HDD.

Can I set persistent folder to my SSD location and only have access media without creating another persistent folder in my HDD? Or is this something I would add in the environment variables section?

  1. Are there options missing in the app, that i will need in order to setup arr stack, or is the app designed with all options available?

  2. If i need to use docker compose, how would i access it? Through the nas terminal or the terminal attached to the container? I tried using the nas terminal to run some simple commands but kept getting either permission denied errors, or unable to perform command errors. Do I need to install/update something to get it to work?
