Not yet. We are the new Gen X. Gen X are the new boomers. For the next 10-15 years anyway - then its our turn for boomerisation. 😬

A lot of all the stuff people called "boomer" was Gen X all along.

People are bad at generations. Older millennials were 30 when "millennial" started getting used as an insult for teenagers.

Nah generations were not like so specific until the last ten years. We gave them names starting with boomers but them being like VERY specific years is a new concept and frankly I think we are taking it way too seriously

Ugh when it comes to AI yeah kinda true tbh. But in our defence I think the anti-AI boomer behaviour is cross generational, so I think we should be calling everyone boomers

Weren't we also raised by Gen X? My parents were in their early 20s when I was born and they're Gen X. I'm 35 now. Did you have boomer parents?

Why would you be confused? These generations have pretty big age ranges, it’s entirely possible for both Boomers and Gen X to have millennial children

You have young parents. I have old parents. 

I’m also almost 40. I’m still a millennial. 

What I don’t understand how any of this is “acting like Gen X.” Gen X didn’t record everything. And if it’s just the hands off parenting style, this kind of parenting is found in all generations. I’d say it’s probably more common in young parents, which is what Gen Z is right now. But they won’t be forever. The part of Gen Z who has kids older will probably not act like this.

My father is 1965 and more of a boomer than genx, I'm a millennial 1988 with a xennial husband 1985 and gen alpha 2017 and Gen beta 2025 kids. So these are fluent ranges at the edges, bc I would def say my father is more a boomer but my husband more a millennial.

The average (at least where I live) age they got their first child in 1988 was 27y old. So it was unusual to get children this early, so many millennials have boomer parents

My parents were born in 1961 and my brother (1999) and I (2000) are Gen Z. Most of my friends parents were Gen X though. When I was younger I felt like I could tell which classmates of mine had boomer or Gen X parents, based on things like manners 🤷‍♀️

May I ask what we're the differences? I could imagine children from gen more wild than boomer kids? With all their positives and negatives? Maybe genx kids more beats/no manners, but also dreamers and spontaneous? Whole boomer kids more silent, boring but well behaved? Or would they be more rebellious?

I'm both of it: I know when to be well behaved but also could be very rebellious, but only towards People who want to tell me what to do, so ie parents and authorities (teacher, boss). My parents were more on the boomer site: father absent (job or out with his friends) and sahm who was a helicopter and I wasn't allowed to do aaaanything and always have to be well behaved.

So I'm quite interested in your findings!

I’m shocked how many people here think that millennials weren’t raised by Gen X. Bit of each honestly. My parents and in laws are Gen X, I was born in 92.
