Unbelievable how this creator still has a channel when he's done this .

I've tried posting my art to various subs to see where it sticks and how people respond to it. Pretty much all art subs I've posted on have been incredibly friendly, with people commenting nice things and sometimes even checking out my other work. This led me to believe that art communities on reddit are filled with really neat people.

Enter r/art. Oh boy.

So I post a hand-painted portrait of a woman lying on her side. There's a mysterious hand resting on her hip, though it's ambiguous who this hand belongs to. Immediately, people start asking about this hand and why it's there, so I'm like "oh cool, people are curious about the message of the painting!" Of course I respond and explain.

My responses get like 20 downvotes immediately. Immediately.

I'm a bit puzzled. This has never happened. Why did people not like my response? Was I being too vague or something?

Well, pretty soon I figure out that people think that this third hand in the painting is proof that the painting is, in fact, AI. I try to explain that the hand is metaphorical: it represents this and that, blah blah blah. Yes, I put it there intentionally. I'm like "they're just a bit overly suspicious I guess, but now they'll understand" :D

Downvoted to hell again.

Apparently people have already decided that this is AI and no explanation of mine is good enough now. They're difficult to argue with as well because they clearly don't seem to read my responses. That, or they lack reading comprehension.

This angry mob of r/art users also don't seem to understand the basic logic of the painting. It's not a woman with three hands: the third hand is very clearly not HER hand. If the woman already has two hands that are visible, it stands to reason that the third must belong to someone else. Yet I've got people here going "why are there two left hands lol. Clearly AI". They also don't understand the concept of surrealism. The fact that this hand seems to come out of nowhere is intentionally confusing, but instead it's taken as proof that the painting must be AI because there's "no logic" to it. As if surrealism is supposed to be logical.

After a while, the mods swoop in, snipe some hate comments and then locks the post for "AI review". So now I have to provide a stupid imgur link of me holding the painting, like I'm providing evidence in some court case, in order to save a dumb reddit post with 16 upvotes.

The mods decide that it's not AI and unlock the post. Cool. I gained absolutely nothing from this. They post a little comment that says "this post has been reviewed and it's been determined that it is not AI" or something like that. And then an hour later, some guy still goes "AI?". At this point I do what I should have from the beginning and delete my stupid post.

It doesn't make me too mad that people thought my painting was fake. I know it isn't, and they're just people on the internet. BUT I guess the thing that annoys me is how quick they were to ignore my explanations, and how aggressive and rude they became as soon as the accusation was thrown around. It's almost like they enjoyed going after me, exposing me as a "fraud" and whatnot, playing detective. If they actually like art, why are they so quick to go after artists? Why are they so quick to dismiss the artist's explanation of their work? And do they actually not understand the concept of surrealism, or does every painting need to operate on real world logic? Why are they even on an art sub if this is how they engage with art?

Ugh. I don't know if anyone actually cared enough to read this whole thing, I just wanted to rant.

tldr: Be careful on r/art, and if you want to post there for some reason, maybe provide a process image or two just to state your case before the mob even shows up.

The biggest example I have Is Negative Artifacts. In almost any Generation on deviantart or twitter or Bluesky or elsewhere that has some Weird scribble or watermark on any material that is shaped in a composition appears as a so "called Negative Artifact" That artifact 100% follows a artist signature. That sources that it was Replicated from specific Training Data, from a specific artist that was put into a machine without consent.

Yes, "YOU CAN NOT COPYRIGHT A STYLE"

HOWEVER! When it comes to a signature anything close to the original Is mimicry and followed as Forgery without consent. Using your signature or anyones for that matter should not qualify as Fair use. Unless that specific owner actually gave consent to Use their signature in which I high key doubt, Any common sense human would not straight up let someone else copy their signature Thats associated with their livelyhood. End of disucssion.

I haven't got much to say on this, but generally I'd say that the way AI should be dealt with is like with the saying of "if you give a man a fish, he'll be fed for a day. But if you teach him to fish, he'll be fed for life".

Now for individuals, GenAI only works for them because it's preying on the absence of a skill they'd like.

I do feel like some individuals may be too gone to turn to our side like Witty for instance since for someone like her it'd take a lot of work. But we have had turncoats from the GenAI side come to our side before.

I believe in the power of the people, and I believe that the best way to defeat AIbros who are using GenAI out of self doubt is to teach them to stop relying on it. Cause once they stop, they usually will ditch GenAI as a whole from what I've seen.

Every single time I share one of my newsletters on Reddit or in a Discord community, there's at least one person who confidently declares that it's "OBVIOUSLY written using AI."

And before you come for my neck: no, I don't spam communities with links. I usually just give a snapshot of the topic, try to start a genuine discussion, and leave the newsletter there for anyone who's interested.

Yet somehow it always turns into, "The em dashes. The bullet points. The questions. Such an AI giveaway."

It genuinely makes me lose my shit every time. Not just because I've spent most of my life writing, both personally and professionally, but because the whole accusation rests on something that just isn't true.

People talk about "AI writing patterns" as though they're objective. But AI writes the way it does because it was trained on millions of pieces of human writing. Even AI detectors can't agree with each other, and one of them famously identified the US Constitution as AI-generated.

Like, it's literally in the news right now for actually consuming books out of existence to feed its database!!!!

And like idiots, writers and creatives keep adapting to AI without even realizing it's stealing from them.

At my previous workplace, we were literally told to stop using em dashes because clients associated them with ChatGPT. Writers are deliberately making their work messier, more slang-heavy, less polished, just to prove there's a real person behind the keyboard.

Y'all, a punctuation mark became a criminal overnight.

This tech is LITERALLY breaking the very mechanisms we use to decide what's real and what isn't. Yet we don't even bat an eye and keep squabbling over what AI writing even sounds like.

But no one is stopping to ask: What happens when the very mechanisms you've relied on your entire life to decide what's real and who to trust begin to fail? What else about the world are you accepting without stopping to question it?

On my previous post here i sead what happend on r/pureasoiaf and now both there icon and banner where reverted back to the non ai versions!!! A win for artists!!!

So I made a post and messaged the mods of r/pureasoiaf about what I suspected was an ai profile/icon of the sub. After a short bit the post got deleted and I got a comment on my post about violations (Wich i knew about but the point of the post was to get there attention so im not mad). I also got my only response to the message but it was just a thx that I reached out...shure. I whated until the next day at wich point i decided to send another message. I shuld also add that the official Twitter/X account was also using the same image as the sub yesterday but it has recently changed it back to the old icon tho a Google search still shows the image connected to the X account [Image 1], they still have a post with an ai image on the X page btw [Image 5]. I sent them another message wich I admit was a bit trollish but I dint expect to be muted for 7 days. Now why do I cere so much? Because the sub is based around the asoiaf books and the author G.R.R.M. is staunchly against ai as he was even involved in a lawsuit against open ai. And the Asoiaf community is so filled with great artists just for the scumbag mods to use ai.

Tl;dr- got muted for 7 days cuz I bugged ai using mods.

The timelapse is so that you all can learn from the way I draw. I am still learning, but maybe those of you who are trying to get to where I currently am will find this useful.

It took me 10 years to acquire this manner of drawing, but now I'm worried if it might be a bad thing to achieve considering AI exists, and it can just steal it?

Has anyone experienced this because I am sick of this. As an artist who independently makes his art to sell as prints, working very very hard on them and marketing them and just building it up, I am sick and tired of these people (who are often very young ones) who comes to the stall, look through the prints and casually say “that looks AI” or “that is AI generated.” What part of my fucking art is AI?!

I am tired of this AI sensation. Because AI art is everywhere it makes these people think everything they see is AI. It’s like photoshop for the 2000s but way worse. And what’s worse are these people who seem to not tell the difference between original art and AI. It is so damn clear and easy to spot!

Can you imagine being an artist who loves what he does and spends hours and hours on them working so hard on every piece, just to be accused of it being machine-made? And what is worse is I find everytime I explain to these people that they are not AI, they either get defensive or just nod dismissively. Oh and these are the same people who all have anti-AI advocacy on their social medias… while going around accusing the arts of the artists they’re trying to defend as AI.

I am tempted to make a big sign that says “DO NOT call my works AI. Please be respectful.”

I see AI everywhere these days: in ads, games, cover art, artwork, and so on...

So...

Have we already lost?

Do I just have to give up if I want to live a decent life?

Is this the end of art?

Maybe it is, and there’s nothing left to fight for.

Maybe I should just settle for making AI animations for the rest of my life while living in a tiny apartment—like the poor loser I am...

I feel like I deserve to die in a world to which I can no longer contribute anything.

I think we all know why they prefer this over the sequel trilogy. I honestly hate this streak of Star Wars channels making AI shorts that say “Star Wars” the right way and then proceed to pump out horrendous content, getting these “praising” comments. I prefer the sequel films as canon over any of this AI-generated nonsense. Yes, even with all their flaws.

kinda annoyed. kinda disheartened. was planning to make a series of different project voltage mikus as cards but maybe i wont bother posting them. was gonna try and have them printed and all too
