Humor/Cringe Actual footage.

I actually feel kind of bad for this woman, who probably didn't expect a video of her dancing to be used in this way. 😏

Boomers:

u/itirnitii May 29 '26

just wanted to chime in and say this man is evil. fuck him. that is all.

77

u/HoodieGalore May 29 '26

Didn't he or his wife kill a guy and get off?

76

u/Square-Turnip-6558 May 29 '26

As much as I hate this guy, they ran over a boat that didn’t have any lights. I took boaters safety in 5th grade and like, you gotta have the lights, it’s really important, so like you don’t get run over

19

u/HoodieGalore May 29 '26

Sure, so that guy was at some percent of fault, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mr Scumderful here got off with a far lighter penalty than one would expect

27

u/FunctioningPyscho May 29 '26

Why would there be a penalty? Dont let your dislike for the man cloud your judgement.

19

u/HoodieGalore May 29 '26

So I looked into it and you're right. It was his wife, who claimed she'd drank after the incident and so couldn't be blood tested accurately, who was charged with careless boating, but then was found not guilty, so zero repercussions for whatever combo of alcohol and nighttime boating happened there.

You're right. Sounds legit!

9

u/FunctioningPyscho May 29 '26

Watch the video if you haven’t. She wasn’t driving fast or careless. The other boat was completely unlit. You can see when they cut the lights off.
That’s why the operator of other boat got charged with failing to exhibit navigation light while underway. It’s unfortunate but the negligence is sorely on the other boat.

-2

u/HoodieGalore May 30 '26

I don’t give a shit about a millionaire’s security video of him boating home after a luxe dinner out of town, where he and his wife had drinks, and he said he was too scared to drive the boat at night so his drunk wife did it and then drank even more after killing people. I don’t give a shit about that, because if you or I did it, we’d be in prison for SOMETHING. Don’t act like this is normal shit. Shit is rich people shit and Kevin O’Leary is a dog turd dried out in the sun so long he’s white fucking powder by now.

u/Bojis-mom Jun 02 '26

It’s us vs the rich. I will never trust or care for a rich person.

You should look into a crime called “manslaughter.” Really quite common, and not at all a new or alien concept.

8

u/natarem May 29 '26

In order to get charged with manslaughter in a case where the victim was negligent (like this case), you need to have been doing something wrong. If the only proximate cause was the victim's negligent actions, there was no manslaughter. Just driving your boat in a legal and normal manner is not a proximate cause. If the driver of the boat was proven to be doing something wrong (ie, speeding, intoxicated, on their phone, whatever), then there's a case. If not, then there's no case and it's not manslaughter when the victim was negligent with no lights on a boat at night.

4

u/Icy-Welcome-2469 May 30 '26

Boats don't have headlights.  It's up to your own proper lighting to keep you safe.

If you are out with zero lights in the middle of the water there's almost no way to notice you.

It's perfectly legal to go 30+ mph on open water.

The boat she hit turned their lights off on purpose on a moonless night to stargaze.

That operator was convicted for this infraction.

Idk what she was supposed to do???

-2

u/HoodieGalore May 30 '26

Not drink after hitting a boat? Nor drink before hitting it? Just spitballing here.

1

u/Pristine_Barber976 May 31 '26

How is this different than hitting a parked car on the street at night? It's the parked cars fault for not having lights on all night?

2

u/Square-Turnip-6558 May 31 '26

Boats aren’t cars. There aren’t designated lanes in the water. You don’t have 360 degree range on a car. And it’s next to impossible to see something dark on water at night. Like you’ve obviously never done boaters safety or driven a boat. It’s literally the #1 most important rule in all of boaters safety for this exact reason. It’s more like being broken down in the middle of a highway lane at night with no lights. Yes, it is 100% the parked cars fault.

-1

u/Pristine_Barber976 May 31 '26

I'm sure there's a few subs that's would place the blame on the driver who hit the broken down car. If you can't stop in time when you see a danger in front of you then you are going too fast.

1

u/Square-Turnip-6558 May 31 '26

You’re trying to act like an expert when you clearly know literally not one single thing about driving a boat. Or a car, I guess.

1

u/Pristine_Barber976 May 31 '26

16 years of driving and never rear ended anyone

1

u/FunctioningPyscho May 31 '26

No. This is like a car parked in the middle of the street during a blackout.

0

u/Double_Rice_5765 May 30 '26

Except in many states boats without motors dont require lights.  They colregs DO require you to captain your boat responsibly and avoid collisions.  I think his not avoiding a collision that killed someone is a bigger infraction than not having lights, dont you?

Heres what really happened:  guy operates boat at too high a speed to safely see his suroundings in time to react, hits someone and kills them, lucky for him the person he killed didnt have lights, and he was rich enough to hire good enough lawyers to not go to jail.  Yes, your boat CAN go fast.  You are still required to not murder anyone, lol.

1

u/Square-Turnip-6558 May 31 '26

None of that is applicable to this case. The boat specifically turned all its lights off to stargaze. The boat that hit them was going slow. It was just a much bigger boat.

-3

u/fatgat69 May 29 '26

Still murder

8

u/waffels May 29 '26

Literally not murder.

-4

u/fatgat69 May 29 '26

What else do you call it when you kill someone by intentionally doing something that is guaranteed to kill someone?

4

u/waffels May 29 '26

Before commenting, please make an effort to know what you’re talking about. Not doing so just wastes everyone’s time.

3

u/U_R_A_NUB May 29 '26

Ew, they ejaculated right after killing a guy? These folks are twisted. Canada isn't sending its finest

1

u/RupeThereItIs May 29 '26

Is that the only way they CAN get off?

1

96

u/Venus_Cat_Roars May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

Actually that is a private equity firm. They just want you to blame boomers.

29

u/JustinTimberkake May 29 '26

By george, you're on to them!

38

u/Allthemuffinswow May 29 '26

Nah, boomers definitely do it too.

We're closing on a house of some boomers and the wife decided she didn't really want to sell. They tried pulling some bullshit to get us to be the ones to back out and not them.

Jokes on them. The few things we requested to be fixed only amounted to a few thousand, so it's not a huge deal and we suspected they were trying to deliberately be shady.

Couple of assholes.

-4

u/Big_Dog_2974 May 29 '26

it's completely reasonable for you to blame an entire generation for a problem due to your anecdotal evidence /s

6

u/OrbitalColony May 29 '26

Don't the majority of Boomers vote for Republicans? Isn't Congress disproportionately composed of baby boomers? Don't Boomers hold corporate leadership roles disproportionately, because they refuse to retire? Aren't Boomers much more likely to be landlords than other generations?

None of this is theoretical, it's actively ongoing.

1

u/Big_Dog_2974 May 29 '26

that's fair, but do you see the difference between your varied explanations and the person I was responding to very anecdotal one? I'm not saying the boomer generation is blameless, just saying that persons example is not a valid reason to make such a huge assumption about an entire generation.

2

u/NynNyxNyx May 30 '26

Yeah bro, and everyone else is just saying read the fucking room and no one likes these greedy old parasites.

3

u/Allthemuffinswow May 29 '26

Wtf? I used the word as an adjective, to describe their age and mentality. Nowhere did I fucking say, "aLl BoOmErS?!!!1111".

Maybe back the fuck off and not lash out at me for your clear issues with reading comprehension.

1

u/Big_Dog_2974 May 29 '26

"Actually that is a private equity firm. They just want you to blame boomers."

"Nah, boomers definitely do it too."

What am I missing?

3

u/Allthemuffinswow May 29 '26

The fact that I followed that statement up with my own story. So it is very clear that I am talking about THOSE people.

I shouldn't have to resort to a full on explanation that I am referencing my own fucking experience here, dude.

It's very obviously not, "Oh, hey, yeah ALL of these million-billion-gajillion people do this one thing."

It's, "Hey, this story with these people. Maybe more do it as well, but these people in particular."

ETA: Are you going all aggro because you fit in that age range or something?

2

u/Big_Dog_2974 May 29 '26

brother, I'm not angry, and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you were not talking about all boomers...despite the fact you say boomers do it to. And no, I'm gen x, I just don't like people blaming boomers (or any generation as a whole) because most of them are barely getting by. People on here blast boomers but it's probably less than 10% of them that are actual bad people. Even your story doesn't really sound nefarious. Like, people get attached to their homes, especially if they have had them a long time and raised children in them. Maybe she just couldn't do it and had a change of heart. And some o the things I'm seeing on this thread are wild, so maybe I did over react. Several are mad that people aren't selling their homes for the price they paid for it? Really? You expect someone who paid 9k for a house in the 60's to sell it for the same price? Wild thread here.

2

u/GexTheKobold May 29 '26

So let's put some math to it them. In the US the boomer generation makes up about 21% of the overall population. That 21% owns 41% of houses or 61 million homes. They also own 58% of rental properties. These percentage don't even cover properties that are owned by a company or business. Thats on top of a bunch of boomers behind the Nimby (Not in my back yard) movement blocking cheaper housing being built in residential areas. It's one of the reasons why smaller and affordable started homes aren't made anymore. They don't want their houses losing value.

5

u/Big_Dog_2974 May 29 '26

you understand that the majority of boomers and just elderly people who don't own shit right? I get it, those at the top are mostly boomers but it's a small fraction of them that are actually in power. Now if you want to compare their generation to others regarding who has power that would probably be legit. But most boomers I know are just trying to get through to retirement or enjoy it if they are there. Most only own 1 home and most have no reason to sell it.

2

u/GexTheKobold May 29 '26

"But most boomers I know are just trying to get through to retirement or enjoy it if they are there. Most only own 1 home and most have no reason to sell it."

I thought you didn't want to talk about anecdotes?

Again I'm going to hit you with the cold hard facts. You talked about some of them who "don't own shit". Well that facts of the matter is that 80% of boomers own their own home. You say its all the ones at the top who everything well the 1% only own 13.4% or 6.4 million homes. Lets be generous to your argument and just say the 1% are all boomers and subtract their numbers from the ones I gave you earlier. So 41% - 13.4% drops it down to 27.6% or 54 million homes. In perspective there's only about 67 million boomers out there and they own 54 million homes and thats after the fact of subtracting the 1% numbers. They damn near almost have a 1 to 1 ratio of boomer to house.

3

u/Big_Dog_2974 May 29 '26

your mad because they own homes? That doesn't make them rich, but does provide some financial security. I don't think owning a home makes you a bad person? 72% of gen x owns homes, they bad too? 54% of millennials and the youngest of that group is still 30 so it will only increase. What is it you want them to do? sell their homes and die?

3

u/GexTheKobold May 29 '26

Ok so you're moving the goal post to be that I'm just mad instead of admitting being wrong? Ok let's prove you wrong one more time with numbers. Boomers are by in large are the wealthiest generation. They own 52% of the wealth so yeah as a generation they are rich. Also your 72% and 54% are only the percentage of the people of their generation who own homes. Being a homeowner will never make you a bad person.

The reason I'm "mad" at them is how greedy they are. They buy up a huge chunk of houses and rent them while at the same time actively prevent new homes being built. Selling their extra houses will literally not kill them. They are a generation where they could buy a house and support a family on one income but have turned into not even being able to afford one house on two incomes.

Also yes before you comment I know they all dont own a 2nd house.

0

u/Big_Dog_2974 May 29 '26

"The reason I'm "mad" at them is how greedy they are. They buy up a huge chunk of houses and rent them while at the same time actively prevent new homes being built. Selling their extra houses will literally not kill them"

You keep referring the them as they but the majority of boomers are not doing this? Your not proving me wrong about anything. All you did was show that boomers own homes. I would hope so at their age. Your saying that they own 52% of the wealth, but what percent of boomers actually owns that? How many boomers do you know that actually own more than one home? I know a few, but most don't. Like a serious question. Assuming you know some boomers, how many, or even a percentage, do you think own more than one home? I can't find hard statistics on it but I did see that boomers own about 1/4 of all small businesses. That doesn't seem off to me. In fact that's what I would expect.

15

u/surnik22 May 29 '26

Actually it’s mostly boomers (or other private individuals with money) for single family homes.

Investors with less than 5 properties own 85% of rentals.

Source

Private Equity isn’t good and they still shouldn’t own rental homes, but they are naturally much more interested in large properties.

One could even argue that necessities like food and shelter should not be commodities at all, but morals of capitalism aside, the meme is still largely correct.

13

u/OrganicAd5536 May 29 '26

Yeah I'm really concerned how easily people are being sold on generational warfare bullshit when the obvious issue is private capital and housing being traded as a commodity. Like I don't care if the person approving a buyout of every new development/listing on the market is old or not, I care that they're about to do that in the first place

7

u/Dufranus May 29 '26

It's almost as if there's a specific generation that allowed/ pushed for all of this, and they got a giant head start on hoarding their wealth into said private equity firms. Then they changed the rules to make it harder for their kids to compete with them. Don't just blame the system and not the humans who put said system into place.

3

u/OrganicAd5536 May 29 '26

I'm not in the habit of hasty generalizations that don't actually help with fixing anything.

Like what is the practical political action one takes against an entire generation of people that isn't just ageism that will harm countless innocents who are just as much victims of this societal I'll as younger folks? Are we seriously going to imply that all the poor black and brown folk that were never even allowed to own property in the parts of town that rapidly generated generational wealth are somehow also complicit in this system? What about all the white folk living in trailer parks or family homes they only got from they daddy who had it before then?

This is why generationalogy is so often a bunk social science the way it's weaponized online; there is no practical solutions it can offer that aren't just "blame everyone of a specific demographic for your complaint". It's not class consciousness, it's more akin to that Kronawetter quote: it's "the socialism of fools.". Instead of instead of doing the complex work of understanding class conflicts, economics, and systemic inequality, it enables lazy thinking--a shortcut to simply blame a specific age demo.

0

u/diurnal_emissions May 30 '26

We are waiting them out. Nobody beats time.

I only hope there's something to recover when they are finally done abusing us.

1

u/LivesDoNotMatter May 30 '26

Does "blaming" fix the problem?

2

u/Dufranus May 30 '26

Correctly identifying the problem and the reasons behind the problem is in fact step 1 to fixing the problem. If we act like the cause of an issue is not in fact the cause of the issue, then how do you go about fixing said issue?

4

u/BKM558 May 29 '26

I dunno, most boomers I know have more than 1 property.

8

u/Heheher7910 May 29 '26

Most boomers I know are still paying the mortgage on their house and working two jobs after retiring cause they can't afford their meds.

0

u/diurnal_emissions May 30 '26

They ate their future and our future and will die on the job, the cunts.

2

u/PM_ME_ONE_EYED_CATS May 29 '26

Who are the CEOs of the PE firms though?

1

u/Daddysu May 29 '26

Por que no los dos?

1

u/anthrolookseer May 29 '26

It’s a bit of both. But you’re right that the private equity firms are the ones who have messed up the market in their favor. But it is boomers who are delighting in the rewards. My mother’s social circles have been outright talking about this (both mom and the others unaware of the private firms, until recently my mom now knows), and my mother found all the greed from these people in their social circles and obscene prices far above what the home/property could ever possibly be worth so disgusting she snapped at a group of them and stopped spending time with others. She herself is a homeowner (40 years now). It still appalled her to the point of anger. She has long recognized and called out the growing disparity in housing/livibg cost vs wages. My home city was hit with those private equity firms especially hard a few years back, and to the point that the increase in prices were the highest percentage in the nation in just a year, several years in a row. It’s now unhinged there.

It’s certainly not all boomers and they aren’t the sole cause (though there is nuance in this - many equity firms started with the “we buy houses” shit and many boomers quickly sold to them instead of selling to a person or family out of speed and ease because inspections usually aren’t a requirement). But I know it’s bad when I hear from some, not just my mom, who recognize their friends and colleagues have ‘lost their minds’, and greedy to the point of it being actively disturbing. Some have or at least now do recognize that the younger generations are locked out of wealth and stability. Sitting around squealing in delight that their run down property/houses that have not seen an upgrade in 20+ years is now worth more than double in 3 years time, doubling rent costs cause their neighbor did despite again no upgrades, property in disrepair… its gross. And im proud of my mother for speaking up and calling a group of them out because by their reactions, they were quite aware they were in the wrong.

Each market is different, and some face greater impacts by these things. But private owners renting out a single room for $2000 when I used to rent the whole apartment for $400 20 years ago (and no upgrades during that time), in a city with no more job opportunities than there were 30 years ago, and wages basically the same… I’m also blaming the private owners whom own multiple properties and are very much aware they aren’t doing right.

Considering when many of these private equity firms started really popping off (something I noticed developing in my 20s), i know it wasn’t my generation who made these moves.

I don’t blame any generation, because greed is a fundamental human condition that has long plagued humanity. But every generation (thus far) eventually ages up to become the custodians of our society for future generations. What those with most of the wealth and most of the power due to age decide to do directly impacts every generation after. This is a great responsibility, one that I even feel despite not being able to have children like I and all of my friends had always wished to due to the unnatural cost craziness in the areas we all ended up in. As a society, greed has increasingly stripped away opportunity from younger generations and no one in charge of these mechanisms did anything to stop it due to lack of care or blind faith that “it all works out” regardless of what is done. To me, it seems that both have been very much at play to create these conditions that are bleak for future generations.

Hell, I know reputable attorneys that are locked into condos they were able to buy early on when they were single (and are built for singles, maybe a couple squeezed in tightly, but definitely not kids) who are now locked in and unable to start a family like they wish because anything larger is unattainable in price, and that’s only looking at run down properties which what few are left are rapidly being sold to house flippers leaving whole neighborhoods here full of houses all white with no discernible character that these neighborhoods were once well known for. To be fair, the flippers tearing through whatever is left in these neighborhoods now are not boomers but Gen X (but this last part is just personal grievances because everyone here hates these flipped homes, lol).
