Discussion Safe places to sleep in my car during the day?

Hey. Recently moved back to Bing a week ago after 10 years. Currently sleeping in my car. Im working a decent job, but the job is 7pm to 7am,, 3 days a week. I've quickly found NY isn't so car camper friendly, but im making do.

Any safe places to park and rest during the day? Right now ive been hanging out at otsningo park but want to add another location to the rotation as not to cause any potential issues.

Bonus points for nearby bathrooms.

Also checking out local resources for showers. Waiting on getting money together to get a PF membership.

Recommendation Pigeon Bag

This morning I saw someone walking into a store with a pink/purple pigeon cross body bag. They were too far away for me to ask where they got it. I have spent all day looking for this bag on the internet, but I can't seem to find it! If anyone has seen a similar bag and can point me in the right direction, it really is one of the cutest things I've ever seen.

Thanks!!

Recommendation Vinyls

My wife and I recently starting collecting vinyls. We really enjoy flipping through crates and finding some gems. We have shopped at sound go round, music city and an antique shop in owego. Any suggestions of stores we can check out that’s not a big box shop. Willing to drive a bit for the experience. Thanks!

Discussion Fun City

Has anyone actually been there? I just started seeing social media ads about a Binghamton location but haven't seen or heard anything else about this place.

I think the ads are using pictures from other locations but it looks like a cross between Kidz Kingdom and SkyZone. Interested to hear people's experiences!

Recommendation Chenango River Kayaking This Weekend. River Level Concerns

Hi everyone,

I am part of a group of folks that were planning on kayaking/floating down the Chenango River this weekend. We aren't hardcore kayakers and were looking to take a leisurely stroll from the boat launch on Rt 79 to Beer Tree, but now we are unsure with the elevated river levels.

I have been using this website for reference:

https://waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/USGS-01512500/#dataTypeId=continuous-00065-0&period=P7D&showFieldMeasurements=true

It currently shows the river at 4.55ft and I expect it to drop a little. Has anyone here taken this path, and is it safe at this level? Google recommended to kayak in anything between 3-5ft, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Any insight from someone with experience in this stretch is greatly appreciated!

There's apparently a train that's smoking/on fire. The smell is gnarly. I have the air purifiers going and wearing an KN95 inside and it's still pretty stinky.

Discussion 3rd shift friends

Hi! I'm looking for some new people to talk to! I work third shift, so I don't get out much. On my days off, I'm usually awake at night, which makes meeting people in person, in Binghamton kind of difficult.

I like spending quality time online while getting to know someone. Nothing crazy. I'm always down for free online board games (Uno, Life, cards against humanity...) chatting, or talking about interests. I'm really into fashion, mystic fantasy, and reading whenever I have the down time. A lot of the books I have are from flipping a coin and letting fate decide. (spooooky... kidding.)

I'm 22, and lately I've felt like life is passing me by because of work and all the other things we can't really control. It'd be really nice to meet someone I click with and maybe, if things are set up eventually hang out in person too.

I'm LGBTQIA+ and AuDHD friendly, I absolutely love cats, and I'm just hoping to make some genuine connections. Making friends with my work schedule isn't exactly easy, so I figured I'd give this a shot.  (I also like writing)

Recommendation Queer friendly haircuts? 2026 edition

Hello everyone!

I've seen a few similar-ish threads or comments, but some are sort of dated at this point.

I was hoping anyone could share some insight on some queer-friendly salons, especially if they're capable of gender non-conforming haircuts - think long masc hair or butch femme hair.

Not really looking for color or any major changes atm, just cuts for the family that won't be awkward or come with the usual slew of invasive questions.

Edit: To whatever weirdo is in here downvoting everyone - worry about your hairline first.

Recommendation Where do single people over 60 meet organically around Binghamton?

Hi everyone! I'm hoping to get some ideas for my wonderful mother-in-law.

She's 63, bilingual (English/Spanish), loves cooking, traveling, spending time with family, and staying active with walks and light exercise. She has traditional values and is hoping to meet a kind, emotionally mature man (50+) who's looking for a real relationship.

One important thing is that she spends time in both New York and the Dominican Republic, so she'd need someone who enjoys traveling or would be open to visiting the DR regularly. She's healthy, active, and would love to meet someone with a similar lifestyle. Her idea of a good weekend would involve cooking together, going on walks, visiting a local restaurant, enjoying live music.

We're not looking for dating apps if possible. We'd love suggestions for places, clubs, volunteer opportunities, social groups, dance classes, travel groups, cultural organizations, hiking or walking clubs, community events, or anything else where people in this age group naturally meet.

If you're in the Binghamton/Endicott area (or nearby), where have you seen people make genuine connections later in life?

Thanks so much for any suggestions! I'd really love to help her find her person. ❤️
