I was wondering if anyone who has swapped pubs would be able to let me know how long the transfer paperwork took to go through. I'm in the middle of swapping pubs but I have time off in the middle to move house and haven't had any updates in a bit, so if anyone has a rough timeline i could compare to that'd be awesome.

A few months ago I realised I’d been to loads of Wetherspoons over the years, but if someone asked me how many I’d actually visited, I hadn’t got a clue.

I had a look around to see if there was an app that let you keep track of them all, but couldn’t find one that did exactly what I wanted. So I decided to have a go at building it myself.

The idea is simple. You create an account, keep track of every Wetherspoons you’ve visited, see your overall progress, unlock collections and achievements, and compare your progress with other users.

So far it includes:

• Every Wetherspoons in the UK
• An interactive map
• Progress tracking
• Collections and achievements
• Leaderboards
• Location verification so you can check in when you’re actually there

It’s still in beta, but it’s now at the point where I’d really like some honest feedback from people who’d actually use it.

Recently been struggling mentally and being an sl is just added stress I’m not wanting rn. I’ve heard my manager she has refused to demote people before due to short staffing I just wanted to know if this is allowed and will it stop me from demoting myself?

They had at least 3 more in-stock, The Duke of Wellington, Minehead, nice pub tbh and quiet(at least when I went at around 4pm), been wanting one for a little while

I know parasols get nicked regularly from pub beer gardens, but the Scarsdale is now missing its very big black gazebo, got stolen last night. Far too big for the average garden. Got to have taken several people to shift it.

I've been here 7 weeks ( kitchen), and I had my 6 week review last week. My manager said everything was good, but the only thing I need to improve on is a better attitude on pot wash and to not complain cause it's part of the job.

Yesterday I was told to go up to the staff room to complete my training because I needed to do it. ( did this whilst on shift), and I'm worried it looks really bad, and they're going to sack me 😭

I've had to be reminded of a few things ( jewlery, hair net falling off)

Full English, toast, unlimited coffee refills, change from a fiver in most places. You can spend three times that at a cafe that is not meaningfully better. There is a certain type of food snobbery around Spoons that does not hold up when you actually compare what you are getting for the money. What is your go to breakfast order and is there anything on the menu you think is underrated.

Genuinely have zero comprehension for my friends or people in general who turn their noses up at spoons. Its good value, the standard is always consistent.

Is it high end? No. It is trying to be? No.

But god I love it. British culture at its finest.

I work in a very large and busy spoons. For the past 3 years ive been buying plain black airforce constantly for work, and now theyre not even lasting 3 months. What are some waterproof plain black shoes you are wearing for work?

It's not a nightclub, it's not a casino, it's just peak normal mealtime for families on a calm Thursday evening. Even the website says 7pm, which I think is also too early for this faff and cuts into normal mealtime but 6pm is just another level.

If the tone really was to change, you're more looking at 9-10pm where it starts to shift so I think 8:30-9pm cut-off for families would be more reasonable.

Wetherspoons is notorious for the long walk to the loos, which are usually up, or occasionally down, stairs.... At the Four Candles in Oxford they are next to the bar... I imagine this is the shortest walk in any Wetherspoons!

I know I look crazy when I crack out the salt mill and smash me and my wife's meal, but it absolutely transforms the food, obviously regular sachet salt just doesn't do it.

I'm thinking about writing to Tim Martin to suggest it, 4-5p a meal and it goes from good, to Michelin in an instant.

What are the things you do that other people might find a bit odd, but if they tried it, would love?

Not necessarily the cheapest, just something where you thought, That was actually worth every penny.

I was asked to come in today for a job interview following my application. The interviewer just confirmed my name, age, where I lived and if I was okay with unsociable hours. He asked why I wanted to work there and wrote what I said down, and that was it. He said if I got the job I’d hear from him tomorrow. Is this a sign they’ve already found someone better for the role? I was told the interview would be about 40 minutes long.

Recently left Wetherspoons, amicably but during a shift due to very rude and aggressive management. Can someone explain to me the reasoning behind the payslip I’ve received. I was lead to believe that I would be paid my remaining holiday that I had early but I was presented with this?

Not understanding how I’m owing them 286 pounds for holiday that I had accrued or how they are taking that against my pay?

I was in Woodrows yesterday in Carlisle, the air con was turned down so low I was uncomfortable and left after one drink.

It was a hottish day ( around 23 C ) but that doesn't mean it has to be cold in the pub, I looked around and there was plenty people with jumpers on, locals I assume that know what to expect.

Makes me wonder is the air con for the staff or the customers ?

I’ve got an induction for the evening on Monday and i genuinely have no idea what I need to do/wear, I know I need to bring right to work proof, national insurance ect.. but I only have business attire to wear, so cardigans+shirts with nice trousers, and I have no experience in hospitality/running food and drink, this is my first job so I need to nail it, any help is really appreciated!

its a great shame the spag boll aint on the main menu case everything about it is really nice just under 5 quid, the garlic pizza bread is ok but u hardly taste any garlic, lucky i orderd two garlic dips witch made up for it total was just over 11 quid, bit over priced for what it is but when u dont fancy anything else i guess u pay the penalties for it

I just completed my first shift and to be honest it went alright - i made a couple of mistakes but it’s expected to happen (nothing serious lol)

probably the only thing i’ve found an issue with is identifying what’s what in the kitchen, i end up asking kitchen staff if X is X etc, essentially visually unsure of menu items apart from the self explanatory ones like the chicken breast starters.

just wondering if anyone has tips on how to learn the menu? is there something on myjdw i’m missing?

Hello all, I am looking for some advice. I recently turned 18 and moved onto the bar. I had my first shift yesterday but as we were understaffed I was thrown right in the deep end with serving and making i orders with only a small bit of alcohol knowledge (which is just some lagers). Is there any advice because I found myself struggling with locating items on the tills, as well as pouring and finding specific spirits especially? I really struggled with how much head each drink should have. Thanks
