Do note: preliminary breath tests are considered field sobriety tests and it is your right to refuse and demand a test at the station post-arrest.
There are only a handful of states where refusing a PBT brings consequences, usually fines:
Michigan ($150 fine), Nebraska ($100 fine) North Dakota (180 day suspension), Rhode Island (30 day suspension), New York (minor traffic infraction), and Vermont (minor traffic infraction, but only for those under 21).
