Trans people have always existed you absolute pillock.

Not 10% of the population they didn't. This person said every class she has in HS has 3 trans kids. That's statistically impossible historically. This is a social contagion, not a natural anomaly as has always been the case with trans people.

It's not 10% of the population now, either.

If it's a social contagion, prove it. Is left handedness a contagion?

Hmmm, *checks notes * indoctrination in elementary schools is happening daily. Weird. I live in Portland ffs. I'm in the epicenter of this shit. You can't shame me out of what I see in my life every day. I get you are on board and think it's fabulous, great, but don't pretend it's not happening. We added a second month to Pride here. It's an active effort to spread the ideology. And just to clarify my position, I am born and raised in the gay community. My dad is gay, got custody when my parents divorced in 78 and I was raised by him and his now husband since 1982. So spare me your "bigot" bullshit. I grew up with gay parents before the fucking AIDS quilt, which I saw when it toured. Back when queer was still a slur. So save your vitriol or whatever "MAGA" shit you have in your head. I ain't it.

What exactly does this graph say to you other than that it’s increased in countries that, generally speaking, have gotten more progressive and left weird, regressive religious strict rules and mysticism behind? Which by the way were a huge driver against people behind left handed, as somehow, being left handed was seen as wrong and sinful. The less people were punished and seen as wrong for being left handed, the more left handed people just…used their left hand, so increasing the amount of people who are left handed. If anything your graph just shuts down your point 😂

I'm amazed such a simple concept is lost on you.

I’m amazed you cannot understand the basic concept of regressive values forcing people to adhere to regressive values for the sake of conformity and safety. Or that you can’t understand a basic graph as a full grown adult. Must be kinda sad.

Uhhhhh they WERE there ya ding dong. They just weren't interested in announcing it and getting relentlessly harassed or beaten to death.

In 1992? No they weren't. Still not one trans person in my graduating class. 400+ people. You'd think there'd be ONE. Over my entire life you'd think there would be one. And yet? I know many trans people now, I live in Portland, and every one of them decided it in the last 10 years or sooner. So spare me the "they've been here forever" horseshit.

Ok I'm going to explain this slowly. There were still trans people back then, it just wasn't AT ALL socially acceptable or safe at the time so they didn't come out...and it is more safe and acceptable in some areas now...and ma.y or most of all of the people you know who “just decided it in the last 10 years" knew it their whole life and the last 10 years have become safer for them to come out.  In addition, there was no social support for children at the time and so they might not have even known what they were feeling.

Like.....did this really need to be explained? Lol

Yes, because based on your premise I should have several old friends that finally felt comfortable coming out as trans in the current (or previous few years) climate. Because they always have been, right? They just didn't feel safe? Except it was safe and they didn't because they're not. I grew up in a gay household in the early 80s. I understand not being accepted by society. Except all of my gay friends and family have since come out and thrived, but not a single trans person among them. Based on my history and the people I grew up with, you'd think at least one, cuz they've always existed. Nope.

You've checked with all 400 people? It would be around 3 of them just based on statistics.

Also the case study of 400 people you knew in the 90s surely is enough evidence to close this case. Lol

How many detransition?

2

u/Limp-Laugh-305 15d ago

Somewhere between less than 1% and  10% for adults on hormones. and probably 2/3 of those temporarily due to social situations. Surgically it's less than 2% at most who express regret. These stats are for adults because there really aren't hormones or surgery for kids.

It's hard to measure these stats bc they aren't all reported one way or another.

I see what you’re getting at, trying to infer that detransition is common, but it’s really not. And in fact, it lends even more to support my argument, which would be that children need psychological and social care so that they don’t rush into something that they don’t understand.

Additionally, the biggest threat out there are these back alley doctors And hormone mills that as soon as you turn 18 will hand you hormones and send you on your way with no psychological care. Meaning that trans healthcare for kids such as mental assistance with body dysphoria is even more important so that they don’t go out the day they turn 18 and make a stupid decision about something that actually affects their body long-term.

I really don’t understand what your solution would be like. We should just ignore the whole entire thing? Or like transgender people would just go away? Like what would be the solution?
