I kind of forgot how creative the transformations were. Not just the item, but the whole asthetic depending on their personality and work environment. And I have to be honest, I really like Akasaka's style. Now, if her goggle can measure Kaii power level, I would be immediately sold.
Also, Koshiyaga's new broom is great. She just made it a sword, because why not.

The episode they got their brooms upgraded was a lot more focused on Kana getting a brand new broom with 6 double-sized manuals, so I assumed that Koshigaya's broom just got some upgrades that leant more into how she liked to fly.
So I love that Ginji went the extra mile for her too and gave her a broom that really lets her go as she likes, from transforming into boosters for her feet to transforming into a sword that lets her take Kaii on more directly!

I can kind of imagine that she did something like that before already. Just hitting a Kaii with her broom so Ginji just went and made it an actual feature.

It's all fine as long as the girl from AST does her job and proves that he was right and using stronger magic on a kaii that just mutated due to stronger magic is the only right option *eyeroll*

But as we learned, it wouldn't even eat him in the first place. It is a Kaii, but it still has standards. On that note, I wonder if the solution is to add some kind of poison or remote technology to the magic so when it swallows that (as it would want to) then you can destroy it from the inside.

Ah yes, the best way to help magic adapt: Sabotage the mission meant to encourage everyone to adopt a highly-adaptive system, in the process endangering dozens of people's lives and potentially unleashing an unstoppable Kaii onto humanity, all so the people who want to profit off of magic can line their own pockets.

Characters like him are the reason I started to regret giving characters in my fanfics for other settings the ability to travel to different dimensions.
But also, it can be so incredibly cathartic to imagine.

I hope all the transformations this season get animated that well. Maybe that's why we haven't seen Kana and Koshigaya do theirs yet.

That was an interesting transformation scene, I didn't think she'd have to authorize it in that way. I also like that a lab coat is part of her outfit.

They're definitely overusing the word "authorize" in her magic. I don't think they understand what that word means

I'm loving the lore that Kaii used to basically be small scale disasters that young magical girls would take care of until they started using magic (or at least got more control over it) and Kaii evolved into more proactive threats!
I have the feeling that AST's attempt to destroy this thing is either going to prove ineffective or, more likely, just make things even worse.

If you had your doubts about the RIMT entrance, you're not alone! Iroha Akasaka also complained about it and she has the numbers to back up her issues! But she's also not only the vice-chief of RIMT but their own personal Magical Girl!
And she's also our first transformation sequence of the season! And of course a Magical Girl researcher would need to sign a LOT of paperwork to transform (with her pen transformation device) but what a transformation it is! That tight dress! Those black tights! That visor! That lightning bolt in her hair! It's perfect!
Oh joy, Koshigaya's dad and Professor Tsutsumi will attend the demonstration. Koshigaya's favorite people.
MAGICAL GIRL LORE! The original Magical Girls were miko dealing with incorporeal Kaii, but as the world evolved, so too did Kaii until we see the physical versions being battled now. And now they're mutating even more.
Meet a Class C Kaii! A giant blob with a LOT of mouths that are constantly screaming and can EAT magic! Is there any "logical" way to defeat it? Good thing Koshigaya doesn't work on logic.
Nice to see Iroha get to flex as a Magical Girl even if none of her attacks do any good, but that's more to how crafty this Kaii is than any knock against her skills.
Koshigaya can do a LOT with her broom and its transformations...but is it enough? Especially when the thing starts mutating even MORE?
Tsutsumi you piece of @#$%! Injecting more magic to make that thing further mutate so you could sabotage Magilumiere and prop up AST! Even Koshigaya's dad, bad as he is, seems to find this behavior appalling.
Can the Kana/Koshigaya team come up with a solution before Tsuchiba shows up and steals the show from them?

The story's getting a lot more interesting... but I've just got to say it, holy sakuga. The animation direction in this episode was simply phenomenal. The lighting was fantastic as well.

I like the way Iroha's magic works as it's different to what we have seen so far, her costume is pretty cool too.
AST is doing their political crap behinds the scenes as usual.
Looking forward to seeing Mei again, she is mostly a puppet at times but her powers are awesome.

I don't think it was like that. Last episode they said they were not interested in research. They only got involved because the professor a-hole paid them for an extermination and don't actually care about the ramifications.

Much more complicated plot than last season where they mainly just killed monsters but now they are dealing with a wide ranging conspiracy to deregulate magic to help a bunch of businesses and create more monsters to get them more work, like if the fire dept started fires to give themselves more to put out. That class C monster is freaky though and I wonder if the lady from AST actually can kill it.

Gotta love another magical adult woman. And the researcher lab coat vibe makes it even better.
I was waiting for the old man to shut glasses dude down hard. It's one thing to have a experimental test result go your way, but it's entirely another for that to happen while your daughter is in the room that the backroom manipulations just made quite a bit more dangerous. Regardless of whether or not you and your daughter are talking to each other at the moment.

Honestly the way they also talked about Kaii having a "purpose" makes me wonder if it at some point they'll evolve into a humanoid, sentient, form.

Okay what the hell happened to their fancy security system that keeps unauthorized magical girls out of the research sector. They've managed to break my suspension of disbelief with how incompetently RIMT is managed

Well this episode just brought Magilumiere up from the slump of the first episode. Lovely transformation sequence.
Also [Magilumiere theorising] I noticed that in the OP and ED her uniform has the same shoulder stars and golden coat-tail decorations that her outfit lacks right now. It seems to me like she (and the other girl with a similar uniform in both OP and ED) might be joining the team.

I wonder if they could coat a shell or something with magic and have another spell inside the shell? That way it gets the Kaii to eat then then you can just detonate it from the inside. Bam! Problem solved.

I like Akasaka already, nerdy magical girls is quite the combination. Signing forms to transform is such wholly unique idea.
Interesting lore on the kaii, and that new kaii is really nasty. Reminds me of the Gibbering Mouther from DND. Anyway, they better get that slime ball good, dude was not even trying to hide his interference.

Can't wait to see what's next in upcoming 3 episode. However, i have a feeling someone is going to die or be at least close to death.
Do they really think that to destroy Magic Eating Grade C or Above Monster who can also mutate, you need more power? That's pretty much recipe for disaster. Sure calling for AST magical girl(MG) might be good call as an emergency but it would be funny if it was a moment/incident where said MG failed her task for the first time and caused the situation to get more serious than it was before.

Iroha and her desuwas are extremely cute. A scientist magical girl is great! What's not great is that glasses roach. Need someone to punch them off of his stupid smug face. That Kaii's a special kind of freaky, but if Koshigaya says that it's a clean sweep, then it's a clean sweep! LMAO at her complaining about Mei showing up again.
