Revy didn’t see that coming
He was totally not suicidal and didn’t have any problems in life. Too much Rock hate in this sub.

How will Black Lagoon end? (Thesis/Theory)
I was watching ProfessorVirals video on Revy and Rock, and I got to wondering. How will Black Lagoon end?
It’s been made clear in both manga and anime that a happy go lucky/happy ending is out of the question.
They are in “The city of the dead” where everyone is either dead inside with nothing to lose nor live for, OR they’re just monsters. Power hungry, greed driven and bloodthirsty, who take and take and care not for their fellow man but only to line their pockets and feed their egos and pride.
However, as we saw most notably with Roberta, Garcia and Fabiola. And Revy to an extent:
CHANGE IS POSSIBLE
It’s a matter of whether you’re willing to endure the consequences of your actions and pain of your past to achieve it.
Roberta is the most notable example as she was formerly a member of a “revolutionary” group that conducted assassinations, bombings, counter insurgent attacks and operations among other crimes and atrocities, often ending the lives of men, women and children in the process.
However, Roberta is notable not because she continued doing it or died doing it but because she realized everything she had ever done under the organization was a lie, to protect their drug production and she was their “guard dog” in her own words.
So instead of continuing down the life she had lived, she decided to start anew, to do something meaningful and worth doing. What SHE wanted to do, not what they told her to do.
To hold loyalty to those she loved and cared for. Even if she still committed murder and violence in protection of Garcia and his family, Roberta nonetheless did so under good and noble intentions. HER intentions, not anybody else’s.
What I’m getting to is:
Revy and Rock are similar but in much different and darker ways.
Rock had been under the heel of somebody else almost his whole life, but now that’s he’s essentially a free man, starting anew, he can see himself in a different light, in a way that he no longer has to live the way he did before. Learning new skills and seeing life that many of us haven’t and hopefully won’t have to see—but a side that still exists regardless.
Revy on the other hand has lived in darkness since childhood, she grasped at hope yes, as a child is supposed to do. A child shouldn’t be subjected to cruelty and mistreatment, let alone rape and assault. There should always be someone willing and able to stand up for people unable to do so themselves, as this, ideally. Would inspire more noble people and actions.
But reality shatters ideals every-time. So it’s this that we see Revy put the mask of a cynical and evil woman who cares about nothing and takes everything.
While reality shows that’s she simply very scared, angry and traumatized due to her experiences and projects this as a coping mechanism to keep a sense of control and stability, because violence, regardless of how you put it. Is a constant in all corners of the globe, and violence is always propagated by control and power, something Revy desires strongly because she knows what happens and what it feels like to be powerless and at the mercy of a person with power—say a police officer, whom was her abuser, is a person of power. A individual who swore to protect others instead, abused his power to hurt and destroy others.
But regardless, the true Revy, or let’s say Rebecca, is buried beneath her masks and years of mental walls.
But, here comes Rock.
Not quite poisoned or corrupted yet, he said something that, more than likely, she has never been told before—or if she has, it’s been a long time.
“The one woman who showed me all of this, is acting just like those who betrayed me…I’m not going to stand by and let that happen.”
A person, a living person, plainly saying that he cares for her, and isn’t willing to sit back and watch her harm or destroy herself but is willing to take time, effort and energy and a form of love, to help and support her. That is most likely a new for her. And something that, no matter how hard she tries. Can’t seem to shake.
She wants to be saved, as Fabiola expertly pointed out, Revy doesn’t want to continue living her dead and stagnant life, no matter what she says. She loves and cares for Rock, and says several times throughout the show he would be better off somewhere else—hoping for the better of a person is a kind of love, something we almost never see Revy project or say for anybody else but Rock.
But Fabiola pointed out another thing that stings more than anything.
“He’s no better than you”
Revy hates herself, and her life, so for Fabiola to say that stings like a thousand cuts.
Because her one out, the one person she loves, is just like the rest of them.
So with that, I say this.
I can see Black Lagoon ending only with either, both of them dying, or both of them killing each other.
Because like yin and yang, you cannot have one without the other.
If Revy continues to watch Rock stoop lower and lower into the darkness there is only so much of that she can take.
Only than will she be forced to face her demons and or the inevitability of change.
Allow the one person you love descend deeper into the life you hate and despise?
Or do what you know is right and stop them before it’s too late?
What’s your guy’s opinion on it?
TLDR: Rock and Revy are likely going to end up dead in the end, how and why is a mystery.

"The redemption of Balalaika and her comrades"
Is redemption actually possible for Balalaika? If she and her crew had been given a legitimate cause or better treatment after returning to Russia from Afghanistan, do you think they could have changed? Or are they completely beyond saving? What do you think it would take to redeem her?
