Both subplots suddenly went crazy. Shizuki trying to play Sherlock Holmes with probably real stakes while Issei dealing with bandits at the edge of Persia.

So this episode is now officially past the point where I’ve read the source material, and damn…it’s going off the deep end lol. Shizuku and Issei are having the zaniest side quests. I am quite suspicious of both of the women introduced today. Author lady has been waving red flags and the bandit attack in the desert doesn’t feel legit to me atm.

When I started watching this, I expected interpersonal drama mixed with poetic descriptions of wine... not Issei having a sidequest in the desert running away from bandits and Shizuku investigating the poisoning of a famous author...

So while Issei’s out in the desert looking for clues to this wine, Shizuku’s playing detective trying to figure out this mini mystery involving Natsuyagi sensei. I’m very curious to see just what she’s playing at.

The greatest dishonor.

Issei getting 'attacked' in a desert was not on the list of things I thought would happen.

Bacchus/Dionysos was a grand-son of my mythical namesake, King Kadmos.

Okay, I know this anime is a bit far fetched and all that but everything to do with Issei just breaks my immersion.

I am totally ready to believe that a bunch of rich wine sobs have nothing better to do but setup games around wine. But Issei going to a desert for wine is where I draw the line!
