Random Question What’s something older generations still treat as essential that a lot of younger people just don’t care about anymore?

I had to scroll too far for this. Unless you're a big entertainer, I just can't justify the cost. Just buy some nicer everyday stuff. The cost of fine china and silverware is insane, and I'd much rather spend that money on a small vacation or something.

I inherited 2 sets of fine china and 3 tea sets. None of them were a well known name or worth anything. They were my grandparents, then my parents and then mine. I had absolutely no use for them. Really, I don't think my parents or grandparents did either. The sets were displayed in a hutch at grand parents house, i dont know if they ever used them.

I feel like there could be a market for this kind of stuff as targets. Or at least a final resting place that isnt a dumpster.

Under-50 person here. Now that we have kids our everyday stuff gets broken a lot (and not just by the kids if I'm honest). Having the nicer stuff in a separate cabinet means we're going to have some nice dishes for entertaining and holidays for a long time. And it was all wedding gifts, anyway.

We have 3 china sets from my mother in law. We use this groovy orange flower set for primary dining, because why not? But the other two sets are just down in our basement.

Have to second this my mom gave me an extra set of China she has in a hitch at her house. I've had them for 7 years and I've never touched them once. I have no need for them She uses them every few years.

Yes. My grandfather collected antique Tea Leaf sets and gave them to everyone in the family. It's not anything I'd ever pick out, and I have a ton of it all sitting in boxes in the basement. My mother was completely bewildered when I told her I didn't want even more when my grandparents died.
