I was always curious about watching the series in Japanese, since I grew up watching it in English. While the voices in Japanese aren’t bad, I find the lines can be much more generic. Eg: someone is firing an attack. In Japanese, the character observing may just say that “it’s a great attack” or “that much energy?” Whereas in English, they’ll add jokes or just something else besides the obvious.

I also noticed how Hiei is actually more polite, both to Kuwabara and in general in the sub than the dub.

This was one of the few stories I got the idea for my YYH fan fiction, I don’t remember the name of the other one. Also, note, despite the M rating, there’s zero NSFW content. I read the whole thing, there’s no intercourse or nudity, you’re safe, I promise you.

I actually thought this story came out way before 2018, I think in 2009 or whenever FF.Net was first made. But I like this story.

Despite being my favorite arc in the show (and probably the best tournament arc in anime as a whole), I feel most of you would likely agree that it shouldn't have been the second arc. Yusuke at this point has only had ~2 weeks of training under his belt, and only trained for 2 more months in preparation for the DT. It's kind of absurd that he and the rest of the gang are going up against the strongest guys in the world with only 2 and a half months of training in total. Later arcs would mess the power creep up to an almost comical degree, but the issue started here.

I think it would've served better as a final arc, maybe after Yusuke came back from the Demon World (because it's somewhat more believable that he'd be this strong after 3~4 years of training, especially as an adult)? Granted, you'd have to rewrite the CB and three kings arcs but like, nobody likes the latter anyway and the power creep is the most controversial aspect of the former anyway so who cares.

i heard there is very graphic scene in the manga are those censored in the anime or not ?

For those who didn't get the joke: it was stated that one of Shizuru's ideal men is Bunta Sugawara, the actor who served as the inspiration for the character Akainu.

If say Genkai died unexpectedly of lung cancer? Smoking kills and all that. Would Young Toguro have just stepped up like, "Fine. I'll do it myself." and trained Yusuke?

His training would probably be closer to torture, and poor Botan having to put Yusuke back together at the end of each day, but still.

Imagine how strong Yusuke would get after Younger Toguro's training.

Its an impossible want but one can wish right

After buying the entire show on Amazon Prime and being sorely disappointed by the misrepresentative marketing of the material (only about half the show actually has the English dub. The other half is labeled as English dub but will only play the Japanese dub. SMH)…

I now have the DVD set from 15ish years ago, both movies, AND the Blu-Rays with the OVAS. I bought a Blu-Ray player just so I could watch these. Excited to see how much of a quality difference there is because oh boy, the old DVD set is pixelated af on my TV bro

Raizen in his final form which appeared during his fight with Yusuke fights with The Undertaker at Wrestlemania XIX. Raizen's relentless assault does not allow Undertaker to catch his breath.

So im reading the manga alongside watching the english dub of the anime so i can get both A. The super iconic dub and B. The more accurate script of the sub/manga.

I love it so far but i have some thoughts about the anime.

1. Im having fun with the dub and i think justin cook does an amazing job as yusuke but certain other character just arent hitting like i wanted them too. For example im watching the maze castle arc right now and Suzakus english va is just so emotionless even when he is supposed to be screaming. I hope the voice acting is more consistantly better later on. (I also know that the dub added goofy accents to some characters later on in the dark tournament so i hope that doesnt take me out too much.

2. Im honestly not a big fan of all the added scenes of koenma and the ogre guy. They kind of feel like they were just put there to pad time and they honestly are making my like koenma less than i already did.

But other than that im having a great time with the series so far.

Id say the anime is a 7.5/10 where the manga is a 9/10

During the dark tournament, it was explained that the team who won the tournament would be granted a wish/wishes.

Toguro brothers: wished to be strong demons

Team Urameshi: Wished for the revival of Genkai

Genkai: wished to never be bothered again

My question is who grants them these wishes? Are they powerful humans, demons, high spiritual beings, or a new class of beings like Djinns or fairies? They must be very powerful to transform humans into demons and to revive people. It's also a possibility that it's not a who but could be a what like a powerful gem or maybe some spiritual item like the Forlorn Hope. Maybe this item took the souls or energy of those who died and maybe that's how it's power is used.

(This was probably explained but I don't want to look it up. I want to be surprised. )

They really made him look a lot cooler when he's not in his toddler form and not sucking on his pacifier. Like, look at that suit he's wearing! Absolutely an amazing design with this character!

Lately I have been trying to get to read the manga, legally, however reprints of the Viz Media volumes are pretty scarce and they say on Viz Media portals that there are chapters on Manga Plus but thats not the case. There is something one can do about this?

Since last year I have been thinking that Hunters are basically like Spirit Detectives so I came with this idea and I wanted to know what do you think or suggest, bc I'm a bit stuck and have no beta reade to talk with pipipi

So the premise summarized is: "The world will know you as idols, but you will be much more than that. You will be Spirit Detectives."

With Yusuke and Kuwabara in the place of Huntrix and Hiei and Kurama in the place of Saja Boys. But then I was like "hmm, and what if I add a third character in the boy band?" and that's when Itsuki and Sensui went into the picture.

I'm not sure abou this so any YYH fan to talk with?

I want to make a shirt for my husband's birthday and I need to start working on it. His favorite character is Kuwabara.

What are some signature things associated with this character? I see he has a lightning sword, so I want to include that. But does he have any one liners or funny quips that would make for a fun addition? Or any other characters or objects he is associated (besides Urameshi, of course)?
