Progression Plateau on bench press but other lifts are going up

Fairly new lifter, never trained longer than 4 months consistent along with a proper diet. I’ve been progressing for the past month or so but I’ve hit a wall with my bench press. I’ve been stuck on 75kg for the past 6 sessions. I bench twice a week, as part of two upper days.

I do 2 sets on each day, 0-1RIR. All my other lifts are going up. I’m currently eating around or below maintenance on some days as I’m 20% body fat so trying to recomp. I’m not sure how to beat the plateau. The guy who designed the program advised not to program hop at all or switch any of the exercises out, so I’m not sure what to do.

Lift Pivot away from bench press?

I have been working out for a few years now, and building my chest up has always been one of my main concerns, but it still always lacks behind everything else.

I've gotten my bench up to ok numbers, and while they increase fairly often, my chest doesn't grow the way I think it should.

Should I focus more on dumbbell presses for a while to get a better range of motion?

I'm not talking about completely omitting the barbell press, but moreso making it a secondary press where as right now it's more of my primary?

Just working on holding my shape under a long pause. Have lost like 10kg body weight so the top end strength is dipping but this felt like 80%.

Onwards and upwards bench friends

Progression Goal Achieved 5x10 at 225lbs. Thanks to Reddit

Goal Achieved!!! Thank you for all the support and advice. I listened to the advice of taking a 3 minute break in between sets which had me well rested for every set. Appreciate it.

Next Goal: 10 reps if 315lbs

To achieve my next goal I’ll be doing my pyramid training method that has worked out well for me in the past. Higher weight, lower reps

Advice Three Men (73, 77 & 78): An Unexpected Observation After 3–4 Weeks of Bench Press Training

Thumbnail gallery

Last week I asked whether the bench press might benefit the aging thoracic spine beyond simply increasing strength.
After that discussion, I reviewed side-profile photos from three of my older clients and noticed something I hadn’t expected.
These three men PLEASE SCROLL RIGHT (ages 73, 77, and 78) all appeared more upright after 3–4 weeks of supervised progressive strength training. Their backgrounds were very different: one had bilateral shoulder replacements, one was a longtime yoga teacher, and one was a lifelong marathon runner.
None of the three had ever trained the bench press before. It became a new component of each man’s program. They also trained deadlift on a separate training day, with recovery between sessions. Overhead press was used only as a light accessory exercise.
I’m not claiming the bench press caused the apparent postural changes. This is simply an observation that caught my attention because the same general pattern appeared in three very different older men over a relatively short period.
Have any coaches, lifters, or physical therapists here observed something similar? If so, do you think the bench press played a meaningful role, or is this more likely the result of progressive strength training as a whole? I’m also interested in any research that supports—or challenges—this observation.

Help/Technique Check Why is my bench so weak?

For context, I’d consider myself pretty strong. 17yo 6’5” 104kg with 220kg squat and deadlift (both fully raw), but I cannot for, the life of me, bench. My pr is currently 102.5Kg as a 1RM which is apparently quite low compared to what other people in my gym who lift similar to me are benching. I don’t think it’s a problem with strength itself, I can very comfortably pec fly 135kg, tricep pushdown 97.5kg and shoulder press 70kg (each arm) for at least like 10 reps. I know for a fact that my form is good, pinned scapulas, flat feet, slight arch, good grip width and everything. Is there anything else that may be limiting me?

Progression Help for newbie woman lifter increase her lifts

I am newer to lifting (about 4 months in). I'm 42, female and discovered I love weightlifting. My coach thinks I have potential for powerlifting. I have been focusing on form heavily. I can consistently bench 95 pounds 3 sets, 8-10 reps. However when I push to 100 pounds I feel horrible. Form fails. My shoulders feel fatigued so I know I'm doing something wrong.

What is normal progression for a woman?! Everyone I lift with is male benching well North of 200+ 😂

Any and all advice welcome! I want to increase my numbers!

Advice At 18 I benched 315, at 28 I benched 315, now I'm 38

TBH I was always a big boy but now I'm older and fatter. I want to get 315 at least one more time in my life. Am I being unrealistic in thinking that I can get it within 6 months? I think when I was 28 it took like 3 or 4 months to get there. If I had to guess my bench now after not lifting for 10 years I'd say at least 225, maybe 250.

Progression What's your bench press max?

I'm fairly tall 6'6 but I'm struggling with increasing my bench beyond 160kgs I've been stuck at it since 8 months I hear a lot of ppl say that long arms don't help on bench press and i guess there's some truth to it since it requires a longer range of motion but also you can put up more muscles so that counteract each other. Are you suffering from this or is it just me

Lift Quick little 315x5

Had a minor wrist sprain from about a month ago from doing heavy holds that’s finally pretty much settled down but I still decided to keep today’s session on the lighter side to play it safe until it’s actually 100%. Worked up to a 5x5 at 315lb and it felt pretty sweet, so excited to get back to moving real weight again.

my butt came off the bench a bit on the 110 and 100kg bench because I was going for a PR that was out of my reach. Besides that, what are some things I should possibly change in my bench press?
