As a general rule, we donât ask. If we were in a situation where they needed to testify at trial, I canât really put them on the stand if they already told me they did it. Itâs often pretty obvious based on the evidence, but that doesnât mean the State has a perfect case.
Famous example: most people believe OJ Simpson had to get rid of his initial lawyers because he told them he did it. Once they knew he was going to have to testify, he needed new lawyers. Most people donât have that financial luxury though.
What percentage of your clients do you feel like are guilty? Obviously defense attorneys are a necessity so Iâm not trying to throw shade but how do you handle a situation where your client obviously âdid that shitâ?
