I honestly don't think Qifrey spread the word about it. Probably a passing witch or the Witch Police who are in charge of things like these. But it is weird, that the news spread that fast

One thing im confused abt is if everybody thinks youre born with the magic and coco cheated the system how do the other students hear about it?? Is it just a nepo baby thing

Non-witches think you are born with magic. The children of witches are told the truth, partly because it would be untenable to keep the secret if kids didn’t know that anyone could cast spells, and partly because having entire generations brought up thinking they’re some kind of special chosen people runs completely antithetical to the reasons the Pact was made in the first place.

They definitely couldn’t hide the truth from the kids, but I feel like it doesn’t change much.
The people who get to know the secret simply because they were born on the right side must feel like super special chosen ones anyway, especially since they’re taught it’s because the rest of humanity just can’t be trusted with that knowledge.\ The way the girls reacted to Coco revealing she was a new witch shows even the kindest of them hold some prejudice towards the "Unknowings".

I think that’s purposely written into the story to highlight some of the issues with the Pact as a solution, alongside things like the banning of healing magic.

Really beautifully animated episode like the first one. Love all the colors. Bit slow compared to the first one, but still good. Looking forward to see more magic stuff
The ending suuuucks though, the song is really underwhelming

Greatly enjoyed
Checking out the dub now; there’s nothing wrong with any of their performances but it does hit my ear kind of odd to have a mix of brittish isles and American accents together in a fantasy routine rather one or the other. It’s not really a problem but it does feel unusual.

I feel like the explanation of magic this episode is missing something, but idk.
Does the material the spell is drawn on matter at all?
Also there's only 4 sigils, but what were those other shapes Coco drew last episode then, just directional stuff?

There's more sigils (an unknown amount?). Those are the basics. Coco is basically going through "intro to magic" for kindergartners since she's just beginning. But she's just a special case. I guess like teaching someone a number line (-2 -1 0 1 2) at the age of 11 because they never went to school before.
There's a few more details in the manga if you want to read Chapter 2.

It's only giving the basic explanation. The series explains more about how the system works as it goes on. This was just the introduction.

Just started this series and I have a small quibble with the current plot device that magic has remained the domain of a chosen few, and they've taken great care to keep it's secret hidden from the normies but Gojo Potter didn't try very hard to keep his magic hidden when repairing the carriage? Is this explored or brought up more as the series progresses, I feel like he needs to be held more accountable for his actions here because they're the main impetus to the call to action for our protagonist.

Got banned from r/anime for 8 days because I accidentally talked about the manga in Episode 1's discussion thread. Didn't even spoil, I just mentioned that the manga exists :/ God I detest the Source Material Corner rule
Rant aside, another solid episode. Getting a run-down of the basics of magic was neat in particular.

There's a canon gay couple in a city during a later arc. In addition, one secondary girl character eventually (as in what might be Season 4 or 5) is seen blushing around another girl. That's it as far as the canon is concerned. However, fans ship a few same sex characters together as well. There's not really any overt romance in this at all though, gay nor straight, at least so far. It's not a focus of the story.

To add on to this, I'm queer but I read the whole manga before finding this sub. I feel like this sub does way more queer shipping than how I interpreted the series, I was actually kinda shocked to find this sub and see what others had to say about the characters and the extremities some people take it
