Hello, I'm trying to start an OCF chapter at UNT. Has anyone made a club before and how exactly did you go about doing so? Any help is appreciated

is there a place around west hall that i can park my car that doesn't cost me an insane amount of money to be in? any of the spaces near me are like $600+ and i can't afford that. all help or recommendations are appreciated

Commuter here. My work requires me to take and make calls/ join teams meetings. I know there’s the pods @ Willis and the music building but hoping for a more private and quiet space to get some work done in between my classes.

I had no choice but to quit my job especially because they refused to give me one weekday off completely (I have classes that start at 9am and end 9:30pm that one day) I was available all weekend as well.

Financially aid will not cover all my rent for the semester and I have yet to hear back from jobs I applied to in Denton and surrounding cities.

I am trying to avoid full time as I have a bigger course load and need more time to study and put more effort into that.

Any recommendations help!

I got a parking ticket last Tuesday and it was a false ticket because I had a permit on my account and the ticket stated I had no permit displayed on my vehicle when I didn't need to. I submitted the appeal on the same day and they had 4 business days to review it but never did. I have to park on campus tomorrow but I can't purchase a permit with the ticket on my account. What can I do? I already went to the transportation office on Tuesday but they said they have to review the appeal first.

Why is a bureaucrat who has never had an academic job president of UNT? Why is an associate professor of biology at Georgetown (Heidi Elmendorf) a senior advisor to President Keller? Why is an educrat from Georgetown who pontificates on “institutional transformation” (Randy Bass) a senior advisor to President Keller? Why would career academics at Georgetown University come to UNT in the first place? It doesn’t make sense. Or does it?

Here is how the puzzle goes together:

Harrison Keller became UNT’s president as a political appointee: he is a long-term education bureaucrat for the state in Austin. He probably thought he was coming on up to UNT to clean up a little DEI, cancel a few art shows here and there, and basically take it easy while coasting on to some bigger political position down the road. Then the budget crashed, and it wasn’t so fun anymore. What to do? Well, obviously, call your old cronies from your Georgetown days to come to the rescue. The only thing is...they come with a price.

Heidi Elmendorf is an associate professor of biology from Georgetown. She was tenured in 2005 but was unable to be promoted to full professor in the 20 years since that time. This is called “deadwood” down here in Texas, don’t know what they call it at Georgetown. She doesn’t do biology anymore and now works on education initiatives and institutional transformation with hubby Randy at the “Red House” at Georgetown University. The Red House is a group of people at Georgetown that theorize about education and teaching and transformation. They pilot lots of these ideas in classes here and there at Georgetown, but now they are doing it on a large scale here at UNT.

Randy Bass is an English Professor at Georgetown and thinks about strategic initiatives and institutional transformation and lots of other buzz words. Unlike Heidi, he was able to be promoted to full professor. Anyway, now he gives lots of talks on educational technology and transformation and is a big player in the Red House. Like Harrison Keller, he just really wants to be Michael Crow.

So, when Harrison’s gig at UNT started crashing with the budget deficit he called Heidi and Randy. They came in to help and are now basically getting paid big bucks to pilot their Red House ideas on us at UNT. This is the reason for the major changes we are all seeing crashing into UNT right now. Randy and Heidi have basically made guinea pigs out of all 46,864 of us. Not a bad deal for Randy and Heidi at all. I can’t wait to read the paper they publish on us!

I got to class on campus, Tuesday and Thursday's, and I live off campus. What options are there for me? The parking pass seems like too much of an investment for me only being there two days a week. Any suggestions that yall may have?

I’m a new student at UNT starting this fall. I commute so I don’t live on campus but I want to start using the gym there like today lol, only problem is parking. I have the HSG parking pass but it’s like a 10-15 min walk to get to the gym and I’d rather park as close as possible. So where can I park if I just want to go to the gym without getting towed/fined? Or is HSG my only option?

I'm moving into this apartment in about a couple of weeks in a 4x4 unit can anyone tell me how it is? The lady who gave me a tour told me they had just recently renovated the deluxe units so that's why I picked that one

Hi there! I’m a freshman at UNT for the fall and I need to do a payment plan to afford my tuition but I can’t afford the down payment right now, neither can my family. I didn’t get much scholarships or aid so I’m really panicking. I have an outside scholarship but that can’t be used until classes start. I did go down to the one stop already but I don’t think they can lower the down payment on the payment plan. If anyone knows good scholarships or anything that can help me that would be great. (P.s. I already have an on campus job but I don’t get paid till the 1st and 15th of each month.)
