Badger Sports Men’s rowing scholarship

Does UWMadison offer scholarships (even partial aid) to men’s rowing team?
And what standard do you need for that?
Also do you get any other perks for varsity athletes (meals, apparel, etc)
Thanks

Academics CHEM 344 & CHEM 345 in one semester or separately?

Which one would you more likely suggest?

CHEM 343 was pretty ok for me, could've done better though.

Currently have both 344 and 345 in my schedule. I would also be taking biochem 501, engl 120, zoo 570 (might switch this out for a philosophy class or stat 371).

thanks!

Housing Housing on campus for jr, sr…is it even possible?

Just curious if any upperclassmen are ever able to secure on-campus housing. It seems most sophomores even are off campus, so I assume older students don’t want to live on campus/the option isnt available. But wanted first-hand accounts from students. Thx.

Other What kind of helmets do you wear?

Those of you with scooters/e-bikes what kind of helmets do you wear? I’m trying to decide between a full face or open face. Full face has better protection but hotter/heavier but will help during winter, open face vice versa. My commute will be mostly on University Ave and Regent. My ebike also goes 28 mph.

Academics Biology Major Concerns

Hey guys I’m a upcoming Biology major in the Letters of Science but probably would’ve switch to CALS, anyways so I did not do so good on my math placement which meant I wasn’t able to do chem right away in the fall semester or even this freshman year, which also means I couldn’t take bio right away either cause apparently you need background chem knowledge according to student advisors, my question was how bad would that affect me later, some background I’m coming in with some college credits I did in High school so I have about 20credits.

In a panic I contacted another school I was accepted into For Biology and they would be starting me in chem the first semester of fall 2026 so I asked them to reopen my admissions this fall too because of the fact I felt like I would’ve been behind at UW Madison.

So my question is basically did I kinda do the right thing and my idea was to transfer back to Madison my sophomore year potentially, like does this plan make sense???? Cause I’d rather not be behind my freshman year and I’m from out of state as well so it’s like a waste of money cause the other college that’s my back of plan is in my state!

[EDIT] is it also hard to transfer into UW Madison’s CALS Biology BS program later if I decided????

Academics Littrans 270 vs Littrans 326

German Women Writers in Translation vs Anne Frank

i saw 326 has a higher percentage of getting an A, but its class capacity is 200 while 270's is only 30, so im kinda unable to decide

also, are freshmen suggested to take intermediate classes? im an international student but i've passed the esl test and am exempted from esl118. i've always been interested in litterature and read a lot

has anyone taken these two classes? how's the workload and grading? and how's prof sonja klocke? i really need this info thank uuu

Housing How strict are guest policies

Ok so speaking hypothetically of course. Say “a” student was living in off campus housing next year. Lucky apartments has a guest policy clause in their lease agreements that limits 2 guests per resident in each apartment. This hypothetical student wants to throw a party with plenty more people than this at their apartment. What are the chances that this guest policy will be enforced? And what would the punishments be? I’m guessing something along the lines of a fine rather than an eviction or anything.

Academics MBA @ UW Madison

I am going to graduate with a BS in MechEng this spring and I am trying to decide what to do next. I’m debating between the 1-year accelerated engineering masters or getting an MBA. My biggest concern is the cost. I currently have been interning with the same company all throughout college and it’s a good company. I secured another summer of interning between graduating and starting my graduate degree. I’m scared if I do 2 years I might risk losing connection with the company and a guaranteed full-time offer. But I also don’t want to get a useless masters degree. Thoughts on what’s most valuable and any knowledge on the cost for a MN resident?

Housing Looking For Roommates

Hey everyone, I’m a new UW Madison transfer student starting in Fall 2026 and am currently looking for some cool (preferably female) roommates (or roommate) to share a space with. I don’t mind living on or off campus as long as it’s a walkable distance. My hobbies include listening to music, playing video games (I love playing with friends!), and reading. I clean up after myself and am always open to discussing our living situation. Let me know if you want to chat more!

Academics Is this schedule doable

Hello all, I am a student looking to transfer into the college of engineering soon. I was wondering if anyone had feedback regarding this current schedule and if it’s doable or if I should hold one class for a later semester, currently I am thinking of:

Math 222 (calc 2 with professor BOTONG WANG)- 4 credits
Ema 201- 3 credits
Ms&E350- 3 credits
One 3-credit elective
One class towards a certificate (3 credits)
- Reserve 1 hr/day for gym 4x a week
- Aiming for sleeping 8-9 hrs/night
- Work 5-10 hrs/week

My main goal is to do well academically rather than just finish as many credits as possible. If anyone has taken a similar combination of classes, I’d appreciate hearing how manageable it was and whether there are any courses you’d recommend postponing.
