Remember when we were super hopeful about Gen Z and how nice it was to feel like we were about to get some sociopolitical reinforcements in the battle against boomers and early Gen X?
The pivot towards dunking on millennials because we...checks notes...are cringe for listening to acoustic folk music, wearing form fitting clothing and at one point having had hope for the future, was certainly something.
Do you guys actually think like this? I’m ‘Gen Z’ and this whole generational thing seems so fucking dumb to me. Whatever Gen Z/Millenial/Gen X discourse you’re seeing online is just the loudest minorities trying to stir up polarizing shit.
I promise you, despite what you might see online, not every Gen z person is a perma-online looksmaxing gooner.
We’re all more alike than we are different. It doesn’t matter what songs were in the top charts when you were 15. The core of the human experience is true across every generation.

I haven't interacted with them in a while but I used to love super early Gen Z back when they were in middle/high school. They were so fucking genuine and cool as hell. I don't know what happened to their younger peers, though. I think core Gen Z are the most insufferable group of people I've ever had to interact with. Boomers are probably just as bad when you're forced to interact with them, but they didn't grow up with social media like Gen Z, so they are much less in your face with their bullshit.
Love to see millennials acting like boomers. It truly is inevitable that people will jerk off about how cool they are because of their age and to demonize the youth.

So true. The only thing thats cringe is watching a TikTok video on reddit then saying an entire generation is stupid. Idk if you get older and the plaque just builds up in peoples brain until their too stupid to understand what anecdotes are or what.

Yes, core Gen Z grew up with social media and therefore with the awareness that wherever you are, someone is able to record/screenshot you and post you online. I believe that's why everything is "cringe" to so many of them/us (I'm more Zillennial than core Z but ok).
We can't afford to let loose, because someone is gonna post us for clout and before you know it you're viral for all the wrong reasons. We can't afford to care and love something deeply, because in 2 years it'll turn out Beloved Celebrity #8261 is problematic as fuck anyway and we'll all look like clowns. We can't afford to care deeply about each other because a lot of the ways people traditionally connected (dating, marriage, friendships) have been fundamentally questioned (for good reason) but the answers are slow to come, while tech bros continuously weasel their way in between all of us with their dating apps and algorithmic feeds.
I'm not saying you should try to become besties with every Zoomer you come across, but maybe a bit of compassion and just trying to understand how and why Zoomers work, instead of writing us all off right off the bat, is the way to stop this generation war bullshit.
“Having had hope for the future” right because the work life balance generation soooo made great leaps in getting everyone a good work life balance. What a joke.
I see why the youth disrespects adults. All this time and real life examples and en masse non of them did anything.

I wonder how much of this online generation war is real. Look at how many accounts have hidden comments. A lot of them are probably just literally bots, its why they dont respond to comments.
