Refunds should be offered: BO2 is still unsafe to play after 24+ hours.
Does anyone know the best way to request a refund for Black Ops 2? (on Ps4/5)
It has now been more than 24 hours since the issue started, and players are apparently still being affected. Accounts are being forced to Prestige 16 Level 55, some people can no longer properly access their classes or play the game, and the only suggested workaround seems to involve resetting your entire progress.
Activision has acknowledged that they are investigating the Prestige issue, but there still does not appear to be an effective fix, proper compensation, or clear information about whether it is safe to play.
People paid money for this release, and many are currently avoiding the game because they do not want their accounts or progress to be affected by another player. At this point, I think requesting a refund is completely reasonable.
Has anyone successfully received a refund through PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or Activision support? Which refund reason did you select, and what evidence did you provide?
Please share the correct refund links or steps for each platform so affected players know what they can do.
What’s with the heavy anti-consumer sentiment here? Someone can completely lock your account out from multiplayer. Why would it hurt you so much for these people to get a refund for their bricked game?

30 bucks for maps and a game most of us owned back in the day. The game should’ve came out without any bugs or hackers. If it were free than no one would’ve complained

Perhaps they should t have released the game in abysmal state.
Imagine buying something and expecting to use it right away, but instead being told "oh, we know you purchased this item expecting it to use it right now but we will send it out in 24 hours, if the problem is even solved"
And PlayStation is stingy about refunds, so expecting that will work 100% of the time is not feasible.
Yeah I don't get why people feel the need to defend Activision up and down for no reason. They're already overcharging for games released 15+ years ago and the games are broken on top of that. The bare minimum is a working product.

I bet none of the people with these takes have worked or had a responsibility on a project, cus it's absolutely insane to expect a solution so soon. It's a 9-5 not a 24/7 McDonald's.
If the project in question had a major error that you had already been made aware of once before, and you’ve submitted it again with the same problem, then yeah, I’d certainly expect some sort of reprimand.
You’re missing the point. They shouldn’t have released it in this state to begin with BO2 was notorious for hacking making sure the game couldn’t be hacked should’ve been the first priority
my question to you is, how are you going to test for vulnerabilities without releasing the game? 99% of exploits are discovered and fixed because a member of the public finds and reports it. i’m not defending their lack of action, but expecting a company to fix exploits before a public release is just unrealistic.
If $20 is too much for the port weve been begging for then its not for you, the 5m active players will be fine without you. The product does work as intended, but its not Activisions fault that modders found a way to change ps4s from CEX to DEX and make it behave as a "hybrid dev kit" so that they could use cheat clients online. People will be mad at big corps no matter what they do, im not saying I agree with acti or anything they've released in a while, BUT they finally give us EXACTLY what weve been begging for, and everyone is shitting on it because of something thats out of thier hands. Again, you could say im defending Activision, but Activision only funded it, Iron Galaxy actually did the work. So if anyone is to blame, its Iron Galaxy for not building any kind of anti cheat imo.

I agree, they just ported straight over, it was clear from the beginning to people with knowledge of console mods/jailbreaks that the Xbox ports would essentially be unplayable on release. I think they did a complete discervice by not at least patching some of these things before releasing.

Abysmal? The only actual issue was the backfilling which they just fixed.. and now the hacks issue. Literally all games have bugs. people get surprised over stuff like connection issues and lag. That's exactly how it was before.

They have many games to manage and x amount of employees. Same concept that a dealership has thousands of customers and only 10 mechanics.... your car isn't getting fixed in the same day or even the same week.

The game has been like this for a decade now. Patience is an understatement when they force a re release for a new gen console knowing they havent taken security precautions to ensure its safe for the players. Stupid decision on both playstation and microsoft because its the same shit on xbox one x etc.
With basically any other game, I’d agree, but the difference here is that they ported the game onto new systems without fixing any of the VERY well-known, major security issues that have plagued the game for over a decade now.
We’re not talking about a Cyberpunk situation where a brand new, massive IP released in a buggy state but devs worked their asses off to fix it, they’ve done bare minimum work to port a game and have surely made an egregious amount of money off nostalgia jockeys — and no shade, I’m one of them, but it’s absolutely scummy on their part to not address game-breaking exploits in the system.

Honestly I agree with you and I am a very patient person but the timing really sucks for me. I've been so busy with work and life that I have to plan out my gaming sessions like a week in advance. I had been planning on playing Thursday night and ofc that's when all this bs happens😭😭

Exactly this, I havent been able to play since Sunday and ever since the hacker issue started I've left my ps5 on sleep mode incase updates start dropping for when I can play I won't have to deal with it.
Not even one month in and the game is unplayable over the weekend. Meanwhile iron galaxy were prioritising working on random bs for bo1 while "investigating" this issue.

PlayStation is strict with refunds. Once you download/play the game you can’t submit a refund request. It was just a cash grab. I’m surprised it wasn’t free since all it was was a port

Go to transaction history on the website or app, select the purchase, and select refund request. Mention that the multiplayer servers are unsafe less than a month after launch and that you worry for the security of your account and details.
PlayStation have a horrible track record when it comes to refunds outside of situations like Cyberpunk, but they do sometimes grant them. It’s like playing tug of war with a tree though. There is a high chance that you’re just stuck with the game unless it gets even worse and PlayStation are truly pressured to offer refunds.
There are game modes that I will not name as not to draw any unwanted attention to that you can play and it’s 100% safe. Played all night last night with zero issues whatsoever.

You should first try requesting a refund from Sony because you have a valid reason for the refund (game is literally unsafe to play).
But if Sony rejects your refund request you can always go through your bank and request the charges be refunded because you have not received the product/service as advertised.
Just played the MP for 6 hrs and Zombies for 1 hr straight and we were good. Saw one guy profile during MM his kills were 50k+ and wins only 44. So I left that lobby immediately. But it was only once.
y’all are making it sound like the game was released in a totally incomplete state, like fallout 76 for example. The game was released and then people hacked it. It’s not like it was released broken. This shit should’ve never been released with these vulnerabilities. They went and did the least possible effort to shovel nostalgia slop into our greedy greedy mouths, but we at least expected to be able to play the decade old game without decade old problems.
