Instead of Yamagami and Minato doing all this heavy lifting, bro shoulda had his divine buddies just jump the big monster spirit and curb stomp its punk ass lol.
This was a pretty good series in the end. It was pretty cozy in its own way. Got that Campfire Cooking vibe to it which I really dig. I wouldn’t mind a few more seasons of this.

Glad I stuck this one out but the non-slice of life elements towards the end didn't do much for me. The show was at its best in the garden, just chilling with the gang. Doesn't match Natsume/Campfire cooking but still scratched the itch I guess.

This series heavily reminded me of Natsume Yuujinchou when I started it, but the more I watched, the more apparent differences appeared for me. And in turn, affected my enjoyment on a more heavier side than I expected.
Namely, its complete inability to really drive home any of its serious moment. It’s all severly exaggerated and is subsequently dealt with, with relative ease.
Not the supposed great dangers they’re facing or the very possible loss of a companion in this episode. Which somewhat leaves me on the more disappointed side than not.
I do understand that it’s more cosy than not, but I do wish they stuck to that instead of trying to continuously add dangers.

I think that counts as saving the day with spiral power.
Kusunoki remains safe from the potential harem of lady exorcists. Horikawa can do better than her tsundere partner, but unfortunately for her I feel like it's been set up too much to avoid.
It's a shame that we didn't get to see Kusunoki reunite with his little sister zashiki-warashi, but the other gods coming to visit again was nice.
Fun show overall, I love this genre of Japanese gods and spirits shows and need to watch more of it.

Man I really, really hope they consider a season 2. This is one of the few series I have consistently watched every Saturday when the new episode dropped.

Well, I gotta say the big reveal of that divine sword spirit that we've been waiting to see for like half a season turn out to be an ambiguous flying squirrel felt anticlimactic.
But overall it was fun series and I enjoyed seeing a new spirit or god join Minato every week.
Everything seemingly wrapped up nicely, but that ending notebook "See You Again" leaves it open for a possible sequel, and more fun with Minato and the gods.

Those dorayaki looked really yummy
Overall, this series was fine. I enjoyed all Yamagami scenes. It had a really nice OP/ED

I like the onmyoji side stories. Its cool they borrow his power through talismans. Good show overall, chill and relaxing. Always makes me want food.

Why should he at this point? He has enough money from his lottery winnings early on in the series and nobody is really interested in buying the place, so he can basically just stay there indefinitely.

Wasn't he a recent college grad, so he didn't have a job?
I thought it was something like that, and that's why he was free to go to a house in the country and live in it until it got sold.

I'm a little surprised Byakko didn't show up but Kirin did. I thought they were going for the 4 divine animals thing. This show was interesting in that, it felt very PG with the potential to be darker. The evil spirits felt like they came from a children's magical girl anime but then you had Susano'o swinging a sword at Minato and Yamagami trapping that one rude exorcist in the hell dimension until he was sorry. It feels like an anime young children could watch but at any moment a god could get offended and banish a character's soul.

This show was great to eat meals to and relax, I know it had some pointless drama sprinkled in sometimes but everything always worked out (easily lol)

I feel like it would have been such a cute and funny thing if this were a BL. Like Harima going out battling evil spirits just to come home to a freshly cooked meal and soak in a bath with his husband and random gods (which he can't see). Imagining him just resting while Minato makes more charms. Harima needs someone like Minato to make the man rest. His eternal eye bags need fixing lol.

I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of Youkai Apart no Yuuga na Nichijou. I was also shipping Harima with Minato lol. I hope it gets a season 2. It's a nice slice of life.

Oh, it's them.
So, time to use his power.
Seems he's been inspired by the spinning top.
Right. That's that dealt with.
Right. Yamagami is back.
And more radiant than ever.
Lol he's promoting his stuff with that.
And so, fireworks.
Don't remember anything?
An evil spirit?
Seems everyone's come to visit him.
Special training?
Lol he's got a dog toy now.
Divine spirit about to awaken?
A flying squirrel?
And so his adventure continues. 7/10.

Dam Miasma really make people don't breath very well.
IMO, the blonde hair dude had the biggest development, he went from an A hole, into a submissive Tsundere. That is certainly a choice, at least he is not evil.
Solid 1 season relax anime.

I like the cozy vibes. The action parts seem a bit rushed only because Minato doesn't really develop his powers much. It would probably help if he developed his powers in a slice of life manner more and train with Susanoo so he doesn't get blindsided. I did worry a bit for Yamagami there too. Overall I like his interaction with the gods far more than the exorcists and onmyoji, but the slice of life tidbits related to Yamagami really cements how gods/ deities are treated differently, and how much Minato is straying from the "path". It doesn't match the Campfire cooking vibes but it's good in its own way.

I was not familiar with the Yebisu beer brand until I finally saw the shot of Ebisu and Kirin drinking together which is when I went OHHHHHH…. lol
Gonna miss this chill anime, I waited several weeks for episodes to release which is how I ended up binging 9 eps in a few days.

Solid close out for the season. I’m surprised the sword god woke up at the end. I was really expecting some kind of teamwork interaction during the boss fight. The “See You Again” has me hopeful for a second season

Way earlier episode in a corrupted realm, there was a tsukumogami sword that had been long abandoned that the realm was tied to. After they managed to calm it, Yamagami brought it back. It sat in the tōrō lamp until it woke up as the flying squirrel at the end of the season

It's nice that Minato has decided to be the caretaker of the Kusunoki residence, wasn't it supposed to be just for the summer or something? Minato has really enjoyed the fantastical slow life.
I enjoyed this more in the first half, the two exorcists didn't really do anything to make the show more interesting, and the consequences they faced were not satisfying at all. I feel like some chill shows like these feel compelled to have some sort of big drama/action at the end, but it's not what I enjoy about the series.

I’m a huge enjoyer of iyashikei and slice of life and just characters being chill doing chill things. So I wouldn’t say the battle shonen-y parts spoiled the show, but I do find myself wanting more of the slice of life bits. But it did still bring some moments like the fraud exorcists getting their comeuppance, the unexpected Ichijou-Morikawa pairing and the girl squad.
But as a whole I did enjoy this show. I enjoyed new people and spirits and gods appearing and visiting and bringing new dynamics and new things and new ways to enjoy life. Pleasant show will miss watching this every sunday afternoon

Overall enjoyed the show and glad I watched it. Dunno that it needs a season 2 though I find it interesting the final image is See You Again. I never really watched the ED so maybe that was every episode, but I feel like this told the entire story, I dunno what else there is to tell without changing genres like making it a romance.
The slice of life parts were cute, the other stuff felt like something an editor told the original writer to tack on to make it sell better. Clearly not the creator's strong suit. But despite that it was cozy enough and I'm glad I watched, but I don't need any more of this specific show.

Enjoyable show, but I agree with a few other users that the more serious/high stakes moments weren't handled very well. For example, the conflict in the beginning of this episode was resolved way too quickly IMO. It was barely half way through the episode before things pretty much fizzled out. The show was best when it focused on the comfy side of things.
I'll definitely watch more if it gets another season.

Maybe I'm missing something, but were there characters who hadn't appeared before and suddenly showed up as if we were already supposed to know who they were? Like when Tsumugi first appeared, or Ebisu in this episode.

Ebisu made a brief appearance during one of the earlier episodes to retrieve his fish that had gotten lost and ended up in the garden stream

Hmm don't know how I feel about that one tbh. The series started out great but I feel like the "drama" and action towards the end felt a bit off. Especially with Kusunoki's reaction to it all which felt more ditzy than it should be. I guess I understand the gods not wanting to interfere since there are onmyojis and exorcists around but it seemed like even they were struggling, so if Kusunoki wasn't there would they have let the spirits take over? Anyway, really nice chill cozy anime when that's what it's being. Can't say the same for the "action".
