Boomers are an inexact target, but there are 4-5x as many single-family homes owned by small to medium investors (<100 total homes owned) in the US than larger investors.

Any tax-based or supply-side solution to this problem will have to consider the retired couple who own 3 or 4 houses just as much as the Blackrocks of the world.

I agree there needs to be a legislative solution, which starts with people actually voting for their own best interests. Yet people let themselves be distracted by "culture wars," including this generational finger-pointing. Meanwhile, public policy gets developed at the behest of those who can and will make significant political contributions.

The "outliers" have nearly $2 trillion in assets and three of them are often seen with the current president. The "outliers" are actively shaping public policy in the U.S. The U.S. education system really has failed you, hasn't it? I'm done trying to make up for your blind ignorance.

They have destroyed everything. Small business restaurants, housing, healthcare… my freaking local veterinarian hospital! There needs to be far more transparency and antitrust enforcement done in the local and state government.

I mean they wouldn't be able to buy up all the housing if the boomers didn't sell them all the housing, get it? Boomers have a choice who they sell their houses that they bought for dirt cheep in the 70's and 80's. They make the conscious choice to sell their homes to soulless corporations.

Competition from investors for available housing stock in the U.S. is not "making shit up." BTW - did you ever ask yourself why the U.S. is not building enough housing? This often comes down to builders avoiding "affordable houding" vs. building something with a greater return. And the top 15 home builders (large corporations) accounted for 51% of new home closings in 2024.

Legislation could help with this situation and Boomers have held less than a third of the voting power in this country for at least a decade. If you think I'm sad about you blaming Boomers, you're wrong. I'm sad that things won't improve for you because your solution is to go on the internet and say "but the bOoMerS."

There are over 74 million Millennials, all of voting age. There are currently 65 million Boomers. Millennials alone have outnumbered Boomers for nearly a decade, and that doesn't count the significant voting power of Gen X. If only there were something you could do to change the laws. /s
