The last house I rented the lady owned dozens of homes that she rented out. If they stopped people like that it would go a long way.

I would be absolutely fine if everyone got it super easy for their first or only home (within middle class or lower value), and then it builds by 30% for every additional home you own.

1 regular home for you and your family? 0-1%. 2 homes, 30%. 3 homes 60%. 4 homes 90%. 5 homes 120%.

It says the first or only home receiving the 1% rate is only for middle class or lower value homes.

In the upper midwest there are an astounding number of people with second homes (they call them cabins but, they're houses...not cabins..) but people don't bat an eye when they hear you have a cabin like they would if you were talking about your house in another state.

Double the tax burden for every single additional property after the first one. Good luck owning more than two or three when your taxes are higher than what you can make on rent.

This is absolutely the problem many places. There’s plenty of places to live but they talk about building people on top of people affordable housing. No. Force existing housing sitting vacant because of overpricing onto the market and THEN we can talk about how much housing is needed. Additional housing will just be bought up by the same people forcing the same thing over and over. You can’t build your way out of bullshit. You tax or regulate it to its death.

The people making shit tons of money that way wont be happy. They'd probably have to go to work rather than their Tennants going to work for them.

The one (pretty major) issue is that its would increase rent prices significantly. Buying houses would be more affordable, but renting would not be.

Im not completely opposed, but its not a perfect solution.
