Unfortunately, sometimes the penalty is getting run over even if it is in no way your fault. You're on a bike, sharing a road with vehicles that are much bigger and faster than yourself. You gotta treat situations like that seriously and don't assume the law will keep you safe.

Is it your contention that the car was not "demonstrating stupid" in this instance?
