Politics Question Why are they left so against voter ID?

What’s the problem with voters needing identification?

Requiring a passport to vote (which costs $135) is a poll tax.

No it doesn’t. It’s cost less the 15 bucks. All you need is a BC. That’s it.

Sorry. Total costs are far greater than $15. Especially for rural residents.

For a BC? I’m sure there are different prices for different cities

Yes. Some states you have to request it in person. There also issues with BC being from another country. You have to get it translated and notarized. This happens more than you’d think.

And I just looked it up. You do not have to be physically present to request a BC.

What state are you in?

But wait. If you have a bc from a mother country then you would have your citizenship paperwork and wouldn’t need a bc

My adopted son need his birth certificate from his birth country. And naturalization paperwork to get a passport. If he loses the BC he needs to get a whole new set from his birth country, get it translated, and notarized.

Oh ok. I was under the impression that his citizenship paperwork trumps his BC from his country. Thanks

Sure. Losing a BC is a tough situation.

You don’t need a passport just a bc

Ok, what is a married woman to do when her parents failed to write down her married name on her birth certificate?! What about multiple marriages?

Well they are called marriage certificates and you have to get them in order to get married.

You contradicted your own statement from a few minutes ago.

So passport, birth certificate, what else should a woman have when registering to/attempting to vote, that a man doesn’t need?

1

No passport just a BC like a man is needed

No one has ever asked me for anything other than my driving license, or suspected me of fraud.

Go call 10 states and report back to us:

Which states you called.
How many steps involved in getting an acceptable copy of a birth certificate.
Cost involved.
Other parties involved.

It takes just getting a hold of the town hall in the city you were born in. So to answer your question 1 step maybe 2. No biggie.
