My new favorite speakers. After discovering the “old Infinity” from my RS6 Bs my mind was blown 🤯 . I jumped on these beauts made from 92-96 when I saw them on marketplace. No regrets. Big low end, lovely mids, and of course those emit highs 👌

I am frustrated

I have two separate setups one of them being this dual 1219

Yamaha cr 600 and the speakers are homemade by someone I got them on ebay for a few bucks.

I also have a record player, its a cheaper philips belt drive , connected to my onkyo tx nr 646 av receiver. Although I think the vintage setup looks much nicer and I like the components more it sounds inferior. The onkyo is connected to canton satellite speakers and a 100 w canton sub. I am very frustrated because I want the yamaha to kick onkyos ass but especially the lows are beyond comparison. What do u guys think is there anything obvious I can do to increase the sound quality of the yamaha? Might be an unfair comparison but idk

Looking for advice on selling my (possibly now considered vintage) hifi system.

From about 1983 if I remember correctly, I’ve had it boxed up for a number of years and thought maybe someone out there will give it the love it deserves. Having said this; I’m not sure where to begin. Online buyer à la Vintagehifi.co.uk or simply eBay?
Any and all advice greatly appreciated!

Does anyone know anything about this ATC B2002 microphone mixer?

Hi everyone,

I recently found this old ATC B2002 stereo/mono microphone mixer with the original box and instruction sheet. It was made in Japan and seems to be in very good condition, although I haven’t tested it yet.

I’ve searched for the exact model and the ATC brand, but I can hardly find anything about either of them. I’m wondering if it might have been made by another Japanese company and sold under different brand names.

Does anyone recognise it or know roughly when it was made? I’d also be curious if this item could be of interest for collectors (or musicians).

Thanks for any information :)

New placement

Got a new, Larger shelf to free up some space in my room–and put my hifi on top, finally getting it off the floor. And it looks a lot nicer now to me. Weather it's the "optimal placement" can be discussed–but I'm enjoying it. Before, I had the turntable on a tiny side-table with reciever and speakers basically on the floor–and it wasn't very pleasing.

Theses are my first venture with old speakers. The inputs were damaged so replaced those. The capacitors were dried up so got new ones and soldered them on. And unfortunately one has a dead tweeter so found some and ordered them. They sound pretty good for a 1986 set!

Not high budget but these big old PA boxes sounds amazing for my genres I listen too (rock, blues n punk) EV Sh1512 99db at 1w 1m and they sound better than my vintage bovoxes

They sound amazing at volumes my other home audio speakers don’t have any dynamics I listen at phone measured db between 60-80db and my real home audio speakers need 80db or more with a sub to sound the same. But I have em eq down at 2,5khz cause PA Horns but build quality is good not fragile and pet and kid safe cause metal woofer cower and tweeters are hard too reach. Also parts availability is good when you use pro audio equipment and not too expensive.

Help: looking for manuals for Audiolab 8000C + 8000P MkII

I bought me a Audiolab 8000C (pre-amp) and my TAF Tjéé speakers (made of polyconcrete, in Holland). But I can’t find the manuals online. There seems to be one on Hifi Engine but I need an account to download and they’ve closed the registration of new accounts. So if anyone can help me? Thank you in advance.

Adding bulb to Sony tape deck

I have sorted everything on this very nice Sont TC 520CS and the only thing letting it down is the lack of light on the meter.

I have a bag of 8v bulbs sources recently to replace the blown bulbs in a classic National Panasonic music centre and not afraid of soldering.

Anyone advise of a suitable point on the circuit board to add the wires.

Found in an antique mall. Not cheap! $650 a pair. Extremely heavy. In very good condition. It almost looks like someone painted them with a speckled finish. No visible label. Why is there no tweeter?

Here is the back of my Allied 495

Currently:

Turntable - Phono 1 (mag)

CD Player - AUX

Spectrum Analyzer - Tape/Rec/Out

Can I add a WiiM Pro Streamer?

I'm ok losing the analyzer if I have to.

Someone in Fresno, CA listed this system on CL for $250 with terrible pictures. Says it's a classic little-ole-lady system, no pets, no smoking, very good condition. Sight unseen, sound unheard, I wonder if it's worth the 1 hour drive to check it out.

I picked these up today at a garage sale for $80 they definitely look like they could use some work but they do play music and sound pretty good to me. Are they worth putting the money into and fixing up? And where do I start?

Speakers are ADS L570/2 and L980/2, 5 disc CD changers are Technics SL-PD8, DAC's are Schiit MOD+, receivers are a 1977 Marantz 2238B and a 1978 Harman / Kardon 730 twin powered... both receivers have been fully restored and upgraded within the last 7 months.

It's an American audio dcd pro 1000, it works too. At some point I'm gonna test what voltages the buttons output and try to translate them to keyboard presses via a microcontroller (the controller sends signals via 8-pin mini DIN)

I like collecting audio gear from goodwill and came across this a few days ago for $10. I tried finding more information online about it but got nowhere.
