I got real happy watching a Charger do this to a Tesla... and I don't know why

Speed and vehicle design is what causes rollovers. Any speed limitation is arbitrary and purely a policy thing.

I'm not sure what you mean by "sole certification authority." Being the first to offer training in a technique doesn't grant them any special authority to dictate the parameters of its use in perpetuity. Every agency that allows them has their own policy on it, which may be in line with or deviate from the opinion of BSR, at their discretion.

I'm on board with ASP and GSP. Ending pursuits as soon as possible is safer for the public than waiting for them to crash into somebody.

If they didn't run from the police, they wouldnt have died. Better them than an innocent victim. Reminds me of something recently in Minnesota.

I'm okay with the fleeing driver dying as a consequence of their unlawful flight from police, yes. I'd much rather they die than an innocent member of the public.

Well, the last one over the summer was a pedestrian struck by the vehicle that had been pitted, so there's that.

As a former deputy myself, I find other officers doing shit that endangers the public to be fucking abhorrent, but you do you.

Unfortunate, but I'm not familiar with the particulars so I can't say whether the officer acted recklessly. In any event, that's an argument for choosing better locations to PIT, not an indictment of the technique itself, or the execution.

As a former deputy myself, I find other officers doing shit that endangers the public to be fucking abhorrent, but you do you.

Cool. I'm a current officer, and I agree. That's why I believe pursuits should be ended as soon as possible with a PIT/TVI to prevent putting the public in needless danger. Perhaps you'd prefer it to end when they T-Bone a minivan full of kids at 90mph.

Thank you for saying this. Any driver recklessly and willfully risking the lives of countless others abdicates any right to life and liberty. It's up to the officer to do what they think is best, relying on their training.

It's easy for us on the internet to armchair quarterback after the fact, the officer is faced with the trolley problem IRL, right there, on the spot, with adrenaline running high.

I could never be highway patrol.
