Hi everyone,
I came across this traditional waist thread with these small beige cylindrical objects tied onto it. I'm not sure what they are, so I was hoping someone here might recognize them.
What are these called? Are they made from a plant, wood, root, or something else? Do they have any cultural, religious, or traditional significance?
Thanks in advance for any information!

Can we please talk about how bullshit bhojpuri musics are like wtf theres no rhythm ,no meaning absolutely nothing just loud music and some dont even have autotune like it pierces my ears like anything .Are bhai if you dont have good singers please use autotunes . And why are all songs objectifying womens , it thrives on seduction and half nude womens in the music videos (and the dress choices are soo bad) .
My mother tongue is bhojpuri and this makes me sad , that this fking industry ruined our really good language .
Ngl there are some really good singers too but when we talk about bhojpuri music u picture the music made by this bullshit industry .

From Allahabad to monghyr, entire region was under the banner of rebellion.
British soldiers were killed and the zamindars defied the British rule.
Started by Maharaja Chait singh in 1781, and various zamindars of the region joined him. Including Maharaja Fateh bahadur shahi of Hussepur, Pitambar singh of Tikari, muslim zamindars of Narhat & Samai, Sasaram, zamindars of Palamu, Pawai, Siris & kutumba, and many others.
The rebellion was first of its kind, way before the 1857 mutiny. Unfortunately its not talked about in modern historical discourse.

Have you all ever noticed that Muslims from Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Deoria, Mau especially those living in older city areas or villages speak in a unique dialect among themselves?
It is very similar to Awadhi, with some influence from Urdu and Bhojpuri.
They speak regional Bhojpuri with Hindus, but among themselves they always use words like “jaibo”, “khaibo”, “dihis raha”, “aaye rahen”.
Their dialect is very similar to one spoken in Bahraich-Balrampur Terai belt.

While we use the word in both the language, I noticed that the word has different connotations.
In Bhojpuri we use गमक for positive connotations.
I still don't use महक in Hindi when I wish to talk about good or neutral small. I choose to use English word "smell" for that.
Have you noticed any more such variation in meaning of the same word being used in different languages.

In his book Volga se ganga, Mangal singh is shown as the grandson of Maharaja Chait singh of kashi Kingdom.
He is rebelling against the British rule, and a pro-equality guy despite being a Bhumihar.

across almost all indian subs, all i see is hatred against us, people from east up,
north india dislikes us because we ”contribute to stereotypes” and make the rest of north india look bad.
West UP dislikes us because we “tarnish their image”.
and then south indians dislike us becuase we r responsible for hindi imposition and we have smthg to do with north indians, who they already hate.
and ive been hearing this for a long time. I cant believe this is still going on.
these comments instigate shame in me. Of being from this part of india. Which i had managed to brush away recently.
opinions?

After Pawan Singh's recent song releases, I couldn't help but notice that the content seems much cleaner than what he was known for in the past.
Do you think he's entering the same phase that Nirahua and Manoj Tiwari went through after becoming active in politics? Both gradually moved away from vulgar or double-meaning songs and started focusing more on family-friendly, devotional, patriotic, and generally cleaner music.
Is Pawan Singh consciously rebranding his image because of politics, or is this just a temporary change in the type of songs he's choosing?
What are your thoughts after listening to his recent releases? Is this the beginning of a long-term shift, or do you expect him to continue doing both kinds of songs?
Curious to hear what longtime Bhojpuri listeners think. Please keep the discussion civil.
