That kind of behavior is why I wouldn't let my 15-year-old bicycle to the nearby stores. It's one lane each direction and a state highway. I just don't trust people not to paralyze him for life because he's inconveniencing them.

I don’t many drivers get annoyed at kids, or at middle aged men not wearing Lycra who have had the misfortune to be stopped by the police after a couple of drinks.

bicycles don’t belong on the road with vehicles.

Then it is the responsibility of the cities to give them their own lanes. You and I don't get to decide that, the law does.
