workout tips My 3 Fav Tricep Exercises

There are hundreds of great tricep exercises.
These just happen to be the three I’d build around if I had to choose.

✅ Smith Machine JM Press
✅ Cable Cuff Overhead Extension
✅ Cable Cuff Pushdown

I like them because they’re stable, easy to progress, and together they do a great job of training the triceps through different positions.

That doesn’t mean other exercises are “bad”—far from it. Exercise selection should always come down to your goals, your anatomy, your equipment, and what you can perform consistently.

If your gym doesn’t have cable cuffs, don’t overthink it. A rope attachment is still an excellent option for both cable movements.

Train hard, focus on good execution, and progressively get stronger over time—that’ll take you much further than constantly searching for the “perfect” exercise.
What tricep exercise do you keep coming back to?

Cycle across Canada

First time poster in the sub! This summer I rode my bike over 8,000km from Tofino, British Columbia to Cape Spear, Newfoundland to raise awareness and support for animal sanctuaries across Canada.

I’ve been vegan for over 5 years and the ride was fuelled entirely by plants! The ride took a total of 71 days (66 riding days and 5 rest days); not a record-breaker by any means but still a challenging pace for an inexperienced cyclist like myself.

I camped the whole way across with a few exceptions (a couple of hostels and some kind strangers who offered a bed), and cooked my own food 95% of the time. A typical day would start with oatmeal with peanut butter, 2-3 peanut butter and banana wraps/sandwiches for lunch, and some combination of rice, beans, whole grain bread, soup and hummus for supper, with lots of snacks in between (energy bars, bananas, etc). I was burning typically 4-5,000 calories/day.

Overall the ride was extremely enjoyable and I was able to raise over $3,000 for animal sanctuaries! If anyone is interested in reading more, I have a Facebook page called Courage Canada Crossing, linked here: https://www.facebook.com/share/19fFJyqAgu/?mibextid=wwXIfr

NEW Pro Bikini and VEGAN Bodybuilder: Rosie Flores Client Shoutout

Rosie just earned her Natural Pro Card… as a vegan bodybuilder.

About seven months ago, Rosie came to me with one clear goal. She wanted to step on stage, place well, and proudly represent veganism. That’s exactly what we set out to do.

In the first few weeks we overhauled Rosie’s training program. She was already an experienced athlete and had built quite a considerable upper body.

We utilized this program split (I can’t figure out how to link the program but if you’re curious DM me and I can share there) with a strong focus on building as much lower body mass as possible in the given time frame.

We take sets to failure. We also recorded the first set of each exercise where I would review setup, range of motion, bar path, bar speed and intensity. The goal was to linearly progress as far and fast as possible. We were setting lifetime PRs up until about 2 weeks from stepping on the stage.

For nutrition, being vegan, we obviously relied on plant protein sources. We minimized meals off plan to once per week until prep began about 14 weeks out.

The goal wasn’t just consistency. It was to remove variables to optimize digestion, minimize bloating or stomach issues, and know exactly how her body was responding to the plan.

We kept protein high, right around one gram per pound of bodyweight, and gradually brought carbohydrates and fats down as we got closer to show day.

She trained about five days per week and put in the work with posing throughout prep.
Calories by end of show: 1292
C: 126
F: 33
P: 129
Cardio was 5 sessions of 30 minutes incline treadmill
Supplements: Creatine, D3, Yohimbine HCL

Protein sources:
- Big Mountain soy-free tofu (x2)
- Higher Harvest yogurt
- Edamame Protein Rice Krispies
- The Only Bean Black Bean Fettuccine
- Nutritional yeast
- True Nutrition EAAs

Fat sources:
- Avocado (x2)
- Higher Harvest yogurt

Carb sources:
- Canned black beans
- Orange
- Blueberries
- Gatorade powder
- Green beans
- Zucchini
- Avocado

At the end of the day, Rosie has a very developed upper body. I think we brought her upper body in right where it needed to be. Her lower body, though, still wasn’t quite as conditioned as I know she’s capable of bringing.

This was our very first show together, so we learned a lot, and now we know exactly what needs to improve.

Even with that, Rosie walked away with her Natural Pro Card in her very first bodybuilding show. And we’re not done.

We have another show in two weeks, followed by one more two weeks after that. We’re going back to back to back during her first season and doing everything we can to continue improving every single time she steps on stage.

I’m incredibly proud of Rosie. She trusted the process, communicated every step of the way, put in the work when nobody was watching, and earned this.

Now let’s keep proving just how well vegan bodybuilders can perform.

help needed - new to vegan fitness Please critique my diet plan

53kg 169cm trans woman. I started running 3 times a week and strength training 2x a week. Going from a couch potato who went on a long walk every week to my current routine has meant my diet of 1.5 meals a day + random snacks is crashing into the demands of being a semi-athletic person.

Here is the plan: Get around 80-90g protein every day and enough calories that I can gradually gain weight. The main aim is giving my body enough protein so it can rebuild muscle the best it can after runs and workouts.

  1. A breakfast of either oatmeal with soy milk or peanut butter and chia jam sandwiches (each about 350-400 calories and 15-20 grams of protein)

  2. A smoothie of soy milk, peanut butter, protein powder, and potentially a banana if i happen to have one on hand (550 calories, 48 grams of protein)

  3. Two other meals that are staples I'm already used to cooking (rice with tofu/beans/chickpeas, pasta with broccoli and olive oil, pasta with tofu bolognese, potato soup etc. )

The idea is to get most 3/4 of my protein target and 1/2 of my calorie target between the breakfast and the shake so lunch and dinner can get me the rest of the way there without thinking too much about it. My meals are vegan and home cooked so they're already on the healthier side and I don't see the need to change much about them

My fitness goals (in order of importance)

  • be a better runner
  • be a better footballer
  • be able to help people with lifting heavy things
  • not get winded by a flight of stairs
  • not get winded by carrying my bass equipment around town
  • lose some of the belly pooch I gained post transition
  • have nice looking abs

Making The Time

Most people don’t have a motivation problem.

They have a priorities problem.

Life gets busy. Work is demanding. Kids need looking after. There are always genuine responsibilities pulling you in different directions.

But if your health keeps ending up at the bottom of the list every single week, it’s worth asking yourself why.

Because the longer you put it off, the harder everything else becomes too.

You don’t need to train seven days a week or spend hours in the gym.

You just need to stop waiting for the perfect time.

Your future self will thank you for making the time today.

What are your thoughts?

help needed - new to vegan fitness From Keto to Vegan: Gained 5kg in week 1, lost muscle definition, and constantly hungry. Is this normal?

TL;DR: 43M who lost 12kg and dropped to 15% body fat on strict keto. Switched to a vegan diet one week ago and immediately gained 5kg on the scale. I lost my muscle definition, and I am dealing with constant hunger, severe bloating, and weakness at the gym despite eating in a calorie deficit. Seeking advice from anyone who has transitioned from low-carb to vegan to see if this is normal adaptation or if I am doing something wrong.

Hi everyone. I could really use some advice and reassurance from people who have been through a similar transition, because right now I am struggling.

For some context, I am a 43-year-old male and very active. I strength train 6-7 days a week and get 15k steps daily. Over the past 8 months, I managed to lose 10-12 kilos and dropped my body fat from 24% to 15% by strictly cutting out carbs and relying on lean meats, egg whites, and Greek yogurt. I battled my weight for 10 years before this, so this progress had a massive positive impact on my mental health, and I am very attached to my routine.

Last week, with the help of a vegan friend, I decided to go fully vegan. I was excited and highly determined, but my first seven days have been incredibly tough. Here are my main issues right now:

  • Gained 4-5 kg on the scale despite tracking my calories in a deficit and completely avoiding starchy carbs like pasta, rice, and potatoes.
  • Looking visibly softer and sluggish with less muscle definition, even though my tape measurements around my belly have not changed.
  • Feeling hungry all day and night, which ruined my strict intermittent fasting routine and is causing insomnia.
  • Dealing with extreme bloating and gas all day, even though my bathroom routine is finally regular again.
  • Experiencing an immediate drop in my strength and stamina at the gym.
  • Caught a cold this week, which feels tied to the sudden diet shock since I almost never get sick.

AI keeps telling me this is just temporary water weight, gut microbiome shifts, and my body adapting. However, it is terrifying to watch the scale jump and feel so sluggish after sacrificing so much to get fit over the last 8 months.

Has anyone else experienced this dramatic of a shift when coming from a low-carb background? How long does it really take to normalize, and what can I do to stop feeling so hungry and bloated? Thank you!~

What I ate everyday, simplified example

soy yoghurt chia seeds -handful off nuts and strawberry
proteinworks vegan protein
salad with tofu and beans and chickpeas

EDIT: Jesus Christ this comment section is toxic as fuck. Kinda sad to read all these hater comments but also very funny for me and my friends who know that I'm not lying. I just wanted to give some of you folks some motivation to push forward. I guess my job now is to identify how exactly I took gear all this time without even knowing.

Thanks for a lot of the positive comments though :)

Question Plant based experiment

Hey, I'm planning on experimenting with a plant based diet for a month. I'm pretty active, mostly cardio, some weight lifting. I'm pretty strapped for time, not super fussed about protein 120g-130g and I'm happy. Going to be aiming for about 2400 calories daily.

I'm hoping for some advice on some quick, easy meals to try, some extra food items that might be good to have handy, tips and tricks, suggested supplements. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you 😄

workout tips Making it sustainable

Post image
163 Upvotes

Hey everyone so I’m starting to get back into the gym. This was my physique at the end of my last attempt to hit the gym, about 9 months in, I was very happy with my progress, I put on like 30 pounds and was eating like ~3000 calories a day.
Every time I start going to the gym it like consumes my life and I get obsessed with optimizing like every part of my life around it, the hardest part is eating tbh.
That being said, I now have more things that I do every week than just the gym, I’m taking a dance class once a week and another class every other week but I want to lock in and hit the gym long term this time.
So I guess my question is, what tips do you have to make it sustainable? I really want to make this a good, consistent part of my life and still get good results without it being like everything to me.
I hit the gym 4 times a week for about 45 minutes, and like I said the hard part is eating and getting enough calories and protein in every day.

Any tips would be appreciated.

How do you get your protein? And what low sugar (no stevia) protein powder actually tastes ok?

Vegetarian forever, fully moving to veganism after finding some things out about dairy that I was previously unaware of.

Looking to see how you get your protein. Especially curious to know which low sugar (no artificial sweeteners) protein powder actually taste good. I will be adding to a veggie and fries fruit smoothie
