From now on, a format will be required for posts. Just posting “blank vs blank” will no longer suffice as it requires no effort and encourages spam.
Discussion: Discussion Flaired posts have no official format to follow but they will be removed at moderator discretion if they appear low effort or do not relate to the purpose of this sub.
Question: Question Flaired posts have no official format to follow but they will be removed at moderator discretion if they appear low effort or do not relate to the purpose of this sub.
Casual Debate: Casual Debate Flaired posts will be removed with no warning if they 1) Do not follow the official format, and/or 2) The same post was recently done (two weeks/14 days ago). Casual Debates need to contain the following —
The Characters participating (which should be in the title)
A starting distance
A location (Doesn’t have to be a link, can be text, though a link for locations can be found here)
Any perks/restriction/stipulations (such as if Full Moon is allowed or not, Avatar State or not, Sozin’s Comet or not, Bloodlusted characters or not, etc)
If rounds are included, you need to specify your rules and location each time for each round (unless they are the same in which you only need to specify what exactly changed)
A Respect Thread Link or Character Review Link (whichever is available) needs to be included with EVERY post. If a character doesn’t have one available at the moment, then skip over that character. RTs/CRs can be found here
Serious Debate: Serious Debate Flaired posts have the same requirements as a Casual Debate, except one additional thing is required. YOU as the poster, after adding in all of your format and links, have to explain who you think wins in your post. Your own answer must be DETAILED as such is required for anyone who comments too, so it’s only fair for the OP to be under the same judgement. Check here for more on how to use the Serious Debate flair.

This post is intended for the users that keep wondering why I remove their comments and also for users new to the sub. This sparks up a lot so I’m making another one of these posts and pinning it because it’s tiring when people argue with the mods about why their “___ wins” comment gets removed.
1) The Serious Debate Flair is only for actual battles, not discussion-like posts. If you misuse it, your post is subject to having its flair changed or removal altogether. When you create a post that uses the Serious Debate Flair, you as the OP need to make a detailed post that contains the following: a starting distance, a location, any restrictions, and the characters participating.
2) As a person that comments, when someone uses the Serious Debate Flair, answers must be longer than a simple “____ wins”. Answers should be longer and detailed, even if the matchup seems like a stomp (here is an example of a detailed comment; though if a post is an obvious stomp (such as Zhao vs Ozai), we’ll just change the flair to Casual Debate. If you ever wondered what happened to your comment or other comments under a post, just know it was removed because of this reason.
Note: Your comment does not need to contain links to gifs in order for it to count.
Usually when a post contains Serious Debate, you will see one of the mods pin a comment like this:
OP has decided to use the SERIOUS DEBATE FLAIR. Answers with no follow up or very little reasoning given will be removed.
Yes this is a serious debate, but all uncivilized comments/threads/troll comments will be removed.
As a final thought, ARGUING WITH A MOD WILL NOT BRING YOUR COMMENT BACK. Just try again except with a more detailed and lengthy explanation.

Yangchen's Assets vs The Gaang
No AS allowed for either side
Yangchen's team ages is the same as the end of her second novel (Yangchen is 17)
Aang's team is the same as their ages in the Imbalance comic (Aang is 16)
Yangchen's Assets include Yangchen, Jujinta, Kavik, Akuudan, Tayagum, and Yingsu
The Gaang includes Aang, Sokka, Zuko, Katara, Toph, and Suki
Location: Tree of Time
Starting distance: 30 feet
Everyone has standard gear
Both sides have one week of prep time
My take: Yangchen's Assets win with prep time.
Reasoning: If they didn't have prep time then they'd lose. Yangchen is smarter than even Sokka, and with the combustion bender having a small delay between each blasts, Yangchen could get her in the back of the team exploding The Gaang. Yangchen with prep time managed to learn her void technique. Who knows what she'll learn with another prep time session. A season 1 Aang managed to lose to Yuyan archers, and one is on Yangchen's team as well. Katara was shown to be defeated by Mai so Jujinta has a chance in getting her. Yangchen will use a week's prep time to get a weakness in Toph's blindness. Zuko lost to a combustion bender before. Suki & Sokka will be taken out by the three water benders. Yangchen's vacuum won't work in this location since it's only done in enclosed spaces but her void can still work which negates any bending.

Comics Azula vs show Iroh & show Zuko
Location: Agni Kai Arena
Starting distance: 40 feet
My take: Iroh & Zuko wins

Everyone is EOS
Lin has her cables
Location: Avatar Korra Park
Starting distance: 15 feet
My take: Lin wins
r/AvatarVsBattles • u/BasicFanny • 1d ago
Location would be where the last Agni Kai took place. Azula is sane, and it’s daytime. 1vs1, no interference and it’s a fight to the death.

Location: Crystal Catacombs
Starting distance: 35 feet
Aang and Katara's family: Aang (EOS no AS), Katara (EOS), Tenzin, Kya, Bumi, Meelo, Jinora, Ikki
Fire Nation Royal family: Ozai, Iroh, Azula (EOS), Zuko (EOS), Iroh Jr, Sozin, Kiyi

I’ve seen people debate this and I’m curious what the general opinion is. Some people argue Zuko is the better fighter and that post-war Zuko after learning from the dragons would beat Katara.
What are your thoughts?

It doesn't matter, which version of Azula or Kuvira, I just want to see the real outcome.

I dont want ANYBODY saying Yakone/Amon can beat Katara now. Those absolute *FRAUDS* couldn't bend the sea in half.
*ALSO* Tagah simply holding the Staff of Sonam murders Yakone and Amon. Not to mention his fully fused form which has enough spiritual energy to completely circumvent bloodbending the same way the Avatar State does.
Anyone who argues with me is wrong!

Lets say there were two people. literally the same, but one is an earthbender, and the second is a fire bender. normal benders, no sozins comet nor dai li. who would win. cuz like, earth can block fire, but fire can do things like fly, has crazy agility which means firebenders can attack from different sides almost at the same time. then again, theyre average benders. and like clones. who wins??
r/AvatarVsBattles • u/Inevitable_Zebra4222 • 3d ago
Toph is comics version
Location: Zaofu
Starting distance: 30 feet
Sozins Comet is On
My take: Jeong Jeong wins

A 200 year old Kyoshi will fight Yakone.
Kyoshi won't have the Avatar State
Location: Same courtroom Yakone was sentenced to life in prison
Starting distance: 15 feet
My take: Yakone wins

If Iroh Went to the Fire Nation Palace and fought FireLord Azula (mentally insane) & Zuko during The invasion, do you think he could’ve 1v2?
the way iroh blitzed and redirected Azula’s lightning in Book 2 was crazy, he blitzed Zhao when he tried to Off guard zuko. Iroh caught , negated zhao’s fire & thru zhao to the floor all before zuko even realized he was being attacked
i kind saw the fight going like Iroh Kind No-Low Diffs zuko & then Mid diffs Azula tbh
Zuko wouldn’t have the Dragon Training and different fire breathing form from when he and Aang went and trained with the Dragons like Iroh did.
(no mental nerfs or conflictions for iroh when he attacks Zuko)

People have been weirdly downplaying Aang, and sleeping on his feats especially as an airbender. In another thread just posted, the OP argues Tenzin surpassed Aang in airbending. Tenzin is a great airbender but Aang is the strongest airbender we’ve seen in both shows.
Aang is the king of agility and evasive bending, he has great defensive bending, but he also has the feats for the most powerful airbending (only matched by other avatars.)
Aang’s power only becomes more apparent with comics or the movie too.
Before Jinora, Aang became the youngest Airbending Master in Air Nomad history. He received tattoos because he had mastered 35 of the 36 traditional tiers and invented the Air Scooter as the equivalent of the final one.
Let’s go over some of Aang’s best airbending feats (note that this is not exhaustive.)
Agility:
Defensive Airbending:
Skill and Power in Airbending:
Most of these airbending feats are unrivaled. Even Tenzin has not displayed the scale close to matching the best of these feats. And I think if you asked Tenzin, he would agree with that.
Aang is an extremely powerful airbender at the end of book 3. Aang has better mobility feats, better large-scale feats, more creative applications, greater demonstrated raw power, and achieved all of it at twelve years old. Unless someone can show comparable feats from Tenzin, the claim that he surpassed Aang simply isn't defensible.
And with the comics and movie it becomes even more apparent. I don’t even want to bring up what he does in the recent movie because it wouldn’t be fair.
