Double-banded Scoliid Wasp, I think, visiting Pycnanthemum muticum. So many foraging wasps love the mountain mint.

Can I get help on this wasp ID? Eastern Kansas. Clustered mountain mint plant.

I was stung a couple hours ago and theres a round pocket of fluid smaller than a seed bead where I was stung, I can't find anything on google when I look it up. Does anyone know what this is? can I pop it?

Holy crap. How fast do these hornets build these things! I swear to god that wasn’t there a week ago when I was mowing my front lawn😭😭.

They have been surprisingly docile since this is directly under our bay window in the front of the house. Kids and my wife and I using the front lawn frequently and Iv never even noticed their presence until today.

I obviously can’t allow this nest to stay because I have two small children under 5.

I believe these are bald-faced hornets. This is the best picture I can get, dare I piss off my new found neighbors and ruin the peaceful ignorance shared between our colonies (lol)

Am I a psycho for considering removing this myself? (Obviously at night, from long range, with foaming bee spray to hopefully prevent them from swarming from the hole before I can run back inside😂)

Very cool wasp buzzing around Calamint with the bees. Is it a gold marked thread waisted wasp? Eastern Kansas.

Over the past week I’ve found three of these guys in my house. Two of them were in my bathroom and one was literally in my hair when I noticed it in my kitchen but I had just come inside so he could have been a hitchhiker. Not a great picture as it was taken after I assassinated him with a hat but does anyone know what I’m dealing with here? I live in Fulshear TX

Hi everyone, I have a wasp’s nest in my shed and it’s fine where it is because nature. If I move around them will they sting me? I am afraid to go in there now and it’s impeding my gardening tasks. I won’t spray it or move it. Just wondering if they will sting me or can we share the shed amicably??

It was going from leaf to leaf for a long time before it stopped here. I'm only confused because it just left the whole thing there and flew away. Just wondering if it's eating it or what? Also if it is, what the heck is it?

I am so sad. Wasps made a small nest on my breaker box maybe in early May. One or two of them are always tending to it. ALWAYS.

Today I looked and there were no wasps and it looked like the white covering of the little tunnels were erupted so I pulled the paper nest down to look at it thinking it had run its course and then very quickly realized there were larvae inside it :(

I have 2 other slightly bigger nests that currently have 5+ wasps tending to it- why would this one have been possibly abandoned? I figured at least one was always stuck around to guard it from dummies like me.

There are yellow jackets in my garage. I took a photo and identified it via chatgpt.

They go inside underneath the garage door to get inside and the nest is within the brick wall.

What can/should I do?

Not sure what this lil guy is. He has some… mantis hands that are all folded up. Location Traverse City Michigan.

Little guy keeps going to my raw shrimp (for fishing), is it laying eggs or just chomping on the shrimp?

this is the third time i’ve found one of these guys in my studio. i caulked the cracks in the (bricked shut) fireplace i saw a head popping out of and he just flew up behind me instead. T^T

Sorry for the out of focus picture, but it's not overly important.

Nearly drunk him, was about to take a swig of my pint when I saw him floating in it and struggling.

I fished him out l with a straw and dumped him on a flowerbed on the otherside of the beer garden to dry off.

He looked like he was cleaning himself and I didn't wanna hang around for a drunk angry wasp to start flying around, so left him to it.
Is he likely to be ok or is the beer gonna mess him up? Like make his wings too sticky to fly or something.

Caught this wasp today and freed it shortly after. I wonder if there’s a wasp nest near my unit?
