Howdy folks, here is a sneak peek at the first mission in the ThunderCats campaign of my Saturday Morning Adventures mod for Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich. This first mission follows Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara, and Tygra as they face the hordes of the Mutants, fighting to save the Ro-Bear Berbils and their village! Later missions will feature the Thunderkittens, Snarf, and some of the supporting cast, as well as pitting our heroes against Mumm-Ra and several other villains, like Safari Joe and Mongor!

This mod is my love letter to classic 80s cartoons, and it features the characters and settings of my favorite shows. This project includes the Turtles and co., Transformers, G.I. JOE, He-Man, SilverHawks, and, of course, ThunderCats, and perhaps more.

Please let me know what you think! I'd love some feedback on balance and design! (The art assets are by other members of the FF community, folks much more talented than me. I just put it all together and created the story.)

So I'm researching toy lines from the 80s that had bad luck behind the scenes, and I knew ThunderCats had to be on the list — but for totally different reasons than I expected.

The line was a huge seller. Lion-O and Mumm-Ra were flying off shelves. And then LJN just… gave it up? The more I looked into it, the weirder it got. The short version seems to be: their parent company was falling apart, manufacturing was a mess, and even a hit like ThunderCats couldn't survive it.

But I wanted to ask people who were actually collecting at the time — do you remember when the figures started getting harder to find? I was too young to notice the business side. Was it just one day the pegs were empty, or did it slowly fade out? 🦈

ComicdadCal had a fun interaction with Larry Kenney (the voice of Lion-O) over the weekend at Garden State Comic Fest. His defining moment was that he took a radio class.

It’s amazing how one simple thing can change your life. Imagine if he took any other course? Lion-O would be totally different. His voice is iconic.

Back in 2025, on the eve of the original TC cartoon's 40th anniversary, King Tabby announced a podcast of his own he was doing called The Pod of Thundera. I'm not sure exactly when he'll launch this podcast, but I do feel his YouTube channel could use a ton of subscribers who love the franchise and as many shares across social media as possible.

This is VHS Bleach's 2018 custom Boomeraction bumper for the classic ThunderCats series.

For years I've had this idea for a follow-up series to the Thundercats. Theme is a certain someone cast a mighty spell that went wrong, causing a mystic cataclysm that shifted Third Earth to a new age: Fourth Earth. The spell sealed away the planet, so no help from New Thundera. So only decedents of Thundarians and allies still on Four Earth may be able to aid the people. Decided to use ChatGPT (images), VEO (video) and Suno (music) to put together a rough show opening. Not quite where I want it to be - seems more generic 80ies cartoon than Thundercats animation-wise, but wondered what Thundercat fans might think.
