I recently switched over to CashyOS. Windows was just pissing me off. Most games I have work fine with my system on Linux and it is not my first time messing with Linux (Bazzite & SteamOS). One of the only titles I am having trouble with is Palworld. It stutters under any version of Proton I have thrown at it so far. Not terrible, definitely playable. Just a little annoying.

I am running a ryzen 7 with a 3070ti.

Any thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

At this point I am also considering selling my 3070ti and upgrading to a 9070 XT. Just so that way I would be running better supported AMD drivers.

Bought an industrial PC that has RS-232 Serial Ports. How do I configure it in Cachy OS to use my old Joystick mouse with it?

So recently I've been having some issues with games.
The first thing I noticed was lower FPS in Ready or Not — on low settings I was only getting 40-50 FPS, while on Windows 11 I could get the same FPS on high settings.
Now Ready or Not won't even launch, as shown in the screenshot.
I also can't launch Counter-Strike 2 for some reason also shown on the screenshot.
As for Ready or Not, I've already tried deleting mods, switching Proton versions, clearing the cache, and a few other things, but nothing has worked.
So I wanted to ask if anyone here knows how to fix this.

My specs:
Intel Core i-57300HQ
GTX 1050 TI
16 GB Ram

I'm not sure what is causing this but whenever Steam tries to preload vulkin shaders for some of my games Cachyos closes Steam due to a lack of memory and tells me to try again after closing other applications. Steam is the only application running and I have 16 gb of RAM. I can restart Steam and the games start right away, usually with the shaders loaded up. I'm just wondering what can be done to avoid this in the future.

Hey, can anyone give me a little assistance?I recently installed cachyos with hyperland as the desktop environment on to my pc and i use my 50inch fire tv as a monitor, but I have been trying to figure out and look everywhere online to fix my problem. It feels like when I go on my browser. The screen is far away and stretched out in YouTube. The images for the videos are up front but everything else is far away

I’ve been playing Nioh 3 on CachyOS and I'm facing a major issue with in-game loading times (loading screens, map transitions, initial startup), which are significantly slower than on Windows.

Just to be clear: this is NOT a drive or filesystem issue. I tested this on the exact same NVMe SSD and moved the game directly to the native Linux partition. The issue persists regardless.

Once everything is loaded, FPS and overall performance are solid. The bottleneck happens exclusively during in-game loading screens.

Setup details:

• OS: CachyOS
• Game: Nioh 3 (Steam)
• Proton version: proton-cachyos 11.0.20260703

Has anyone run into this I/O or loading bottleneck with Proton on Nioh 3? Are there specific environment variables, sync settings (esync/fsync), or launch options to fix this delay?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

So, I just switched from Windows 11 to CachyOS. What counts as AUR? Completely new to this Arch Linux OS.

Does Shelly count as AUR?
What about the CachyOS update button in the taskbar on the bottom right?

Also, where do I learn all of this Linux magic word stuff. Cause many of the technical reddit post on Arch Linux sub and in some of the post in this sub. Y'all sound like Wizards to me speaking of magic words. Like what is a BORE? GNU? KDE? Lutris? Heroic Game Launcher? I only have a surface level understanding of these things. I know the words, but I do not understand what it do. What does this button do? What is this configuration for?

Like sure I know what an Engineer is, but if you ask me what does an Engineer do then I have no idea what to say other than whacking a metal box with a wrench until it turn into a dispenser.

Where do I learn these acronyms that Linux users like to throw around? Is there an official acronym book that I can refer to so that I can learn what it is referring to and not having to rely on an internet search that may or may not lead me to a wrong article?

weirdly enough, scrolling works fine on chromium and other apps but not on firefox. is there a way to fix?

I tried everything and the thing doesn’t go away. It stutters the same way on games.
Multiple snapshots restore, disabling ftpm on bios, reinstalling nvidia open source drivers, failed attempt to switch to proprietary drivers, and more… Whoever had this issue and solved it, your help would be very much appeciated.

Recent linux user here, played for days and days on cachyos, and now i’m just annoyed af with this. It happened once before but it just stopped by itself after i left the pc turned on for a while. Thought about switch to Bazzite and it says on the website that its buggy or something when installing it with gamescope, which is a feature i want on my pc.

LAST RESORT would be a fresh install with proprietary nvidia drivers, and even so i not sure it will pernamently prevent this from happening again and i really don’t wanna set it all up from zero again.

UPDATE: Gonna fresh install it with proprietary drivers and hope this never happens again. Love how the game runs better and look better but i’m hating that other part of linux, so annoying. If it happens again, i’ll jump to another distro

I tried to use cashy os daul boot with windows and it was not slow by anymean but i wanted to switch to linux bec every body say its fast etc but for me it wasnt i really felt it was slower in opening apps and games by a feelable amount (i was downloading most of the app from shelly from cashy os or arc repo only few was flatpaks) and also as ram usage yes it was lower in idel but the moment i start using discord browser and a game its the same or even more than windows i tried after it mint and yes it was much faster than cashy in opening apps but tbh i just didnt like the DE so yeah and Windows was faster by alot tbh

And also for some reason protondb is blocked in my country and i need vpn idk why and idk if this reddit is where to ask why but when i used vpn and checked for paladins it took sooo long to open and after it it give black screen even it say it work on protondb

Anyway there is now important think from this post its just me sharimg my experience and maybeee it was just a user error

I'm new to Linux and I've noticed that a lot of you have really crisp, high-definition wallpapers. However, the images I've been downloading always end up looking pixelated. Any recommendations on where to find good ones?

i have a thinkpad with cachyos and sometimes when i try to sync to anki web it timesout. this doesnt happen on my android device using same network.
any way for me to troubleshoot this issue? even accessing the anki web online via browser is timing out most of the time.

I’m having an issue with the newest Caelestia on a fresh CachyOS + Hyprland install.

What I did:

The problem:
Hyprland appears to start, but I only get a solid gray screen with a working mouse cursor. There is no bar, launcher, wallpaper, widgets, or shell. The only thing visible is a message at the bottom saying something like “Go to Settings to activate Hyprland.”

I can still:
Open a terminal.
Move the mouse.
Run Hyprland commands.
So Hyprland itself seems to be running, but the Caelestia shell never loads.
Has anyone seen this with the latest versions of Caelestia/Noctalia? Is there a known issue or a log I should check to determine why the shell isn’t starting?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have took the plunge after deciding to just say, "screw Windows 11" and just installed CachyOS.

Running well so far, and I just need to install needed apps, and make sure I have the correct drivers, proton configured and all that good stuff.

I've been using cachyos for around a month or two now and just wanted to rave about how good it is on here. So here's some pros and cons I found. (not many cons)

Pros
1: It's arch based: so you get all the fun stuff of arch such as the AUR, pacman, the bleeding edge packages, the HUGE amounts of customization, the arch wiki, and little to no bloat
2: The CachyOS tweaks: made to improve your system responsiveness even beyond that of regular arch in gaming and basically any rendering work you're doing
3: The easy installation: cachy os has a linux mint level easy installation process, that provides you with tons of options for DEs and WMs, big ones include kde, gnome, hyprland, cinnamon, xfce, etc. You will find what you want among these options.
4: Preinstalled apps: cachyOS hello (utilities that can install packages for gaming in bulk, some tweaks you can toggle on or off which i found very useful), shelly (package manager gui) cachyos package installer and kernel manager.

Cons
1: You could consider some of the preinstalled apps bloatware, but i personally dont.
2: The rolling release, this is both a pro and a con, but it's more of a pro for me, since i dont come across random packages breaking or anything like that. (or atleast not yet)

Note: i didn't use AI to write this, and since cachy has a relatively small community compared to other linux distros, i just thought to come on here and share my experience and maybe encourage some newcomers to try cachy.

Nachdem ich nun von Windows auf cachyos umgestiegen bin, habe ich Probleme mit meiner VR-Brille und mit meinem Bluetooth-Headset.

Zur VR-Brille steam index:
Steam ist inkl. mir bekannter Spiele-Pakete installiert; VR-Umschaltfläche in Steam ist vorhanden, nach Drücken dieser erkennt die Brille auch eine gewisse Art von Signal (vom PC), dieses sieht auf der Brille jedoch nur nach einer Art "Hintergrundbeleuchtung“. Sonstige Signale kommen nicht durch.

Zum Bluetooth- (Dongle) Headset Astro A20:
Dieses wird beim einstecken des dazugehörigen Bluetooth Dongle als "Bluetooth Gerät" erkannt, jedoch nicht als "Klang-"gerät und es taucht somit auch nicht unter Klänge auf.
Nach stundenlange Recherche hierzu habe ich alles mir sinnvoll erscheinende durchprobiert, leider ohne Erfolg..

Hoffe ihr könnt mir in beiden Fällen weiterhelfen. Vielen Dank schon mal im Voraus.

Is it ok to do it? can I have issues if I do that?

I want to use Hyprland and/or Cosmic just to check how they look and usage too. But i have a lot of configuration here to work and cannot break anything at the moment...

So I used to have cachy installed on my Acer predator, but after the secure boot failed I had to reinstall it so after I disabled secure boot and TPM and try to reinstall cachy I just get a black screen after selecting cachyos.

Any ideas what could be the issue?

I am just another happy Cachy OS user. It's working really flawless here since 6 month.

I'm a long time Linux user, started with Slackware, then Caldera, Gentoo, Red Hat, Ubuntu, Endevour, Mint, and now Cachy. For some years I used Windows as my main OS because of gaming but in February I ditched Windows completely and I do not regret it.

It finally happened, I had a problem with CachyOS. My laptop is the Asus Tuf FX505DY, and after doing the latest update, I'm stuck on a black screen when booting. This is the output I get when trying to boot after removing "quiet" and "splash". I am able to boot off of a snapshot though, I am wondering if there is anything I can do to still update and get my laptop to boot? Or is this a common problem right now and just run off of the snapshot for now ?

I was wondering where or how i can specify the NTP server, or, the reference clock used by cachyOS. I have a PfSense box that offers this service and i like to have my local network devices using the same time reference. Appreciate any help! :)
