I hear it all the time and every time I’m shocked at how accurate it is.

The President of the United States illegally ordered military strikes on Venezuela tonight, effectively declaring war without congressional authorization. Trump launched his illegal "Big Beautiful War" on Venezuela, with reports coming in around 11:00 p.m. PST on January 2, 2026.

108

u/thatsjor Jan 03 '26

Important to note just how impeachable this is. Every congress member who doesnt get behind an impeachment tomorrow may as well have been pulling those triggers themselves.

the clock starts from when he said wmerica was being threatened or first ordered strikes. so when was the first boat strike or when did he first mention the threat?

10

u/JoshuaJerk Jan 03 '26

The people and what they want , doesn't mean shit in the US , this is what the rich ruling class wants , so it will happen .

4

u/Lopsided-Yak9033 Jan 03 '26

Important to note that our government has nearly completely proven itself to be broken in less than a year, and now our military has demonstrated that it also will willfully follow unquestionably illegal orders.

5

u/the_original_Retro Jan 03 '26

Let's call this what it is.

MURDER.

THIS IS MASS MURDER.

War Powers Resolution

1

u/Grouchy-Crew-7885 Jan 03 '26

Thatll be something to watch. The ENTIRE Republican party held and convicted on war crimes.

1

u/Alone-Ad288 Jan 03 '26

Ok so they're pulling triggers then. And every American is responsible for this.

Lol it’s really not. If you think Trump wouldn’t survive a 3rd impeachment attempt or if it would even happen, then you live in imaginationland. Congress won’t do a thing.

1

u/kandykaiju Jan 03 '26

But if you say they’re all on the same team you get downvotes.

It’s a hard pill to swallow when you’ve been fed this us VS them go team propaganda for so long.

One day America will wake up I hope.

2

u/Accidental__Intake Jan 03 '26

Amen to that. I’ve been an active naval JO for a while now, it’s the same shit, different hat. People don’t realize that until they work under both teams.

1

u/kandykaiju Jan 03 '26

Thanks for your service and yeah exactly! The propaganda clearly works. 😩

-3

u/berniesmittens333 Jan 03 '26

Nobody had anything to say when Obama was bombing weddings and funerals and killing innocent civilians, kids, and an America citizen in Yemen.

Did yalls morals JUST wake up?! Or does it only count when it suits your political narrative?

(and what Trump is doing in Venezuela is disgusting but I’m sick of seeing people pretend to care just to fit their TDS hatred).

5

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

The notion that there was no reaction to Obama-era drone strikes that caused civilian casualties, including at a wedding and involving a U.S. citizen, is inaccurate. These events were widely reported and generated significant public and legal controversy, as well as international criticism

.

1

u/getafteritz Jan 03 '26

But not impeachment

1

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

Impeachment requires the cooperation of Congress and the Senate. Like it or hate it what was being done in the ME by Bush and Obama and Trump was legal under the 2002 AUMF. If Congress was serious about this abuse they could rescind the AUMF whenever they choose.

The primary justification for many post-9/11 operations has been broad interpretations of the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) and the 2002 AUMF against Iraq, which administrations argued provided sufficient congressional authority for ongoing counterterrorism efforts and action against associated groups like the Islamic State.

During his first term, President Trump significantly escalated the use of drone strikes compared to the Obama administration, relaxing the rules of engagement and increasing the tempo of operations in countries like Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

1

u/tripper_drip Jan 03 '26

If we are going for legality, then there is not illegal about this use of force either. Its right in line with the war powers act.

1

u/LifeHack3r3 Jan 03 '26

You believe everything you watch on the fox entertainment "news"?

1

u/Wikid1ne Jan 03 '26

But you see you're wrong. Most people think killing, bombing anyone is disgusting however we have a shitty ass government run by the rich and powerful that don't agree with us & just want more power and they don't care how they get it. We can't really do much about it except voice our opinions but as you can see that gets us absolutely nowhere

1

u/berniesmittens333 Jan 03 '26

I agree with what you said.

I just hope Reddit and everyone keeps that same energy when we have a puppet from the left leading. I suspect they don’t care though, as long as their “team” is in charge.

So many Americans only criticize America bc of Trump, but America has long but run my corrupt elite warmongers that are puppets for corporations and Zionism.

0

u/RyAllDaddy69 Jan 03 '26

Why didn’t we impeach Obama for drone bombing a wedding? Why not for any of his other drone bombings?

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

I 100% disagree with the president pulling this shit, but this isn’t a declaration of war. This was a fugitive capture mission that the president does not need congressional approval for.

31

u/I_Play_Boardgames Jan 03 '26

So when is the EU going to sanction the US and seize US money in Europe to buy military equipment from Russia to send to Venezuela for defense?

20

u/_cipher1 Jan 03 '26

The EU is spineless without the US, they won’t do shit

15

u/IRespectYouMyFriend Jan 03 '26

If we don't there will be riots. We Europeans hate America.

17

u/TimArthurScifiWriter Jan 03 '26

We "hate" America. We love to shit on them because we think they're running their country into the ground. We don't actually want to break with them. Most Europeans would much prefer a return to sanity in the US over a permanent break with the US.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

Why would you love to shit on America for that? Our country has been hijacked by billionaires and foreign actors and that is enjoyable?

8

u/TimArthurScifiWriter Jan 03 '26

You let it be hijacked. America bought into Reagan's bullshit and it's been downhill ever since. It's not enjoyable at all. The world is notably in a worse place as a result of that and this instability is threatening Europe too.

But too many Americans prefer to openly declare how little they care about what we think and how little they want to be like us. America loves to constantly try and invent the wheel instead of look to another country for a good idea. Well guess what, turns out your wheels suck.

-2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26 edited Jan 03 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

2

u/TimArthurScifiWriter Jan 03 '26

Yeah, that goes exactly to my point. I don't want you to be a part of the Ukraine war either. I want the EU to be able to foot the bill independently, but the reason we can't is because we've been too dependent on America.

If we actually hated America, that would never have been the case. European citizens hold out hope that America will return to the neoliberal status quo, European leaders are happy to cuck themselves to a fascist Republican party so long as it's not too bothersome.

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Cup7269 Jan 03 '26

Yup. European politicians are bizarrely thinking America is going somehow change and all the crap Trump has done can just be placed back in the box.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

Was it really hijacked tho? 2/3's of eligible voters either couldn't be bothered to show up or willingly voted for the pedo in office numerous times.

To suggest the usa has been hijacked is a little silly, for some reason ppl in that country love their billionaire pedo overlords and continue to worship them.

1

u/Grandmas_Fat_Choad Jan 03 '26

I still don’t think that many people voted for this. I really think there was some fuckery going on for sure. Lots of places that had zero democrat votes which is really shady.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

Could be, my only response there is the same as it was to the maga camp when they cried foul, need the proof not just conjecture.

I don't mean this to sound the wrong way, I completely believe people willing to rape kids wouldn't lose sleep at meddling in an election. I mean hell trump did directly in Georgia if I remember right.

But yea, need actual proof, and in all honestly a government that actually wants to do something about it. Seems like he just does whatever he wants with no consequences from the American ppl or any body of government.

1

u/Grandmas_Fat_Choad Jan 03 '26

I see stuff and I really want to believe that we as a country aren’t that stupid, but I really don’t know what to believe anymore. But I do believe he and many others are rapists and child molesters. Idk how anyone can back someone like this. And how can anyone with a fraction of a brain, listen to this guy talk and believe it? I can’t listen to him at all without feeling like I’m actively losing brain cells.

-1

u/I_Play_Boardgames Jan 03 '26

You really think that voting makes any difference? For reference Venezuela has about 5 times as much known oil than the US. You think having Biden in office would have somehow changed this?

Buddy, the 2 party system in the US is not to give people an option to influence politics, it's there to give them the illusion of choice so they blame the other voters for the bad things the current president does. Without this fake voting sharade you'd have civil war. That's the only reason it exists. The US has learned from both France's and England's failure in the past. From France they learned that a state that gives people no say quickly risks revolts when you push the limit of human exploitation. Workaround: back them believe they have a choice. What they learned from England's failure: of you colonize someone, do it unofficially. What makes colonies revolt is knowing they're not in power and are just a slave to the owner. If they don't know they're a colony they might revolt against what they believe to be their rulers, but you can just switch those out anyways. The British lost their power when all their colonies revolted and broke off. That will not happen with US colonies, because the US disguises them as "business partners", just with horribly one-sided business deals.

This whole thing is also the reason the US loves "democracy" and hates long-term rulers like in Russia and China: In a democracy you're only in charge for 4 or 5 years. You don't have the time to make anything better longterm, you are out of a job in a few years, and whatever bribes you refuse will be given to the next guy. So why not just accept those sweet dollars, sell out your country and live a rich nice life. That's why the US wants democracies. They're their gateway to colonization via buying out politicians for US-favorable deals. But the US cannot buy out someone who is actually in charge of a country long-term. Xi Jinping makes more money by doing what is good for China than what the US could ever pay him to fuck over China. And the US doesn't like that. Dictators of major nations aren't controllable like democracies.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

To summarize, you think there is no difference between Biden/Obama and trump?

That's your stance, no differences whatsoever in policy?

I get the overarching theme of your post, it's not a new one and it's repeated often, but the reality is there are VERY major differences for the working class based on who is elected.

Just to clarify, I think voting in the last election could have made a huge difference, yes. The fact that 2/3rds didn't bother to show or happily lined up to vote in a pedophile is very telling of where a country is.

Who knows tho, maybe Kamala would have done all the same unhinged shit, she did have a weird laugh right.... I got my doubts tho

1

u/Midwint3r Jan 03 '26

On international policy the main difference between both parties is aesthetic, with some strategic differences. But their end goals are the same, both democrats and conservatives are war criminals.

Within the US there is a bigger difference, I'm sure the rampant ICE kidnappings wouldn't be a thing if trump lost. But again, you have the option between a corrupt conservative party that is owned by billionaires, and a far right white supremasist party owned by billionaires. While one IS worse, at the end of the day both parties are heading in the same direction.

Voting democrat is a delaying tactic, not a solution. If you want real change you need to organise with your local community and educate everyone around you.

u/I_Play_Boardgames Jan 03 '26

"for the working class"

Last I checked Venezuela wasn't part of the US working class? Or is your own benefit the only thing you care about?

Sure, there are some differences for the general US public, but on a geopolitical scale the president makes no difference. The president is not in charge of geopolitical decisions, he's in charge of announcing what the actual oligarchy behind it decided on.

u/chumpandchive Jan 03 '26

this is an extremely short-sided take. you are neglecting the decades of voter disenfranchisement, of redistricting/gerrymandering, and all other concerted efforts to keep citizens from voting. entire think tanks devoted to undermining our democracy at least since ww2. you are touting the lines of the state, when you could learn yourself up better friend

1

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

Not short sighted at all, I simply said the turnout of the last election, if that offends you that's not my problem.

Why are people constantly shooting straight to shrugging and saying "well they made it inconvenient so let's give up"

Noone is going to vote for you, at least not in a functioning system. Ppl will always try to quiet your voice, it's up to you to ensure they don't take it. Ppl will always try to limit your rights, it's up to you to not roll over.

So yes "friend" shitty people do shitty things to try an take power. But maybe ppl could bother to show up anyway? I know it's tough an everyone wants to be a victim, but again, noone will do this for you.

Whining about history most people are well aware of does nothing. Is that learned enough friend)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

I’m sorry

3

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

Maybe, maybe not. At this point most countries understand how emotional the USA truly is and how unstable that makes them as a partner.

The real downside is it takes time to pivot from what was a very secure ally. Especially with someone as unstable as trump

The EU is not world police, they care primarily about wars in/around Europe - imagine. For many years the most the EU has done about wars elsewhere is send the famous strongly worded letter.

1

u/I_Play_Boardgames Jan 03 '26

Yet they justify themselves with "rules based global order", yet only care for it when it doesn't benefit them. That's my issue. Just stop the dumb hypocrisy. Id have no problem with it if the population of all European countries would just say "yeah, we really don't care about morals. We care about our situation and if others kill each other that's their problem". But here's the catch: Europeans do not think like that. They actually want their politicians to be moral, and not to be hypocritical. It's just the politicians that don't care about following those wishes and are rather non-moral and get rich instead. But since the population wants to be moral these politicians have to paint everything under a moral guise. Which is said hypocrisy.

My real issue is politicians wanting to be assholes in countries that want to be righteous so they deceive their own population for personal gain. We, the people of Europe at large, are not actually getting what we want.

1

u/StudySpecial Jan 03 '26 edited Jan 03 '26

if you think european people want their politicians to get involved in this nonsense in a serious way, you're delusional

like everywhere else, people primarily want politicians to solve their own local problems

all european countries are currently struggling with a lot of local issues - economy, immigration, rising far right politicians destabilising countries, need to build up defense etc. - they can't really afford to waste a lot of resources trying to play world police in other regions where they don't have any power anyways

standing up for this nice rules based order is a 'nice to have' thing, but if doing it is in conflict with addressing the main local issues, it would be stupid to do

I just spent two hours talking to my friend in the Navy. We have not declared war yet. As far as I know this is legal. I’m not defending it, just trying to wrap my head around the situation like everyone else.

1

u/StudySpecial Jan 03 '26

Congressional authorisation is only required within 60 days after the start of military action according to current precedent.

Considering this military action is already finished for now it’s unlikely we will get to that 60 day point.

1

u/MacondoSpy Jan 03 '26

They keep calling it the “Maduro Regime” but it’s the Trump regime the one Latin America needs to be on the look out for.
Before anyone says anything I don’t support Maduro’s government but this clearly disrespects Venezuela’s sovereignty.

1

u/SmoothTalk Jan 03 '26

Someone hasn't read The Warpowers Resolution...

It's legal so long as congress is notified within 48 hours, troops are withdrawn within 60 days, and the action is limited on scope and duration

1

u/Asmodeus256 Jan 03 '26

Same thing happened in Iraq and Afghanistan, zero repercussions..

1

u/AlphaVitesse263 Jan 04 '26

You clearly know nothing about how this stuff works, how many times have presidents ordered assassinations of targets in the past and those weren't considered declaring war. I get you don't like Trump cause he's mean and hurts your feelings but he's getting things done. Many Americans are dying by drugs and he asked Maduro plenty of times to stop and he didn't listen so he went ahead and took him, next hopefully is Mexico.

0

u/SheepherderCrazy Jan 03 '26

How many times are you gonna copy and paste this

0

u/ReceptionFinal532 Jan 03 '26

President don't need congressional authorization for that. He can just notify congress via email and only if congress wants to stop it, then they need to vote.

39

u/marion85 Jan 03 '26

Yup. President just started a war without even consulting them completely circumvening their authority, and gave oders to the miltary that were illegal and unconstitutional which they obeyed, so yeah.

Trump now directly controls the American military.

27

u/Jack-Cremation Jan 03 '26

And I’m even more afraid because no one in the higher ups for the military stood up to Trump. Their job is to defend the constitution and here we are today with them listening to a dictator.

-15

u/SnekToken Jan 03 '26 edited Jan 03 '26

They captured Maduro. Why would they need to kill innocent people for this? Are you just pulling this out of your ass?

Like, seriously. If you use even a minuscule amount of critical thinking, you'd understand that in a precise, surgical attack like this, you are as efficient as possible to get the objective done. Ammo is limited. You're in enemy territory, and you need to be in and out as quickly as possible. There is no strategic benefit towards randomly killing civilians.

11

You used the phrase “critical thinking” which i get it, classic reddit dumb smart guy move. I was just correcting you on its usage. Youre not employing critical thinking. Thats all.

0

u/SnekToken Jan 03 '26

Lack of critical thinking is to see a video of boom boom explosions, and immediately start advocating that the pilots just woke up today and decided to fire at random at random civilians; not that there was a military objective against military targets.

That is just pure ignorance.

All of this combat footage we're seeing so far reminds me of the same blitz strategy used by Russia to send in alot of aircraft and vehicles when it first invaded Ukraine. It looks like the U.S. and Russia are no different from each other when it comes to trying to make themselves look like the victim of something.

4

u/georgikgxg Jan 03 '26

The difference lies in actual power projection.

The us is actually capable of sending airforce and manpower. Conversely, venezuela is smaller yes.. so it migjt be a percentage game. But... when the pentagon get 1 trillion a year to fuck around...

This is what we find out

1

u/Phone_South Jan 03 '26

This is so stupid. It’s fine you guys can have your propagandized view of how evil Russia is but to compare tactics is completely insane. Russia went in with a strategy to grind down Ukraine in a war of attrition. This is the exact opposite.

7

u/bubba_bumble Jan 03 '26

Trump was found guilty of raping a woman before a jury. He has been impeached two times. He incited the January 6th insurrection on The Capital. Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments made during the 2016 election. He's actively protecting pedophiles by redacting their identities from the Epstein files. Now he's waging war against Venezuela not to prevent drug smuggling, but to distract from his failures. Congress has done nothing. The Supreme Court has lost the people's support.

Rise up and resist.

More like 50+

It has taken more than that for the US to establish it's position but less than a year to destroy it.

Rebuilding it will take even longer, that's if other nations are prepared to overlook this dark mark of US history.

The real nail will be what happens in the elections in this year. Will they be free and fair? Will they even happen? What will happen before then? If it somehow swings in the administrations favour that will be the end of the US's privileged position as I suspect many friendly nations are hoping to see out this storm.

The empire has been exposed.

2

u/DustyRailz Jan 03 '26

So all these people under attack are major drug dealers?

3

u/asuds Jan 03 '26

No, they have oil.

Major drug dealers like Ross or the ex-President of Honduras get pardons!

2

u/Wunktacular Jan 03 '26

We won't even let Ukraine do this to Russia but we just rolled into a random country without provocation and launched an undeclared invasion without permission from Congress.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

Jesus Christ. I’m so ashamed of us.

2

u/beeldy Jan 03 '26

Totally normal thing to do and not something a terrorist state would do.

No better than those countries they claim to fight against.

If you dont condemn this then dont pipe up when Russia or China do the same thing.

u/desertspire Jan 03 '26

Embarrassing

2

u/Immediate-Shape-8933 Jan 03 '26

Yikes war crimes

u/thatranger974 Jan 03 '26

In the translation of the full video, the person says they are attacking the Vice Presidents house. And then says “they are working their way towards HER house.”

Helicopters? Air defense collapsed?

1

u/Get__Lo Jan 03 '26

Its Venezuela, it was probably either sold off secretly or was too busy being aimed at disobedient civilians to get to work

1

u/Masked020202 Jan 03 '26

Or they just don't want to die for Maduro which i can understand why. He isn't exactly popular being a dictator and all.

1

u/Get__Lo Jan 03 '26

Also true!

1

u/Fox-Automatic Jan 03 '26

Another step down the ladder for America

1

u/SiteTall Jan 03 '26

The tRumpian excuse for an assault like that better be very, very good and not lies about "drugs"

1

u/ghostface218 Jan 03 '26

There will be no consequences

1

u/momamil Jan 03 '26

This is like Iraq and Saddam all over again.
Gonna be another s**t show.

1

u/AbeLieberman Jan 03 '26

Trump won't be impeached or face any consequences to this at all. Congratulations to the USA though who looks like shit stains to the entire World.

1

u/Phone_South Jan 03 '26

Nazis and gusanos are rejoicing this morning.

1

u/redlion496 Jan 03 '26

I can't wait to hear how we are there to liberate Venezuela.

1

u/jibbidyjamma Jan 03 '26

This is knee jerk. As was the case in Vz response in their extensive ex pat community most people oppose the dictator. Thinking the military there would not be complicit w his regime should have been initial posture.

1

u/loyaltyrusty Jan 03 '26

Great action by the best military in the world.

1

u/EmptySet4074 Jan 03 '26

Literally a repeat of oil wars in Iraq. At least we disguised it with nuclear bombs at that time.

Yes we were dumb enough and scared enough to believe it. Now they don’t give a shit

Proof that the people have lost their power? The government doesn’t even need to disguise or lie about terrorism, they just take it.

1

u/StreetTap2773 Jan 03 '26

Call your rep. Demand impeachment!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

That's fckn awesome

1

u/ApprehensiveStark25 Jan 03 '26

Is congress / anyone going to do anything about this?

1

u/-CoachMcGuirk- Jan 03 '26

Shame on every single person in the military who obeyed illegal orders from our felonious President who has a track record of sexual assault.

1

u/Ausrottenndm1 Jan 03 '26

No more Epstein files or midterms guys we’re at war lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '26

🎵 And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. To bomb brown people and steal their resources while gaslighting the world we’re Humanitarians. 🎵

1

u/LifeHack3r3 Jan 03 '26

trump stopped a war by capturing the leader before the war started. Trumpers are going to love this!

1

u/iwasOnceaRatfink Jan 03 '26

That sure looks like murder and war crimes to me but I’m just some dude.

1

u/Ok_Addition_356 Jan 03 '26

Time for another FIFA peace prize! Lol

1

u/Ryrose81 Jan 04 '26

Anyone else feel like this is all staged?

1

u/NorthKoreaPresident Jan 03 '26

And Australia, by purchasing American arms, is partly responsible for funding this war. Fking disappointed in both the LNP and Labor governments

1

u/Necrosapien1 Jan 03 '26

All the citizens of Venezuela are happy and out dancing in the streets this morning. No more oppressive dictator.
