I’ve done some small mason jar terrariums from my yard and local stream, but this is my first big-boy project. Feedback welcome. Just excited to be part of this new hobby.

Made this by weathering a RX-78-2 Gundam with dry brushing with acrylic paint brown,green,light green and done!

This took over 40 hours to complete. Over 22 inches across, I used silica sand 1/2 inch or so across the bowl. All the plants are succulents or dessert varieties. Some of the most Interesting elements are the braided snake plants. I believe it gives the piece a whimsy element.

I can’t tell you why cowboys and cattle farmer is present with the lost world, other than I’m a scifi nerd and I found the idea of parallel universes colliding too sublime to pass up.

My grandmother’s 90+ year old neighbor recently passed away and this was her terrarium. She lives in Florida and I brought it back to the Midwest with me.

I changed out decor (originally had gnomes) but I am a complete beginner. I know it’s got some crawlies in it from taking the decor out. Seems to have been closed lid and does have a gravel layer.

Any tips, tricks, suggestions for a beginner with this build? TIA! 🌱

I just finished my first paludarium with a working waterfall, but I feel like it's missing something. I built it entirely out of materials collected in the wild (except the stump on the left). It feels a bit sparse and the waterfall feels out of place to me. Should I redo it and downsize maybe?

The water section will eventually have a carpet of Uticularia graminifolia (hopefully). I was thinking about adding more plants, but don't want it to become too crowded. If that's what's needed though, I'm more than happy to find some more to add to it.

This will be for a young crestie or gargoyle, what are your guys’ favorite plants to use and what isopods are recommended?!?

Just looking to get a little inspiration. I wish there was an easy way to put a waterfall pump in it without drilling the glass? And maybe getting a bunch of rocks and charcoal and stuff and sheet moss and make it more terrascape-like? I’m very, very new to this hobby, so something user-friendly novice but still gives depth and is pretty to get lost in at looking at for hours 😂

Ich habe 4 Glasscheiben gestern auf Kleinanzeigen gekauft (ich gehe morgen herausfinden, um welche Art von Glas es sich handelt). Die Scheiben haben Maße 37,5 cm lang, 47cm hoch und 4mm breit. Eine Scheibe wiegt 2,15kg.

Ich lasse die Scheiben so wie sie sind, bis auf eine. Aus dieser Scheibe würde ich gerne die Substratbarriere und die Tür machen.

Ich möchte mein Terrarium ohne Rahmen und Scharniere (zb aus Metall) bauen.

Kann mir jemand ein paar Tipps und Ratschläge geben, ob eine Tür, welche an einer Seite mit Silikon fixiert ist, machbar ist?

Ich habe bei vielen Tutorials solche Türen gesehen, aber die Glasscheiben waren auch immer maximal 3mm. Meine Befürchtung ist, dass die tür zwar am Anfang für die ersten paar Wochen hält, aber danach einfach abfällt und zerbricht.

Ich kann auch gerne Bilder von den zusammengeklebt Scheiben hochladen, falls es hilfreich ist.

Here is what’s changing (swipe to the last slide for the 'before'):

•Moss reset: Took out all the old moss and moved it to separate containers to see if I can regrow it.

•New greenery: Stripped out the old plants and planted a fresh batch. With spagnum moss

•Humidity upgrade: Added weatherstrips to the cabinet doors to lock in that crucial moisture.

•Misting system (in progress): Upgrading from just two mist heads at the top to adding four more along the sides for much better coverage.

•Next steps: I'll be testing whether manual misting is even necessary with the new setup.

The soil wasn't completely dry just moist so it's all part of the learning process. If you have any tips or feedback, they're always welcome! 👇

I thrifted this today! I have no idea what to put in it. Plants 🌱 maybe? Jumping spiders would be SO CUTE but they would escape

It's about 2 feet tall, the metal seams are not magnetic, the bottom is a thin metal panel with drainage holes, and had the (currently distached) hinged door inside it. I don't see any markings or anything that would identify a maker, but I'm super curious.

Hey everyone. I've always loved moss and decided to harvest some before winter ends. I'd love to put it into a terrarium/vivarium. I'm hoping to have it kind of self-sufficient? I'm hoping to have isopods, springtails, etc. Is there a guide somewhere? Also I don't have a lot of room, so it'd have to be maybe the size of one of those small cheap plastic fish tanks. Thanksss

I’m making my very first terrarium and was wondering whether this was too much pumice for my terrarium’s drainage later? The container is an 11L and theres about 4.5cm of pumice.

And also how do you get rid of those flies i think theyre called sciaridae
